Review Summary

Reviewers describe Café Bazin as a charming Westmount spot with friendly service, a welcoming ambience, and pastries that are widely praised, including the Tout Choco dessert and the tigré cookie. Breakfast options such as croissant sandwiches and a traditional plate get good marks, and the matcha latte is refreshing, with many noting that everything feels homemade and reasonably priced for the quality. Some drawbacks appear, including shakshuka that is lackluster and a poached egg that is often overcooked, and a refrigerated smoked salmon bagel that did not satisfy. Seating can be limited for larger groups, though the summer terrace helps. Accessibility features like a ramp and attentive staff are appreciated. Regulars mention strong coffee and excellent service, and many say they will return and bring friends and family. The cafe is generally seen as a standout pastry and coffee spot, with recurring compliments about the ambiance, the value, and the dependable breakfast options.

You can hardly find seating for a big group at this location but the one near place des arts has a gringotts ambience (harry potter).

The tigré cookie is a must. Best to skip the shakshuka cuz it's very lack lustre & the poached egg is often over cooked.

Used to be my go to pastry/dessert place. Now keep coming back for breakfast. We had croissant sandwich & traditional breakfast plate (2 eggs, bacon, potato, brioche, fruit). Matcha latte is so refreshing! Cozy place but not many seats could get crowded, in summer the nice terrace helps a lot.

This is just one of my absolute favorite. I am always there. Everything is homemade & delicious. & so not expensive for what it is! Their avocado toast with smoked salmon & egg is the best in Montreal. 💞🫶🏼

We had an avocado toast with egg. When we entered the shop, everyone seemed to be extremely busy to greet us. We had to find ourselves a table (out of maybe 4), but all of them were dirty with plates & leftover food on top. We sat down, & everyone saw us, but no one told us that we needed to order at the cash first. It was after a few minutes after looking around & wondering why we were being blatantly ignored when I saw a hanging sign saying order & pay at the cash... it was our first time there, & not one of the multiple employees that passed next to our dirty table & looked at me had the decency of letting us know to go to the cash. Then, we go to order. They took long for the order, & they brought us a tea cup with a crack on the inside, stained, & then the wrong order. They obviously charge you in advance, & you have to add the tip at that time. At least the avocado was good... service-wise, the manager needs to do something about it. At least 5 different employees there & not one with customer service skills....
