Noodles are made in house & perfectly chewy. Please give them a try, you won't be disappointed!
The jajangmyeon was very good & should be tried; they make the noodles in house. The kkanpunggi was less good. The portion sizes were pretty large, even for the small size options. The restaurant interior was showing its age & the cup for water provided had some sediment in it.
The highlight of my trip to Montreal was visiting Chez Bong.
The server was kind & friendly, & I believe it was the owner who came out personally to help us when we asked about parking-very thoughtful & helpful.
While some of the photos I saw showed the black bean noodles (jajangmyeon) looking smooth, the sauce in the platter-style version we ordered tasted more like raw black bean paste, as if it hadn't been fully cooked. The jjamppong was a bit bland as well. That said, the kanpunggi was delicious.
Food is not about right or wrong-it's a matter of the restaurant's own style, so I have no complaints. Thank you for the meal!
When I first visit this restaurant, I had the spicy soup with noodles & spicy stir fried pork. Those were so goooood, so I thought about Chez Bong while I was in Quebec. So I visited here again when I came back to Montreal. I strongly recommend fried rice & spicy soup with noodle. Their service was very nice, too.
English review follows. L'avis en français est plus bas. I had a wonderful dinner with my family at Chez Bong! The atmosphere was cozy, & the staff was very helpful & friendly. We ordered a few plates to share, & everything was tasty. I especially liked the seafood soup (jjamppong) & the sweet & sour pork (tangsuyuk). My partner's favorite was the noodles with pork in a black bean sauce (jajangmyeon). We will definitely come back on a future visit to the city, & we highly recommend it!
What a delightful meal we had delivered! The black bean noodles were very savory & served in a hearty portion, the tteokbokki was just the right level of sweet for our tastes, & the bulgogi was well seasoned & succulent. Very happy to have discovered this gem, we're keen to try the food on-site next time :) I want to quickly thank whichever employee drew a lovely Howl's Moving Castle reference on our delivery bag, it really made our night! Appreciate that you took the time out of your evening to doodle this for a strange
I tried their half-&-half noodle (no.3) to sample both types, but it unfortunately didn't meet expectations. It seemed they aimed for a healthier version compared to Korean Chinese restaurants in Korea. The black bean noodle was less sugary, & the spicy seafood noodle had fewer chili oils. Whether it was an average day or not, the noodle portion was surprisingly small for its cost; the black bean noodle barely had onions, & only one tiny pork piece was included. It's unfortunate that Montreal lacks a standout Korean Chinese restaurant.
