DELISH! Cute little fish & chips place. Half of the space is counter, bar height seating & the back half are small tables. Ordered the cod with chips & tamarind fried shrimp along with a pint of beer. All were delicious! I devoured it all. Casual, easy, fun, & tasty!Voir plus
As a Brit I can say this is the best place to go in Montreal for fish & chips. The chips are good if a little American but the Cod is spot on. Even the coleslaw, mushy peas & pickles were first rate. Only reason for only 4 star on the atmosphere was the -17oC wind blowing in every time the door openedVoir plus
The food is excellent. We went there around 2pm. A very clean restaurant. We both had the Cod (Burgundy Lion batter) & fries, the Cod was so good, a big portion of 2 big pieces, very nicely seasoned & fried, tasted so good & was very fresh, & very hot to the last bite. The best Cod I have ever had. The fries portion was big, I could eat only half of it, so tasty. I had Lacroix cider with my food. We did not have dessert since we were very full. Service was very good, polite & pleasant staff, also a fast service. The food is cooked fresh upon ordering. Restaurant is not big but many small tables with 2 chairs, also bar stools around the cooking counter. We discovered the restaurant by coincidence & we are so happy, we did. We will definitely return.Voir plus
Service was excellent, atmosphere was cute (although not recommended for groups larger than 4), & the food was okay. The cod was a bit dry, the fried skin seemed a tad overcooked in a few spots as well, & it didn't taste seasoned. However, the tarter sauce & garlic mayo was good. You get a huge portion of fries. Id recommend sharing the fish & chips (add 1 extra piece of fish) between two people rather than getting 2 different orders. If you're not starving, 1 order without an additional piece may even be enough.Voir plus
Cod & chips were very good, mushy peas portion very small & heated up by a microwave which is a shame.Voir plus
Food is top notch. I got the cod fish & chips. Poutine is one of the best in the city & so are the fries. Only downside is the service & how heavily they pressure you for the tip, even for take out. But the food is sooooo good.Voir plus
The fish (cod) & chips were great. Server great. The stout & extra special bitter they sell was excellent. Small shop, outdoor seating good but indoor seating area is small, tight, & smelled of loo.Voir plus
Visiting from the UK, we had the cod in burgundy ale batter & it was delicious.Voir plus
Small place, rather a fast food with restaurant prices. The most expensive beer we had in Montreal & the atmosphere was not impressive. We felt that the frying oil needs to be changed more often. The Scotch egg was ok, but very small (1 egg) for 12$. The fish & chips (cod morue) was ok-ish but kind of bland. The Poutine was not special, nothing to write home about.Voir plus
Fantastic food, irn bru was delicious, poutine was good & the cod & mushy peas were the star of the show for me. If you are craving fish & chips come hereVoir plus
I tool glutin free without alcohol cod fish was deliciousVoir plus
One of the things I always try to do is visit a chippy everywhere I go! I've had them almost everywhere I've been. The best ones tend to besmall but with a large fryer. Brit & Chips was no exception. Tables & seats inside are limited, as space is dedicated to producing delicious meals! We almost passed on the place due to lack of seating. Fortunately, one of the wait staff, Daní informed us that they had plenty of outdoor seating. I was dubious at first as the canopy on the outdoor seating area looked like it was designed for sun, not rain! As we'd brought umbrellas, problem solved! We'd dine seni al fresco under a combination of sun shade & umbrellas. The menu is not fancy, fish in various forms, freshly prepared & served hot. My wife & her niece were reticent about trying the maple syrup battered haddock but her boyfriend, being the adventurous type, ordered it with chips. Daní correctly informed us that while one could tell maple syrup was an ingredient, it wasn't sweet like eating pancakes. The rest of us ordered the cod, in burgundy ale batter. To get us started we had a couple of amazing Québec produced bitter beers & a couple of glasses of house wine. My wife commented that the wine was excellent. The food arrived promptly & the presentation was exactly what one would expect from a British style chippy. 2 pieces of crisp golden brown battered fish with a generous helping of crisp chips! The flavour was amazing for both fish & chips. My niece's boyfriend noted that as Danaí had predicted, the maple syrup in the batter helped enhance the flavour of the fish & definitely did not overpower it. Pricing was what one would expect for a quality fish & chip meal, with wine & domestic beer. All in all, a great meal served by the friendly & attentive Danaí in a convivial atmosphere. Definitely a must visit for a chippy aficionado (pun intended)!Voir plus
I had the cod fish & chips & it was delicious! Amazing service, great food, great prices, & I would come back for sure if I am in the area again.Voir plus
If you want to have some great fish & chips in Montreal. Don't look for an other place. We had both types (salmon & cod) & they were really perfect on taste & structure. Very nice waitress.Voir plus
We tried this place because of all the good reviews. I'm not sure whether the restaurant was having a bad night but the chips were awful- soggy & overcooked. The fish was smothered in batter which was not very nice. I had the salmon & my partner had the cod with a side of mushy peas. It was a very disappointing dining experience.Voir plus
I haven't had great fish & chips that was even close to as good as I had here today in many years . Two big pieces of cod in an excellent batter with a ton of great fries that I was not able to finish to my great regret. I will definitely be back again!Voir plus
Just the perfectly fried fish n' chips you'd expect. Super texture to the cod & a nutty, crisp texture for the batter. Generous helping of fries. Cherry ale to wash down. Buzzer for order, bus your tray. Youthful staff & diverse patrons. Grateful for the choice among the elegant "high-rise" restaurants around it on McGill.Voir plus
Good experience overall, we chose the cod fish & chips. The fish was good but lacking in taste. The poutine was good.Voir plus
We came here five years ago, & back then, the fish & chips were way better. Hoping for the same awesome experience, we ordered it again this time. Sadly, it was just okay, & the cod fish we all got was way too soggy.Voir plus
Small chip shop with great fish & chips. Nice portion of freshly cooked chips & fish. Had the cod. Enjoyed. A combo of counter service (order, sit/wait & pickup meal at counter). Was hoping for more beers on tap. Will go again.Voir plus
You can't get much better than this! Awesome food & gigantic portions. The haddock (aiglefin) is even better than the cod (which is also pretty good), so that's my recommendation. Also, a special shoutout for the amazing tartare sauce! The space is a little small but usually there are some available seats. I recommend eating on-site since the fish lose a lot of its crispness if you order to-go.Voir plus
