Chez Potier is not your average café-this place *levels up* the pastry experience in every way. The moment you walk in, you feel the refined yet welcoming vibe that sets the tone for what's to come. It's a beautifully curated space that blends the elegance of a European pastry boutique with the warm charm of a local favorite.
The pastry selection is nothing short of stunning-each piece genuinely looks like a work of art. I tried their in-house hot chocolate & was impressed by the rich flavor. You can really taste the quality cocoa, though I personally would've preferred it less frothy & a touch darker. That said, it was still a delight to sip.
I paired the hot chocolate with a strawberry cream pastry that showcased real craftsmanship. It featured four distinct layers: a silky vanilla cream on top that was absolutely decadent, followed by a refreshing middle layer of strawberry accented with fresh mint, & finished with a touch of fresh strawberry on the side. The base was a little firmer & drier than I'd like, but it didn't take away from the overall flavor, which was still thoughtfully composed & delicious.
Service here deserves a shoutout-attentive, knowledgeable, & warm. Their recommendations were spot-on, & it's clear they take pride in what they do. Beyond pastries & coffee (which is in-house brewed, by the way), they offer a selection of fine European goods including Italian delicacies, French products, truffle oil, & even caviar.
Chez Potier has a lot to offer & then some. I'm already looking forward to going back & trying more. A must-visit for pastry lovers, café connoisseurs, or anyone looking to indulge in a little edible art.View more
Beautiful cafe, many delicious pastries, wish could try more.View more
I have a sweet tooth & I can say that I'm never disappointed with Olivier Poitier's pastries!View more
Amazing croissant, cannelés, Galette des Rois & à multitude of other pastries! Also great local & French imported goods!View more
The patisseries were good, but small & way overpriced. I know many place that offer the same quality (& some better), but half the price. two very small pastries came to $25!!!View more
Came for some coffee & pastries & they did not disappoint. Amazing treats, great quality & prices were very reasonable. Can't wait to come backView more
I love this place because it adds a very fancy feeling to that quartier/Griffintown because lots of my favourite restaurants are there so every time I can just pass by & buy croissants for next morning. Of course the pastries are so frenchy & so authentic. A good carry on of the traditions I love it! 🥰View more
The pastries were so good. More on the pricier side but well worth it! I would go back to try their other pastries. They also have a lot of French products you can buy which you can't find elsewhere. Highly recommend for anyone to try it if you appreciate good quality pastries & don't mind spending a little more.View more
They serve one of the best pastries & sweets in town. Small areas for dine in also available.View more
Stumbled upon this place as part of the Montreal passport. The pastries were beautiful & delicious. The service was exceptional.View more
Overthetop pastries! Amazing croissants in quality 🥐, it is the best we've ever tried in Montreal arriving from France! Great European imports make it a very good place for souvenir shoppingView more
Good coffee, decent pastries (not the best in Montreal). Great service, however they have very little seating.View more
Amazing cakes! I've tried quite a few patisseries in Montreal & this is one of the best. Expect to pay more for higher quality desserts. Passion fruit cheesecake is my favorite & I don't even like passion fruit that much. Baba au rhum is my second favorite. Pastries are good but are pricier than what you can get in Montreal at a lower price tag.View more
Their pastries & cakes are hella delicious. Definitely worth the price. They are made with care & with fresh ingredients.View more
Amazing gourmet market with great selection of desserts & pastries. The only pain I want in my life is this Pain au Chocolat 😉View more
Over priced! The taste of almost all pastries I bought was bad even the chef choice! The croissant was super buttery! Overall bad experience. I give 2 just because the cashier was niceView more
The pastries are good but not sure what happened this year with their buche & galette. The buche had the consistecy of ice cream & went bad within a day (I put it in the fridge), & the galette had too much sugar & was too oily.View more
Their dine in area is closed during holiday season, which is a shame. Pastries looks good. Bought 2 to goView more
Love their pastries & Croissants. Their scones are the best I have tried in MTL yet.View more
Amazing French style dessert/ pastry store. Love every dessert, not too sweet, great look. The cafe latte is also delicious 🤤 although the price is a bit higher than average pastries, it's worth going.View more
The most amazing pastries & the best cookies I’ve ever had!View more
Baba au rum, eclair au café & tart au citron.
The pastries are amazing & thoughtfully created, with every element, layer & texture serving its purpose. However, though these are beautiful & elegant, the taste is often overlooked in the final verdict. This was my second time here & I can say that it has not amazed me & shocked me out of this world because the flavors are just NOT there. This is my biggest critique of high level chef pastry shops. Often time they are afraid to push the flavors to an extreme, so you end up with very bland tasting pastry. For example there is so much potential in the Tart au citron but there isn’t enough lemon taste & acidity to the crème to make it really stand out. Same goes for the éclaire au café. I would like to see more emphasis on the harmony between flavor & structure when I am paying for expensive pastries.
For this reason I do not consider it the best French pastry in Montreal. View more
