Came here for lunch recently with a friend, we ordered at the counter based on advice from other Google reviews. Had the quiche & the croque monsieur, both were very good. Appreciated that the croque monsieur was not greasy, the bread was also very good. For dessert we had a brownie & date square, brownie was excellent but the date square a bit pasty (unusual texture but perhaps it was gluten free?). Coffees were also good. Service was quite slow even though we ordered at the counter right of way. Terrace is very nice & in good condition for Montreal sidewalk terrace standards.
If you're going there to work, don't.
Computers & books are not allowed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Even though my friend & I were there from 9 to 10 a.m., one of the girls working there (I'm pretty sure she was the manager) made several comments about how she shouldn't allow us to work there. She also asked us to move to the tables outside so we wouldn't take up space inside the café.
If I'm already paying more than $20 for coffee & pastries, & I'm working during the hours when it is allowed, why am I being asked to move?
Overall, I think the brunch & food are good, based on the other reviews I've seen. However, I was deeply disappointed by the way the staff treated us.
Today when i get to the place i asked if was fine to use my pc, i was only going to stay for 1h 30, they told me that it was fine as long as i dont stay until 11, so we ordered two coffees & croissants & start to work, when was about 9am the manager (i think) asked my friend & i if we could leave because we were using two tables, we were concern about the treat of the manager, we both were costumers so it doesnt make sense about that treat.
The food was good but the manager's treat is concerning
You can hardly find seating for a big group at this location but the one near place des arts has a gringotts ambience (harry potter).
The tigré cookie is a must. Best to skip the shakshuka cuz it's very lack lustre & the poached egg is often over cooked.
Good service. Nice place.
But if you're going to sell a pre-prepared, refrigerated smoked salmon bagel for over $18 in Montreal (no sides!), it better be delicious. This one wasn't. Plenty of better options around town.
