The kitchen focuses on authentic flavors, utilizing staple ingredients like paprika, cabbage, and root vegetables to anchor its diverse culinary offerings. Guests encounter a straightforward approach to European comfort food, where slow-cooked stews and chilled vegetable preparations define the primary flavor profiles. Each dish reflects regional techniques, prioritizing texture and deep seasoning over decorative flair. The dining environment remains focused on the consumption of these specialty preparations, maintaining a consistent standard of preparation across all menu items. This establishment serves as a dedicated resource for those seeking traditional Eastern European culinary staples prepared with technical precision and a strict adherence to fundamental cooking methods.

Chez Anna is widely celebrated as a hidden gem that offers an authentic and cozy dining experience, making visitors feel as though they are enjoying a home-cooked meal in a welcoming environment. Renowned for its generous portions and hearty Hungarian cuisine, the restaurant features standout dishes such as schnitzel, goulash, and chicken paprikash, alongside a selection of fresh seafood. While the location within a grocery market may be unassuming, the warm service and the passion put into every dish create a memorable atmosphere. Hidden in the rear of Waldman's fish market is a hidden gem. With a few tables to eat at, this Hungarian restaurant serves all the delights. From Cucumber & Beet salads to Veal Paprikash & Beef Goulash, all is made to order.
The menu is small. Explanations of the dishes are clear.
If you are in the area & are looking for something new, different, & delicious, this is the place to stop.

Chez Anna is everything I love about eating out: trying something fun & delicious prepared by someone who clearly loves what they do & food too.

We each sampled a schnitzel with spaetzel, my partner had the pork & I had the chicken. It was perfectly prepared, wasn't greasy at all. Anna accommodated my allergy easily & swapped my side for cucumber salad which was also excellent.

We also had her chicken noodle soup to start which was tasty & fresh too.

If I lived in Montreal, I'd be here all the time.

I really wanted to like this place because of the amazing reviews, but we just weren't impressed. Yes it's home style food, but it wasn't even salted & there was hardly any flavor. We had a cucumber salad, paprika chicken, & the stuffed crepe. The cucumber salad was the best thing we had but the other two dishes were very meh.
We love trying new cuisines from different countries & I'm eastern european so I know these kinds of comfort foods, but this place just didn't do it for us.

Service was fine, lady was nice, & I liked the casual feel of the seating.

The Schnitzel (Becsi szelet) & the cucumber were fantastic. Reminds me of the Hungarian restaurants of old.

A few tables located in the back of a dep made for a lovely experience. The women who served us were very kind & helpful, & the food was delicious. They served us water with cucumber too which was very refreshing :) I hope to come back
