Dishes include crispy chicken, flavorful broths, authentic Vietnamese flavors, and well balanced sauces, with generous portions and good value. I'm not sure why this restaurant receives such high praise. It's quite average. I've eaten a ton of authentic Vietnamese & this place doesn't compare.

It s one of my favorite fusion vietnamese restaurant. I would suggest you their general tao. Their Saigon Chow mein. The chicken curry soup but everything is good the service Perfect the owner that I know is always offering a small appetizer to try & i think he always offer to new people thats come to his restaurant too.

Minh (the owner) & his wife are absolutely amazing people & have a fantastic restaurant! We come here at least once every time we are in Montreal. Everything that they serve is quality, delicious food. Their staff is very friendly & accommodating as well. Serving you authentic Vietnamese cuisine since the early 1980's.

One of the small group of restaurants that can accommodate a group of 90+ people. We had our Christmas party at Cafe Saignon & for us, what stood out was 1) the service. Very welcoming people, with staff that was ready & the food that came to the tables promptly. 2) Great variety of food. Their general tao was great, as well as their variety of soups! If you like Vietnamese food & looking to host a large group, I recommend.

As other commenter mentioned, I feel bit bad for posting a low rating but the food was truly underwhelming & not too fresh. The carrots used in my dish were objectively past their expiration date... Also the dishes are underwhelming, especially compared to what Vietnamese restaurants offer in Montreal nowadays. The room also smells a bit off (probably due to seats made of fabric & humans sitting on them for years), but you get used to it after 20 minutes or so. The staff was VERY friendly though. BYOW is also nice.

After some shopping in Rue St-Catherine we were dying for some good Asian food. You can bring your own wine in Cafe Saigon. Don't we love this?
The atmosphere was quite busy & noisy, but that didn't bother us. I think some people had a bit too much of the wine they brought ;-)
The place itself hasn't got a terrace or big windows, but there's plenty of space. You can breathe.
We ordered Pork & Shrimp Rolls with a groundnut sauce. Very nice. The other Springroll was also quite tasty. Good starters.
The General Tao Chicken was absolutely great. Crunchy & really tasty, served with some pretty good rice. The Red Chili Beef Noodles with fresh Mint, Cucumber & Carrots were also quite refined.
Very nice dinner for a correct price. We definetely recommend this little charming Vietnamese restaurant! Cheers.
