Visited Bistro Grace on a Friday night, & thankfully I made a reservation in advance because the place was pretty much fully booked.
First, I want to mention the parking situation. Our reservation was for 7, & the parking lot is very small-there was literally no space available, so we had to park on the street.
When we were seated, I noticed my last name written on the table, which was a very nice & thoughtful touch. Service overall was good & professional. However, for the price you pay, they seem a bit understaffed. The restaurant is small enough that you can get your server's attention, but some service details were slightly lacking. That said, the person refilling water was 10/10-super attentive.
Another thing worth mentioning is the noise level. It can get very loud, making it hard to have a conversation. It would be nice if they added some kind of soundproofing or noise-reduction panels. The restaurant is beautiful & the food is excellent, but the loud atmosphere takes away from the experience a bit.
As for the food-everything was excellent. I had the salmon, & my partner ordered the 1855 Black Angus, which literally melted in your mouth. It was incredibly soft & juicy-spectacular. The bread service is a must-try; we're still thinking about it! I also loved the'blackboard' menu featuring seasonal or weekly specials-very unique & a nice touch.
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience. There are a few minor things that could be improved, but I would definitely go back because the food was exceptional.
Bistro Grace is exceptional! The food was delicious & very flavorful. The stuff was very attentive. Will be back to try other delicious dishes. Thank you!
Bistro Grace is a wonderful gem in the West Island for fine dining. The food is exceptional - every dish is beautifully presented & bursting with flavour. The service is impeccable, with staff who are attentive, knowledgeable, & welcoming. It's the perfect spot for a special night out or a memorable meal. Highly recommend!
Review from someone that just loves food in general from fast food to fine dining. Rating is based on the lowest score. Service: Top service, food arrived fast, new plates in between, checked in on regularly. No issues at all. Atmosphere, simple dim light open room concept. Sound travels so it was a bit difficult to hear my table. Open kitchen so I think kitchen seats might be interesting. Food: Interesting menu items. Had taken several appetizers & a steak. What's interesting when you have menus without images is your expectations & I think everything was on par visually. Calamari was as expected, portion size & both tentacles & rings. Crispy & not chewy. Horseradish sauce (which I make & prefer) plus other sauce was nice to have. 8.5/10 I would prefer to have again. (Example of bad calamari is Lucille's 18$/8pcs). In general calamari should be under $20 & few good places have them in $16-18 range. Mushroom Tartine: Extremely above expectations. Flavour was just something different. Definetly a dish I would want to recreate myself & was the highlight at the Bistro. 10/10 Oysters: Oysters are Oysters. Choice of Lemon, Tabasco, Mignonette (a bit under on flavour) & that Horseradish tomato again. I typically just go for Oysters on Oyster days, or shuck a box myself. Salmon tartare: I love salmon & beef tartare (& when presented table side) but this one just didn't have any burst of flavour, it didn't give my taste buds a new experience. 7/10 Basically decided from my last 2 experiences that I'll just stick to my own home made tartare. If you are ordering a Salmom tartare for the first time, this dish would be a safe introductory to get over "raw" fish. Beets salad: To me, it was just a beets salad. I enjoy beets already so nothing new of a flavour profile came out on this dish. 7/10 Sirloin Steak frites MR: Had expectations since their mains are fairly beef related. For nearly $50 it isn't changing anyone's steak expectations at all. There are quite a few steak places to be had in the sub $40 as a complete. Fries also under whelming. That malt vinegar mayo, noooo. Overall the place is a nice little bistro. Annually for the past 4-5 years we go to the same restaurant for their tasting menu & wine pairing but this time I wanted something different this time hoping Bistro Grace can bring in something different. Come to think of it, there was a reason we kept going back to our same resto because expectations matched & I guess we will see them next year.
Great little bistro on the West Island. Odd location off St Charles in a lot with a gas station but very nice employees & excellent food.
