We stayed at the Hotel Bonaparte & decided to dine in for dinner downstairs.
We ordered off the menu a la carté instead of doing the tasting, which also seemed delicious.
Started off with the soup of the day which was a celery & leek soup that they served to us in 2 plates as we were sharing.
For apps we ordered the homemade smoked salmon & the mushroom ravioli, both were so tasty. I'm a bit biased for any dish that has mushrooms & salmon haha.
For mains we shared the scallop delight & one of the specials, which was a hanger steak. You can never go wrong with a buttery scallop & grilled veggies. The steak in it's jus was 👌👌.
For dessert we ordered the chocolate soufflé, which takes about 20mins to prepare. The servers & manager were so accommodating of our baby & even offered to bring us our dessert while we went upstairs to feed our baby. We ended up coming back down & finishing up the soufflé there but it was a nice offer from them.
Ended off the night not being overly full, which is always a great feeling!
The best restaurant i visit in Montreal, location, atmosphere, service & food all better than many Michelin starred restaurants I have visit before, the'Tasting Menu' was fantastic!

I came to Restaurant Bonaparte to celebrate my partner's birthday & other life events. We were met with lovely staff who made us feel welcome despite our younger age & inexperience with fancier dining. We tried the tasting menu with wine pairing & we're not disappointed. The rabbit & lamb are phenominal, as well as the cheesecake. Would recommend this spot to any couple looking to celebrate over a fantastic dinner.
We had the Tasting Menu which cost $124 per person. The appetizers were average. For main, I ordered the beef filet. It was a big disappointment because the beef lacks flavour & texture. It was not a good cut of meat. My husband ordered the lobster. The dish came with 2 only small pieces of lobsters. The portions size was not consistent with my price we paid. We both felt dissatisfied!
We had the tasting menu & some plates off the a la carte menu. While I appreciate the level of service, the food unfortunately was not up to expectations. The dishes were well thought of but poorly executed in terms of flavour & on occasion on presentation m. Some plates looked too simple & carelessly designed not fit for a fine-dining establishment. I believe they could work on enhancing flavoring of all the dishes.
A truly incredible dining experience. The staff are welcoming, & I appreciate the patience they with us had as my group stumbled through broken French! The meals were amazing, the drinks were amazing & the desserts were… also AMAZING. I'll definitely be back for the tasting menu in the future. I will be recommending Restaurant Bonaparte to anyone & everyone I know that will be visiting Montreal! :)
Catherine was excellent, she gauged our speed, to make the whole experience wonderful. The tasting menu met all our expectations. See you again, soon! Merci

The hotel W hotel concierge recommended this restaurant, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. We tried the tasting menu, & it was below average, the flavors just didn't hit the spot. Honestly, it wasn't worth the money. The atmosphere was also just okay, nothing special. Overall, a disappointing experience
To be honest, we initially made a reservation here because we wanted to stay close to our hotel, but Bonaparte was the perfect meal to end our honeymoon trip. We both did the tasting menu, & I also added the wine pairing. Everything we tried was delicious & well-portioned. The wines were all well paired & our waitress did a lovely job explaining each match. The service, ambiance, & food were all excellent - I can't recommend this restaurant enough. We would certainly go back.
A wonderful traditional French restaurant with a great atmosphere in the Old Port. You will be amazed by the fantastic ambience, sparkling Christmas tree, warm lights, elegant table cloths, romantic music & 5 stars service. We chose the 7 course tasting menu without regrets. Every dish was perfect! It was pleasant to sit a table by the window having delicious meals while it was snowing outside. An unforgettable night! We will come back!
Incredible from start to finish. Was in Montreal for a quick weekend visit. Spouse decided on a last minute client dinner & I was lucky enough to find a spot for 4 at Bonaparte on a Friday night. The original table assigned to us was in a busy area so our guests requested a quieter location & the staff at Bonaparte couldn't have been more gracious. After just a short wait, they seated us in the back with a perfect table for 4. 3 of us opted for the tasting menu. Service from their team was impeccable & the food was amazing in all facets (presentation, flavours & textures). Our reservation was at 8PM & we ended up spending almost 4 hours there., time just flew by. The atmosphere is very relaxing. We were never rushed or hurried. Very nice experience for the entire party. This is a must do when in Montreal. We would travel back to Montreal just to experience Bonaparte again & perhaps even stay at the adjacent hotel. Merci beaucoup!!!

