I used to go to Chez Bong on St-Laurent 20 years ago & really enjoyed the food. So I decided to try the restaurant on Mackay. We came here on Thursday evening. We didn't have a reservation but we didn't have to wait long.
The food was good but the service was so long even though the restaurant was half full.
We had the shrimp twigim. They were crispy & hot. We had jjajangmyeon (tasty & not too salty) rosé jjampong (creamy & not too spicy) & bulgogi. We also had fried chicken. It was nice & crispy.
This is hands down the best Korean fried chicken in Montreal. I always go for the half-half - their original flavor is super crispy, & the sweet & spicy sauce tastes just like authentic Korean chicken. The bibimbap is also amazing - I highly recommend dining in for the best texture & flavor.
It's a small hidden gem that really deserves more attention. My go-to place whenever I crave Korean fried chicken!
We craved for traditional korean dishes, so decided to try Chez Bong since we were walking down the block.
our waitress very friendly & gave us a great service, food came out real quick ( it was not busy on a saturday afternoon, also that day was beautiful outside so that explains why probably)
My friend & I ordered a stir-fried spicy pork dish & a stir-fried bulgogi & a side of korean fried dumplings, we enjoyed our food. it came with small side dishes
the only thing i would suggest is to maybe put some more ambiance because we couldn't talk normally, we had to whisper not for others to listen ( it was that quiet)
I would definitely go back to try their other dishes!
When I first visit this restaurant, I had the spicy soup with noodles & spicy stir fried pork. Those were so goooood, so I thought about Chez Bong while I was in Quebec. So I visited here again when I came back to Montreal. I strongly recommend fried rice & spicy soup with noodle. Their service was very nice, too.
Had the tteokbokki & it was deliciously sweet & spicy. Recommend 1000%
Amazing food! I don't know much about Korean food, but I know it's delicious! Try the spicy chicken & something that looks like a pancake!
I tried their half-&-half noodle (no.3) to sample both types, but it unfortunately didn't meet expectations. It seemed they aimed for a healthier version compared to Korean Chinese restaurants in Korea. The black bean noodle was less sugary, & the spicy seafood noodle had fewer chili oils. Whether it was an average day or not, the noodle portion was surprisingly small for its cost; the black bean noodle barely had onions, & only one tiny pork piece was included. It's unfortunate that Montreal lacks a standout Korean Chinese restaurant.
사천탕수육 is sweet & really delicious ! (Not spicy) 짬뽕 is also not spicy !!
