Basic fish & chips menu... Cod, salmon, haddock, along with a tofu option, a couple chicken options & beef/lamb kabobs. My partner & I both had Cod burgers. The side of chips / fries was a generous portion. We also shared a green salad that was large & tasty with cucumber & tomatoe slices. My 5 stars is based on the staff, taste, & overall value, unrelated to fancy looks. Not fancy here, great little place. The staff was very friendly & watched over us to make sure everything was to our liking. They interacted with each other in a fun manner. Small indoor seating area. They have outdoor seating by the street in the summer. They also do take out.
Our compliments to the cook & servers!Voir plus
We had the Cod Burger & Haddock. Both were delicious. Had to have a dandelion & burdock drink as well. Service was friendly & quick.Voir plus
We ordered the Haddock Fish n Chips which had maple syrup in the batter- very creative & unique & also tasty. The batter wasn't too sweet, just perfect & had a nice texture to it. It was a bit cramped though definitely a quick grab & bite. I would come back.Voir plus
Tofu & chips! Maple glazed haddock & chips! Our first night in Montreal didn't disappoint.Voir plus
I was blown away with the fish & chips! I had the haddock & chips with maple syrup batter. The flavor/seasoning was amazing! The server was friendly & the service was great. I visited on my last night in Montreal, but I would definitely visit again if I'm ever in town.Voir plus
The staff were extremely kind, & the maple haddock was fantastic!Voir plus
Fish & chip is one of my personnal favorite meal, & Brit & Chips definitly make the best in town! You have to try the maple syrup haddock, it doesn't taste sweet, but it has a very rich flavor! I also recommend the popcorn tandoori shrimps as a starter, absolutly delicious ! Over the summer they have a very cute terrace a few steps away from the heart of the Old Port. As for dessert, their deep fried oreos & apple doughnut are to die for !Voir plus
Very atmospheric fish & chips place. The staff are friendly & the maple syrup battered haddock was excellent!Voir plus
Ordered Haddock Maple Syrup batter. Did not taste the maple syrup at all! & they changed the fries, used to be homefries thicker & sweet. Frozen fries are unappealing! No longer same since new ownership.Voir plus
I ordered the haddock maple syrup batter fish & it was soooooooo good, It's an amazing place to go eat when you are on a date or just with family. I will definitely come back.Voir plus
Yummmmmmy! I got the haddock & it was delicious! The quantity of food was big, the flavour was incredible, overall I was very satisfied. My husband got mushy peas, & when I tried them, I was sad I didn't get them myself they were sooooo good. We say inside where there was ac & the jams were on point. The server was super kind & the food hot!Voir plus
One of the things I always try to do is visit a chippy everywhere I go! I've had them almost everywhere I've been. The best ones tend to besmall but with a large fryer. Brit & Chips was no exception. Tables & seats inside are limited, as space is dedicated to producing delicious meals! We almost passed on the place due to lack of seating. Fortunately, one of the wait staff, Daní informed us that they had plenty of outdoor seating. I was dubious at first as the canopy on the outdoor seating area looked like it was designed for sun, not rain! As we'd brought umbrellas, problem solved! We'd dine seni al fresco under a combination of sun shade & umbrellas. The menu is not fancy, fish in various forms, freshly prepared & served hot. My wife & her niece were reticent about trying the maple syrup battered haddock but her boyfriend, being the adventurous type, ordered it with chips. Daní correctly informed us that while one could tell maple syrup was an ingredient, it wasn't sweet like eating pancakes. The rest of us ordered the cod, in burgundy ale batter. To get us started we had a couple of amazing Québec produced bitter beers & a couple of glasses of house wine. My wife commented that the wine was excellent. The food arrived promptly & the presentation was exactly what one would expect from a British style chippy. 2 pieces of crisp golden brown battered fish with a generous helping of crisp chips! The flavour was amazing for both fish & chips. My niece's boyfriend noted that as Danaí had predicted, the maple syrup in the batter helped enhance the flavour of the fish & definitely did not overpower it. Pricing was what one would expect for a quality fish & chip meal, with wine & domestic beer. All in all, a great meal served by the friendly & attentive Danaí in a convivial atmosphere. Definitely a must visit for a chippy aficionado (pun intended)!Voir plus
Had a lovely meal the Haddock & chips were great 👍Voir plus
Our first night in Montreal was Good Friday & my friend that I was traveling with said that his family always did fish & chips & really wanted to do that for dinner. Upon research, Brit & Chips was the restaurant that kept coming up. We knew since it was Good Friday there might be a wait but we didn't mind. When we got there they said it was 45 mins but we got in a lot quicker than that. We both got the maple battered haddock & it was absolutely delicious. It was just the right fish to batter ratio & it wasn't greasy at all. Wasn't super pricey & we got a lot of food. Will make this a stop again next time I come to Montreal!Voir plus
Its the only fish & chip restaurant Ive been to that has maple syrup battered haddock!!!Voir plus
Great little place, & the food was incredible. We tried the scotch eggs, salmon & chips, kebabs, & the maple battered haddock.. WOW. Highly recommend!Voir plus
Maybe good for some, but the batter was very thick (much thicker than a pogo) & soggy, with a maple syrup note that I personally was a fan of, but my partner was not. The fries were soft & they too had a sweet note which ultimately combined with the batter was too much sugar taste in a main course. The tartare sauce was very nice. We both had the haddock & fries & wished there was some contrast between all the mushy textures.Voir plus
You can't get much better than this! Awesome food & gigantic portions. The haddock (aiglefin) is even better than the cod (which is also pretty good), so that's my recommendation. Also, a special shoutout for the amazing tartare sauce! The space is a little small but usually there are some available seats. I recommend eating on-site since the fish lose a lot of its crispness if you order to-go.Voir plus
