Updated from last visit.
Visited Candide again. & it delivered smart, spring menu - vegetable forward with refreshing sauces, sophisticated ingredients & great service. This is the Candide that we know & love!
- The radishes were perfectly cooked, accompanied by a very tasty (bell pepper?) sauce. Perfect dish to start the show.
- Cucumber with spinach was a very light yet tasty dish. The texture was fun & the buttermilky, slightly sour sauce was very refreshing.
- Crab with carrots, yogurt & basil was a perfect combination of slightly sweet & savory. Baked & fresh carrot added the texture & the basil brought the brightness & freshness it needed. Yogurt went very well with crab & brought everything together.
- Don't let the tomato sauce in a halibut mussel dish fool you - it's actually creamy & slightly spicy with a touch of tomato. It all comes together in a very subtle yet satisfying combination.
- I've never thought chrysanthemum tastes so good with the hen & burned onion!
- Both desserts were great & again fruit forward with natural sweetness.
Really enjoyed the dinner which wasn't too heavy but with large enough portions to walk away full & satisfied. Looking forward to coming back!

Great atmosphere & service but the food is not as it used to be 2-3 years ago. Out of four courses, two were subpar. Especially the fish course (arctic char-on the photo) with sweet sauce & carrots. Somehow the dish was too salty & too sweet at the same time. It was bad, with weird flavor. The second course was some sort of soup with leeks & mussels. It was sour & you couldn't chew anything on the plate. The first course, the oyster & the dessert were solid, with great flavor. This is why I used to love Candide-simple, but sophisticated & tasteful. Unfortunately I don't think we will be coming back when half of the dishes are a miss. Also a mocktail was not really a mocktail but an apple juice.

They literally do black magic with ingredients, I've been to many restaurants in Seoul, Toronto, NYC, SF, & more & Candide stands amongst the top easily.
An amazing experience tucked away in an old church. A little hard to find but well worth it. Very charming atmosphere & amazing food.
Food & the experience were great! Prefix menu + wine pairings were well worth the price. The team walked over & & explained the food & wine in detail prior to each serving.
Amazing experience, especially on a summer night. Candide has a great atmosphere that feels both relaxed & refined, making it perfect for a memorable evening out. The setting is beautiful & inviting, & you can really enjoy the space without feeling rushed. The food is outstanding, thoughtfully prepared, seasonal, & full of flavor, with a clear attention to detail in every dish. Service is professional & attentive, adding to the overall experience without being overwhelming. It's the kind of restaurant that feels special from start to finish & definitely worth coming back to.
Been coming here & taking guests for over a decade. An excellent tasting menu that represents Québec's terroir & talent with a bubbly staff & gorgeous environment. We need more Candide 🫶
I put two stars instead of one because the place was generally packed the entire time & clearly other people love it, but my group absolutely did not like the food. It was a four course set menu, but the flavors were not it at least for us. Some of our party got wine & they also were not a big fan of that either. I will say that the seating area is cute & there's a nice vibe in the restaurant, but we could not get past the food. The four course menu included a course of cauliflower then something with tomatoes & what tasted like cinnamon & then a main dish of fish or mutton, & finally cheese or cake for dessert. I also found the food took a lot of time.
We really enjoyed our experience here. The atmosphere is well planned & enjoyable & the food is crafted with thought. You can really tell that what you are being given is purposeful & the each dish is given significant attention. We very much enjoyed our service by Elizabeth who clearly understands how to balance being present while not interrupting conversation & knows the menu perfectly.
solo dinner & enjoyed the experience there. very homely interior with a very small team of staff (4 only). but despite that, service was still attentive & each course was brought out swiftly.
food was delicious, but not spectacular. well crafted, but not memorable.
oysters from new brunswick ($3.5 each) with added cream wasnt really to my liking.
rutabaga was interestingly cooked & was the standout of the night.
endives was a bit salty.
artic char from montreal was cooked well, but flavor of the fish still remained fishy & relied too much on the sauce rather than the taste of the fish itself.
dessert was decent.
had a cocktail to go along with it.
total bill came up to $150 with tax & tips.
noting they are short staffed, as you leave no one bats a head to you. even the chefs behind the counter were busy preparing the food. dedication i guess.
Très beau restaurant. Service vraiment impeccable.
One of a kind experience. They always pay so much attention to detail & explain every dish with care. So great that they have a vegan version as well! 💚
