Review Summary

Boom J's Cuisine shows bold jerk flavors and comforting Jamaican fare, with curry goat and rice and peas and oxtail delivering flavorful, tender results and generous portions, while beef roti and patties draw mixed feedback and one visit felt bland or overly salty. A standout is a jerk chicken poutine that some say changed the game, and the place tends toward a low key, takeout vibe with friendly staff and big portions for the price. Service can be hit or miss, with slow or unclear communication and occasional order mix ups, even as other reviews praise warmth and consistency. Overall the restaurant offers solid options and authentic vibes, with jerk chicken and oxtail often highlighted, though quality and experience can vary by day and dish.

I ordered from this place for my 40th birthday, expecting an amazing meal, especially since we drove over an hour to get there. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The rice tasted like it had been microwaved, the plantains were bland, & while the jerk chicken was decent, it had a lot of bones. The vegetables were fine, but overall the quality did not match our expectations, especially for such a large order.

I used to come here in the past & always enjoyed the food, which makes this even more disappointing. Sadly, based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend it anymore, as it didn't feel worth the price.

I love this place. The Jerk Chicken served with rice, beans, homemade cole slaw, fried sweet plantain & their spicy hot sauce is my favorite. I have also had the Roti Wrap & it too is amazing. Fantastic homecooking! Staff are kind & helpful.

Pretty meh, the jerk chicken wasn't too spicy or flavorful. The plantains were way to sweat. & that price for portion ratio is awful.

It's been a long time I wanted to try this restaurant. I paid 19.65$ for the chicken BBQ meal. I was disappointed on the portion of the plate. Food is getting expensive I understand but in comparison with other restaurants this was smaller & not even packed...fairly enough to say the BBQ chicken , which was 2 legs , was very tasty , crispy on the outside & tender on the inside. The BBQ sauce was very good, the rice however was fad...no taste just plain rice & peas. I had to mix it with the BBQ sauce & coleslaw salad to give it some flare. The sweet plantains was normal. As for the place. The decor was vibrant but There was alot of flies inside the place . I'm.sad to see a Caribbean restaurant like that honestly. I hope that they will make a little change .

Jerk chicken, plantain & rice are amazing. The rum cake was good as well but a bit dry on the thick part of the cake. 5/5 for the price: Jamaican Patty, Large Jerk chicken (includes 2 legs) & a slice of cake for $35 taxes included!

This was my favourite place when I moved here 3 years ago but in the last year they have really succumbed to shrinkflation like many other restaurants. Food quality has gone down, serving size gone down, jerk chicken is not spiced, rice is dry, they only give one slice of plantain in a combo, & price has increased about 30-40% depending on the dish. I wouldn't mind the higher price point if the quality was still there. I miss the old Boom Js.

The jerk sauce is delicious. The Roti are really good, although the English translation is not Roasted lol. Plantain A+, Rice B-. Solid Caribbean food!

I'm hooked on their jerk chicken. I didn't believe chicken can taste this good. The plantain was sweet, but the riz had no taste & was dry. The chicken patties aren't good FYI.

The place is small, it's not a high end place.

The food has always been delicious each time I've had it. Jerk chicken... stewed chicken... serviced with rice & peas, plantain. Awesome! I can't wait to go back!
