Review Summary

Boom J's Cuisine offers a variety of experiences ranging from highly praised, authentic Jamaican dishes like jerk chicken, curry goat, and patties to occasional inconsistencies in food quality and service. Many patrons celebrate the generous portions, flavorful seasonings, and comforting nature of the meals, often highlighting the roti and jerk chicken as standout menu items. While some visitors enjoy a welcoming atmosphere and excellent local flavors, others have noted challenges with service, fluctuating food consistency, and varying spice levels. Despite these mixed reports, the restaurant remains a popular choice for those seeking hearty, reasonably priced Caribbean cuisine in a casual, low-key setting.

We ordered jerk chicken, goat roti, curry chicken, & beef stew. Everything was delicious & portions were so generous. The beef patties were ok-not sure if they are made in-house, but I'd order everything else again!

Atrocious food & service. The guy somehow thought I ordered "five fish" (I ordered fried fish), & got angry at me when he realized his mistake. Then an Ubereats worker came to pick up an order, & the same guy started yelling at him to "learn English". The food (oxtail plate & fried fish) was 90% bones. I also ordered some beef patties that another guy handled sloppily with his bare hands. I wish I'd just walked out & left my order on the counter.

Underwhelming experience We felt cheated on in the portions, among our large order, We asked for large oxtail platters in which to our surprise looks like the regular size. Two out if those platters had also barely any oxtail in it mainly potato & carrot. The pineapple chicken portions were good. The food taste wise was fine. Just wont be ordering back here for oxtail. Portion & taste wise for that Id rather go elsewhere. We also purchased beef patties, in which we enjoyed far more than the oxtail.

I've always found quality inconsistent, sometimes the food's good, sometimes not at all (talking about rotis here). But my husband loves it & tends to forgive the mishaps over time. So for his bday we order via Uber. He is vegetarian & wanted to get a box of frozen veggie patties as well. Well, we received the beef ones & the guy over the phone told us to bring them back if we want to exchange. We live far, if we could just pop in we wouldn't Uber & pay delivery & service fees. Of course it's just not worth it to drive there late in the evening bc of something that's the resto's fault. What's funny, it's the 2nd time the exact thing happened. & on another occasion he got a fish roti instead of a veggie one (how? why?) We should have learned from it + food inconsistency before, guess we will now 🤷‍♀️

I have to change my glowing review from three years ago. I don't know what happened but this is NOT the Boom J's I have been ordering since it opened. Crunchy rice, tough beef, different sauce, all add up to disappointment. Wife ordered oxtail & got 2 pieces of meat. Prices went up plus it's no longer tax included which drives the price up another 15%. The price goes up & the quality goes down. The hallmark of a business that stopped caring for it's loyal long time customers. Maybe opening a second location wasn't the best idea? I am changing my 5 star review to a 2 star review. C'mon Jermaine! Step it up man!
