Did not know what Peru/ Chinese fusion was & what a delight! Wonderfully flavorful & visually a treat. Will recommend & definitely return.
Puruvian & Chinese, who knew lol so good, lovely service & atmosphere.
We were excited to have some peruvian cuisine getting there but we had the surprise that their cuisine has'a Chinese twist'. Most of the menu is made of Chinese style pork, or fried chicken. They only have two or three fish options on the menu, we choose the starter ceviche (which was really good), the other'ceviche' was made of Chinese style cooked pork. I'm not an expert but it really didn't feel like we were eating a ceviche, it wasn't bad but if we wanted Chinese food we would have walked a few blocks away to China Town & would have paid our dinner for much less. The beef dish we had was ridiculously small & pricey. The quantities are ridiculously small, which is why they encourage you to select 3 to 5 dish for 2 persons to share. (But the price is the same as an average full dish you could get somewhere else). Disappointing. Our server was nice though!
Traditionally, Chifa is a fusion restaurant resulting of the Chinese immigrants living in Peru & characterized by the small minimalist style & the huge portions served. Now part of the peruvien traditional food.
This concept has been brought to Montreal & that's make the difference between the other many Peruvian restaurants in town.
Style & decorations are mimic of a traditional peruvien chifa restaurant but fancier.
Food os not served in huge portions neither but, as peruvien myself, I was surprised by the taste, flavours & quality of dishes. We ordered like 4 different items from the menu & none of them was disappointed, on the contrary, we were very pleased & happy of this discovery. So price is justified.
Take a time to observe the kitchen & the chefs working on it through the big glass behind it, is a must see experience.
They have Inca Kola, a must with chifa food.
They have some other diches in the menu not typical of a chifa restaurant but nevertheless are very welcome, like the lucuma ice cream & pisco sour.
Service is there, good & friendly enough to feel treated. They have a terrace outside also to enjoy the summer season.
*review updated after 2 years & still the same. Keep the high standards!
I was looking forward to trying some peruvian chinese food, which I've never had before. The dish I would come back for is the Lomo Saltado. The beef was tender, well seasoned & the tomatoes were a great burst of flavour. The other dishes were also fine, just not as memorable as I was hoping it would be.
It is a littler on the pricier side & reservations are recommended. We walked in with a party of 4 & got seated at the bar which was pretty fun because you could see the different dishes they prepared.
Honestly, amazing Peruvian x Chinese fusion. Love their food, the atmosphere, the service was also good! Definitely recommend.
A delightful fusion of flavors!
This restaurant beautifully blends Peruvian cuisine with subtle Chinese influences, creating a unique & flavorful dining experience. The dishes were well-balanced, rich in taste, & the service was warm & attentive Jeremy was a great host & gave us the right advices.
A must-try for those who enjoy creative culinary twists
Nice Chinese/Peruvian place! With reasonable price & portion was overall generous. I feel like the Peruvian touch was weaker than other restaurants though, they could've had more originality on each dish.
Food is amazing; the flavor is very strong & distinctive. Ceviche, skewers, & pastel choclo (dessert) are the highlights of our meal. Peruvian x Chinese is such an impressive combo. Service & ambiance are great. It's definitely worth a try.
Very good service & delicious Chifa (Peruvian-Chinese food) & I can tell, cause I'm peruvian😊Love it!
This was our first experience trying any sort of peruvian food & we were very impressed. The cocktail menu contained a selection of predictable Pisco drinks, which we had no problem enjoying! Shoutout to any cocktail with passionfruit. For the food it is a fusion of peruvian & Chinese & we took the bartenders recommendations & tried the ceviche Pato caliente, the lomo saltado (the sauce being the highlight here for sure) & the chaufa especiale (fried rice). This was definitely enough food for the two of us. Overall great service & recommendations. We will definitely be back.
Chifa is a fantastic blend of Chinese & Peruvian flavors! Every dish is unique & full of flavor. The cozy atmosphere & friendly service make it even better. A must-visit for anyone looking to try something different!
My date said this was her favourite restaurant - in faith in her tastes I obliged. Peruvian-Chinese fusion is not run-off-the-mill cuisine, & Chifa does a fine job at executing this niche of fusion. My experience with other fusion restaurants is that the dishes tend to lean towards one side with only a touch of the other cuisine that it is supposed to be a fusion with. Chifa's dishes are perfectly balanced between Peruvian & Chinese, creating a wholly new experience. The octopus skewers were delectable. Really enjoyed the beef dish as well. The friend chicken comes in 3rd place but was still very enjoyable. Expert chefs at this place creating some impressive dishes. The atmosphere of this place is nice too, they did a good job at using the space. The bathroom is a bit of an adventure to get to but a minor detail. Prices are reasonable for this level of dining.
One of the best Peruvian & Chinese fusion food in dt definitely worth trying. Although their food is generally a bit salty
It's more like chinese food fusion with Peruvian palate. There's strong wok hei in the fried rice! Impressive with the cook. Setting is great for table of 4, squeeze a bit for cosy cosy 6 😁. Service staff can be a bit hard to gather their attention. Drinks & food came out wrong. Maybe it's a one off. Will visit again to confirm.
The food was very disappointing. I ordered the Chaufa Rice & it simply was not good. The chicken was fried to the point it was supper dry & the rice had that off-putting raw egg flavor. Given the long tradition of Peruvian Chinese food this was really disappointing. The service was also very poor, the type of service where they make you feel they are doing you a favor. If you are eating solo they will not even give you a table inside, you need to eat at the bar. The restaurant looks really nice inside.
A must try- highly recommended spot for great quality tapas of Chinese-Peruvian fusion food. Amazing service, the staff was very friendly! Thank you to the manager, for the special attention! The drinks were great, but the maracuya sour was perfect! Best quality all around! Thank you for a great experience! Definitely coming back soon! 👌🏼