Delicious restaurant in the heart of old Montreal! They offer excellent wine selection & a great menu choice! They also offer a tasting menu so you get to experience the best dishes of the restaurant (6 service). We tried their special MTLaTable promotion which was a 4 course meal & it was great! It allowed us to discover this restaurant & we would come back again in the future to try out more dishes!
This had to be one of the BEST dining experiences I have ever had. My husband & I did the tasting menu. We each ordered something different, so in total we both got to try 10 dishes. They were all amazing. I cannot say enough good things about the food, it was next level good! The restaurant itself is beautiful & the service was great as well. I highly recommend this restaurant & encourage everyone to try the tasting menu.
Tasting menu was fantastic. Service was attentive & helpful. The only creme brulee I've ever liked. It excellent. An exceptional dining experience. In a great part of Montréal also.

Incredible meal, service & time. We did the tasting menu with wine pairings. Our server, Guillo (sp?) could not have been more professional, knowledgeable & pleasant. The best of the courses was: Rabbit, Ravioli & the Duck. Just a really great time & meal!
Overall, the food is very standard & quality or even maybe lower than regular restaurant & not worth the price. 1. Lobster bisque: standard soup. Not bad but not good. 2. Duck foie gras: the combination of the ingredient does not help to enhance the flavour. The duck foie gras instead of regular foie gras can tell you they try to cheap out. 3. Smoke salmon: random ingredient combination. Basically pieces of salmon with some vegetable. 4. Shrimp & scollop: wonderful shrimp taste, but a bit over cooked scollop. I think their plate is way hot for this dish. The seafood fish does not need this. 5. Rabbit conflict: prob one of the best one. Like the pastry texture. But again, same salad on the side. 6. Sober: like this part of the menu. Nevertheless, wish the sparking wine is actually a bit more fizz. It would bring up the taste more. 7. Lamb rack: horrible. The lamb quality is ordinary. The potato is not cooked thorough. All the vegetable have nothing to do with lamb flavour. The sauce is super thick, like syrup as shown in the last picture. 8. Filet mignon: initially ordered medium rare, but turns out to be medium to well done. We asked for the redone. The second piece is amazing. The best dish of the night. The meat is soft & tender, well balenced favor. Again, uncooked potato. 9. dessert: the dessert make me feel like this restaurant wants to give quantity than quality. Every single one taste like something u can get from random grocery shop. I couldn't finish any of the three. 10. Service: the waitress was nice. But I think the management was not good. We sit down for 10 mins without anyone coming up to us or offer water. 11. Taste menu: no creation at all. That's maybe the reason why their service do not even need to introduce or explain the dish ar all. It is my first time ever having a tasting menu & can visually see the simple combination of the ingredient which does not require explanation. 12. Nice location for the restaurant, I guess some fees goes to the location.
It was a wonderful experience! No wonder it is the best restaurant in Montréal. I loved almost everything. Dress something nice, you will feel like a King/Queen. It took us about 1hr & 40mins to complete the tasting menu. First of all, the atmosphere was beautiful. The music, the walls, the tables, the menu, & the plating went very well together. The Christmas tree was beautifully decorated with dried cirtus. I had to take pictures up close. Servers were very professional & attentive. It was a busy night, but they all had a smile on their face & looked very happy working there. Clumsy me, I dropped the butter knife as soon as I got to my seat. I was so embarrassed, but the servers replaced it right away without us asking or getting their attention. Now, the food, we tried the tasting menu, & it was an awesome choice. My husband & I ordered different things & shared them. Salad & lobster bisque - both were great choices; Salmon was no doubt, Duck Foie Gras Crème Brûlée was not for my taste, but I was glad that I tried it; mushroom ravioli was so wonderful, rabbit confit was not my style but again, l loved that I tried it; pear sorbet cleansed my pallet well (but was too boozy for me); roasted duck was heavenly & was the highlight of my meal (got it medium) & lamb was also heavenly (medium as well); tea (gave me a whole pot, loved it) & coffee; cheese option was really great & Pastry was is the only plate I couldn't finish. We didn't take the wine pairing option. We ordered drinks separately. Overall we were very satisfied. Highly recommend to try.
We had a good time here, the food was very good, we went for the Degésitation six course tasting menu. Delicious. Great wine good atmosphere & service. Would go back. Expensive but worth it.
