Such a great local discovery! One of the best cafés in the area, in my opinion. The Onigiri is amazing, great portion, & like most people are saying, the matcha & hojicha lattes are hands-down the BEST I've ever had in the city. The staff is very sweet & friendly, & the space is filled with art, plays fantastic music (always great music choices!) & the bathrooms are always impeccably clean. Love that it's open later than most cafes in the area, too. Nice place to work or study & grab a tasty bite to eat at the same time! 10/10 ⭐View more

Un passage régulier de la fin de semaine, pour un instant de douceur gustative & de calme, un petit dépaysement dans Montréal. Leurs onigiri sont fraichement préparés & délicieux, les petits plats également, & leur matcha latte... le meilleur de la ville pour moi. Spécial yummy pour le Ume. (Les gens qui chialent pour de la sauce soja dans les commentaires ont surement bien trop l'habitude des goûts avec des ultra additifs, de plus on ne met pas de la sauce soja dans tout sous prétexte que c'est un plat asiatique, sachez profiter de la simplicité) Le lieu est toujours propre, on peut profiter tranquillement car pas de musique forte comme souvent on peut entendre, le personnel très gentil & parle français & anglais. On peut y venir juste pour manger, y rester avec son laptop pour travailler (wifi) ou lire son bouquin. Un seul souhait : qu'ils ne ferment pas aussi vite que la plupart des choses biens à Mtl.View more

Really cozy & quiet spot near the bustling St. Laurent Ave. I got a hojicha latte, which is one of the best ones I've had - highly recommend it! I also tried the tuna onigiri, which was a bit too much mayo for my taste, but still very tasty. Everything is decently priced & I look forward to trying the other onigiris next time.View more

I LOVE this café!!! Their matcha & hojicha lattes are both insanely good (the best I've ever had!) & their onigiri are tasty, filling, & reasonably priced. What a cozy, serene feel once stepped into this Japanese cafe? Really no expect that this cafe's so cool. Their hojicha lattes made by Japanese themselves is really different than foreign hands, right? The hojicha here tastes really good.....rich aroma, creamy & smooth unlike I had been tasted so far. Nice cafe with some delicious light foods. I ordered the hojicha latte with oat milk & a ajitama onigiri. It is like a chilled patty of seasoned rice & meat topped with a pickled boiled. egg. They unfortunately do not have decaf coffee. But service is nice & the place is beautiful. No AC for hot days either.View more

Il mouillait à siaux en ce matin dominical. Cependant, une accalmie entre deux averses nous procura le créneau pour nous acheminer au sec vers le Café le NIGIRIZ, ancien dépanneur reconverti en fabrique à nigiris après être resté dans les limbes pendant quatre longues années. Magnifiquement situé à un coin de rue d'un secteur résidentiel, avec une splendide façade travaillée aux grandes vitres & l'intérieur de bois & de noir surplombé d'un impressionnant plafond de métal, l'allure du restaurant à lui seul peut servir à attirer les badauds. De plus, les nigiri, exposés sous une vitrine courbée, étaient mignons à croquer. Chaque préparation était délicatement posée sur une feuille d'algues que la jeune employée, de bonne compagnie, ploiyait vers l'arrière. L'anticipation était grande & des gloussements d'excitation s'échappaient de la gorge de votre troupe du dimanche (K., A., E. & votre soussigné) qui avait sous les yeux virtuellement l'ensemble du menu : les neuf nigiris en vente & trois accompagnements (soupe miso, aubergine & champignons). L'effervescence était telle que chacun y alla de sa séance de photos personnelle. De toute façon, il n'y avait pas de presse, tout était servis froids ! Pour le plaisir, nous tentâmes d'initier A. au maniement des baguettes avec un morceau d'une savoureuse aubergine. Après avoir connu des débuts prometteurs, elle remisa bien vite l'instrument & empoigna plutôt la fourchette. Ce ne sera que partie remise ! Après quoi, nous procédâmes au pénible découpage des gâteaux sans couteaux... & nos nigiris ne formèrent plus que de petits agglutinements de riz difformes. Qu'importe, on était là pour manger, après tout ! Dans les faits, c'est lors de la consommation des mets que survint l'embarras le plus grand. Je me fais un scrupule d'émettre quelconques critiques de petits mets si abordables (un repas faste contre quelques 16 $ par personne, quand même !), mais les ils étaient, dans l'ensemble, insipides... du riz assaisonné, en quelque sorte, qu'on aurait voulu rehausser avec de la sauce soya. Du reste, les plats d'accompagnement, hormis les aubergines, étaient sans histoire & le nigiri à la prune japonaise déplût fortement à deux de notre groupe. À la fin, l'enthousiasme culinaire n'était plus. Toutefois, cela ne nous empêcha nullement de profiter du moment & de l'apparat visuel du lieu pour engager la conversation & célébrer notre belle amitié. En conclusion, le NIGIRIZ offre une expérience culinaire qui laisse à désirer, quoique à prix doux. Pour ceux qui cherchent une expérience visuelle unique & un cadre agréable pour socialiser, il reste nonobstant une option à considérer. En fait, j'y boirais encore un délicieux latte hochija ! P.S. J'ai utilisé le passé simple dans cette critique pour taquiner mes amies.View more

Probably the best hojicha latte I've ever had! So smooth & creamy. I will be back to try the matcha one. The onigiri is very fresh & tasty- my favorite is the seasoned egg (ajitama) one. The space is very beautiful & cozy. The wall & ceiling detailing is quite unique & beautiful. This place has a great atmosphere for meeting up with a friend, or working/studying at a cafe.View more

The onigiri that i choose was the tuna mayo & it's good. When you dine in, they will serve the onigiri open, then you need to fold it by yourself. It's an interesting experience before you eat. This place was ultra cute & the folks working here were so nice. The woman putting together the orders was very sweet & took the time to explain the flavors to the people in front of us in line. We got the tuna, salmon, & karage ones & they were great. The rice was perfectly paired with the Hojicha latte. All in all delicious. We got one mystery flavor: It was delicious!!!
