De passage sur Montréal, j'ai découvert ce lieu. Que dire de ce restaurant… tout y est parfait. J'ai pris le menu dégustation, & j'ai été surpris par la diversité des plats proposés. Finement préparé & très bien présenté, C'est un vrai voyage culinaire.
Adepte de restaurant étoilé, celui-ci n'a rien à envier & mériterait une distinction.
Niveau service, le personnel est très agréable & on se sent vraiment à l'aise.

Some of the most innovative food in North America, not just Quebec!
Chez Jean Paul is one of the great restaurants in North America. It's a true farm-to-table/ local-first restaurant, but without the annoying pretension of Noma & its clones. The flavors are exciting, but also subtle & complex. For such a small place & a fairly reasonable price, what the chef is doing is phenomenal, & rivals many Michelin star restaurants. It's a modern, innovative restaurant, but also homely & honest. Cannot recommend it enough.
Highlights were the parsnip + scallop crudo, poached oyster with celeriac & razor clams, & the sunchoke with raddichio marmalade & XO.

Nous sommes tombés par hasard sur ce resto au retour du cinéma. Nous avons été attirés par l'ambiance feutrée émanant de la fenêtre.
Nous avons été séduits par la qualité & l'inventivité des plats. Le service a été tout à fait à la hauteur, attentionné & chaleureux. Nous reviendrons assurément découvrir cette table unique à Montteal, dans un contexte où nous viendrons découvrir leur menu dégustation.
Gem we discovered thanks to some recommendations from strangers! The smaller setting made for a really great intimate atmosphere where my friends & I could chat easily. We were seated at the bar (last minute reservation on a Saturday), but they thoughtfully gave us a corner to face each other. We also had a great time talking to the staff! We went for the tasting menu & wine pairing, & thoroughly enjoyed all of it! The mushroom dessert was a pleasant surprise.
Honestly, this was disappointing, especially considering how many good reviews this place has. While the food itself tasted great, we didn't have a good overall experience. The day we went, it was extremely cold inside & the heater wasn't working, which made it very uncomfortable to enjoy the meal.
What made the experience even more confusing was that we were waiting for what we thought was our last dessert, only to be told that the entire course included just one dessert. I would have appreciated knowing this earlier, as we would have left right after finishing instead of sitting there in the cold waiting.
Overall, the food was good, but the experience wasn't. I'm not sure if I would give this place a second chance.
Chez Jean Paul, une excellente adresse!! Nous avons pris une table pour 2 personnes avec 9 services . Les prix étaient très raisonnables pour la quantité. Nous étions amplement rassasiés à la fin du repas ce qui est rare dans un restaurant gastronomique à ce prix là. Chaque plat était soigneusement présenté, exécuté avec finesse & absolument délicieux. Une expérience culinaire à la fois raffinée & généreuse que nous recommandons sans hésitation.
