Review Summary

Many reviews describe Café Chato as a cozy, welcoming cat cafe where well cared-for cats roam and some are available for adoption; visitors praise the friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere, and good coffee with vegetarian options. Some feedback notes weekends can be crowded and noisy, making it harder to interact with the cats, and a few comments mention cleanliness issues. The cats are the main draw, described as calm, sociable, and well loved, with several accounts of potential adoptions and a sense of care for their welfare. The cafe also garners praise for its contribution to cat welfare and the friendly ambiance that makes it a go-to spot for studying, socializing, or simply enjoying time with felines. Overall, Café Chato is portrayed as a popular destination for cat lovers that offers a welcoming vibe, decent drinks, and an emphasis on adoption.

I love the cat company & how playful they are. Being here Isobel relaxing experience. Smoothies are my second favorites after the cats 😋

Such a cool & relaxing place to take a break. Went with my wife & 5yr old son & we had a great time seeing, peeing & playing with the cats who came around frequently for play or pets before releasing to the taters or shelves for some personal space.

A super cute cat cafe near Verdun station. It's super busy as the day goes on so best to come early to get a seat. There are several adorable kitties wandering around, climbing, playing, or deep into naps. Interactive toys & perches are provided. The cats were friendly & there is a partnership with an adoption agency so many are looking for homes, which is a lovely cause. The entire menu is vegetarian with several coffee options. The service staff were nice & friendly. We tried the cappuccino, cortado, & chili dish. They were okay. We did see several people on laptops, suggesting it is accepted by the establishment, but few power outlets were around. Definitely a mist visit.

So... honestly, for a café, it's pretty average. Some items were reasonably priced, & others were not. If I had to name an item I was truly satisfied with, it was the soup of the day. The soup was done perfectly, with no flaws to me at the very least. I loved it, even though I am often very picky on soup & the flavors from it. I had the berries smoothie, & it was really good. It was honestly very good for the price as well. I did not have the pastries, but my friends who were with me mentioned that it was good. However, the sandwiches & paninj were overpriced & questionable. At the very least... the sandwiches were really small despite their price... (10,45$) There really is not much to say considering that it is a cafe, not a restaurant, nor a bakery. As such, here's the main thing to pay attention to. Surely, if people go to a cat cafe, it's mainly for the cats, not the food. Well, if you're fine with drinks here, then it's definitely worth the visits. The cats were very adorable & playful. The cafe is fairly peaceful, so it is a great place to study & relax around cats. They provide cat toys as well so that customers can play with the cats. Although it is outside of downtown Montreal & that the food is pretty average, I have to agree that it is worth visiting at least once. I think it's also important to mention that they have adorable merchandise at decent prices. I got a pair of cats that can connect with one another, & that was 7$. Another thing: there is another cat café in downtown Montreal. However, I didn't like how it was really crowded, making it hard to relax with cats. So really, this place was great for giving the sense of relaxation & peace.

We went there on a Sunday morning, shortly after the opening time. It was a pleasant experience. We ordered hot chocolate & croissant. The hot chocolate was pretty good, though the croissant wasn't fresh. The cats are playful & adorable. They seem well taken care of. It's a fun learning activity for kids but be sure to look after them, so they don't nag or chase after the cats. We stayed there until 11am when it started to get very busy.

Service is wonderful. The pastries were not wow. I took a "carré au date" & it was awful. It is made with cinnamon.. ? My wife took an espresso cookie & it was also made with cinnamon.. awful.. Other than that, cute atmosphere with playful cats

Such a lovely place to study & eat while cats are either playing, sleeping or passing by. Staff is very nice & food is also good. Just follow the rules so everyone can have a good experience! If not it can get a little exhausting for the cats & clients. I will definitely come back 🥰
