Thanks to our server Mathilda, we had a wonderful first night & dinner in Montreal. We came into town late & they were very accommodating.
Very helpful with our drink selections & great service with a nice warm atmosphere.
Our steak frites were spot on how we each like it & good potions for the price. Tres Bien!
Great spot for a drink & dinner at the bar. Shady provided 10/10 service!
We had an incredible experience at Brasserie 701, thanks to Mellisa, who truly made our evening exceptional. From the moment we sat down, she went above & beyond to make us feel welcome & taken care of. She had the perfect balance of professionalism & warmth - friendly, attentive, & genuinely invested in making sure everything was perfect.
The food was outstanding, every dish came out beautifully presented & full of flavor, & the drinks were just as impressive. Mellisa's recommendations were spot on, & her attention to detail really made the night feel special.
It's rare to find service this genuine & thoughtful. We left not only full but smiling, already talking about when we can come back again. A big thank you to Mellisa & the entire team at Brasserie 701 for making it such a memorable experience!
Melissa's service? Top of all tiers!
Drinks appeared like magic, cheers!
Quick with jokes, a joyful spark,
She lit our table, left her mark.
Food was great, the vibes divine-
We'll ask for Melissa next time!

I had dinner with my fiancée at this French restaurant at the end of April. Of course, this might be my first time to eat French food. We sat down, & the waitress brought the menu. I ordered a lobster meal, & I also seemed very experienced to help my fiancée order a steak meal. I didn't want to order wine, but because I took a photo & posted it on the social platform, a friend immediately sent me a private message saying that why eat French food without wine? ! Well, I had to order 2 glasses of wine.
The waitress brought a bottle of wine & scared me. I thought I only ordered two glasses of wine, but she gave me a bottle. I remembered that a bottle of wine on the menu cost hundreds bucks. I thought, is this a black shop, trying to blackmail me? I said I only ordered two glasses of wine, & she said'yes.............', I didn't hear what she said clearly, & then she poured some wine into my glass, & I suddenly remembered that someone told me some ways to eat Western food before. They said that the first glass of unknown liquid that the waiter gave you before eating Western food is for rinsing your mouth, not for drinking. You have to rinse your mouth & spit it out. Now I understood that she wanted me to rinse my mouth with wine, so I picked up the wine & started to rinse my mouth.
Fortunately, my fiancée spoke at this time. She said that the waitress wanted you to taste the wine. This sentence saved my life. I quickly raised the glass & said it was good, good wine. Everything went well. I looked a little red, but I think it was probably because of the strong alcohol, not because I almost used wine to rinse my mouth & spit it out?
Finally, I found that the steak meal I ordered for my fiancée was good, but my lobster meal was too small & not enough. My fiancée was full of energy after eating that night, & I felt a little weak that night. I shouldn't have ordered the lobster meal. This is worth noting.
Came here on a recommendation but it is very mediocre. I do not speak French & I am a Canadian tourist.
The restaurant was understaffed. Extremely slow service. The server was very nice. The escargot was lukewarm warm & was extremely bland. Ontario has better escargot. The chicken was very mediocre, & tasted like a rotisserie chicken slathered in Campbell's cream of broccoli soup. The only good thing was the fancy drink. All in all, I do not recommend this place. I expressed the lack of flavour & the temperature issue the server, & essentially they advised that, this is how it's done in Montreal (i.e., it's the French way: appetizers are served cold & food tastes bland). I kindly said ok but ChatGPT says otherwise. Tourists trap with no quality - management needs to do better, chefs have no soul in their food. It's literally a prime tourist location, do better.
Server forgot to provide the complimentary bread to my table when I sat down.
Ambience is ok. Outside is nice but you're sitting in traffic. Inside is ok, nothing special. Windows are nice but also gives cafeteria vibes.
I recommend Holders Restaurant instead.
The breakfast was reasonably priced & very tasteful. The portion was also plentiful. This is coming from a guy who is used to eating from buffets for a vacation breakfast.
However, because our hotel's breakfast sucked, we went here.
The fruit was fresh & the environment was clean.
We got the two-eggs-your-way & it was amazing.
The drinks (smoothie, hot chocolate, coffee) were presented nicely.
I liked that the menu was short, nobody wants to read for breakfast.
The only gripe I have is that the bread should have come with butter without us asking, but that is a small gripe.
The jam was also slightly loose & unappetizing, but because the rest was so amazing , this place gets 5 stars.
It started last evening when the bartender totally ignored us trying to order drinks. Just continued to wash glasses. We got up & left. Then this morning, they had no croissants. Vieux Montreal is loaded with them. Will try the roof for a drink this evening, but if that crashes & burns, that's it. They can do better.
The food was decent but the service was weak. Not sure if it was because the restaurant was so humid, but the wait staff seemed to have a bit of attitude. Long waits between ordering - we watched our waitress flirt with the wait staff while making minimal effort to get drinks & food. we wound up canceling our mains. Table next to us also complained about service being poor. For the price I would expect stronger wait staff.
A stunning venue with great food & drinks! Our server Paula was fantastic & provided great recommendations
We had a great time! The service was great (a special shout out to our waitress Melissa, who is the best! She went above & beyond to give us the best Montreal recommendations, extra drinks, & anything else we might need). I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a cute high-dining experience.
Beautiful food & drinks, with excellent service. Everything was perfect.
I had the best brunch & the servers made the experience even better. Kind people & quick with drink orders. Jiang & Victor were incredible servers. They are phenomenal at their jobs & made the experience even bette
This place was so nice, & the bartender John was awesome!
It was so nice watching him making the drinks & he was very friendly! I will definitely come back when I am in Montreal.
Belle place en hauteur on y mange bien & les drinks sont super, terrasse sur le toit
Absolutely gorgeous. People don't dress up but as soon as you enter you feel under dressed. It's a piece of 80s upper class energy.
HOWEVER, the Absolutely slowest food service I've ever had. If your enjoying a few drinks you'll be buzzed before it reaches your table.
We were celebrating a bachelorette party for a friend. The atmosphere is great & our server Élodie was beyond fantastic. She recommended great drink & food combinations - everyone was satisfied.
Thank you for the great food, drinks & service. We will be back next time we visit from Winnipeg.
My mom & I stayed at the hotel where this restaurant is located & decided to stop by the bar for a couple of drinks. (So glad we did!) The host greeted us warmly & seated us at the bar. Our bartender, a friendly & attentive young gentleman named Shady, provided excellent service. He recommended the duck confit & crafted some incredible drinks-trust his recommendations if you ever have the chance! The service was amazing, & I would definitely come back (:
Melissa was amazing, service was great. The food was amazing & the drinks even better!
Such a nice place with a warm & welcoming ambiance. We went for brunch, & everyone in our group was satisfied. The food was absolutely delicious! Ayman's service made the experience even better-he was so patient & friendly as we decided on what to order. He even surprised us with a little treat for my friend's birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. I would return to explore their dinner & drink menu.
