About

Beijing stands as a cornerstone of traditional Cantonese culinary arts, specializing in authentic dim sum and robust stir-fried dishes that highlight regional techniques. The menu features an extensive selection of seafood preparations, including live lobster and steamed fish, alongside classic noodle bowls and savory congee. Large, circular banquet tables define the spacious interior, facilitating communal gatherings and large-group interactions common in local Chinese dining culture. Each dish relies on traditional seasonings like ginger, scallions, and oyster sauce to maintain the integrity of fresh ingredients sourced for maximum flavor. The kitchen maintains rigorous standards for wok-searing, ensuring each portion arrives with consistent texture and temperature. This establishment remains a reliable destination for diners seeking a classic, high-volume dining experience rooted in the deep culinary traditions of Southern China.

Review Summary

Beijing has long been a staple in Montreal's Chinatown, recognized by many as a reliable destination for traditional Cantonese cuisine. Frequent guests often highlight the authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and efficient service that characterize the dining experience, with dishes like Peking duck, wonton soup, and various noodle options receiving consistent praise. While the atmosphere is frequently described as elegant and welcoming for families, opinions on value and portion sizes are divided, as some patrons find the pricing high relative to recent experiences. Despite some inconsistent feedback regarding quality control or service nuances, the restaurant maintains a strong following of loyal customers who value its long-standing reputation and welcoming environment for both sit-down meals and takeout orders.

Oh, Beijing Chinese Restaurant in Montreal! Where do I even begin with this culinary marvel? From the moment we stepped in, we knew we were in for something truly... memorable.

The General Tao chicken was, without a doubt, a masterclass in... well, chicken. Each piece was a testament to the chef's bold vision, perfectly capturing that elusive balance of'chicken' &'sauce.' & the vegetable fried rice? A symphony of grains & what I can only assume were vegetables, each grain standing proudly on its own, refusing to be overshadowed by any mere flavor.

Then came the breaded shrimp - a revelation! The breading was so robust, so confident, it almost made you forget there was a shrimp somewhere inside. A true triumph of texture. & the egg rolls? Crispy, yes, undeniably crispy. They certainly held their shape, which is more than one can say for some lesser egg rolls.

But the pièce de résistance, the crowning glory, was the Chinese broccoli. It was green. It was leafy. It was... broccoli. A minimalist's dream, showcasing the raw, unadulterated essence of the vegetable.

In summary, if you're looking for an experience that challenges your perceptions of'delicious' & leaves you with a lingering sense of... something, then Beijing Chinese Restaurant is an absolute must-visit. Five stars for daring to be so uniquely... itself!

We tried this place today on our trip to Montreal. Unfortunately it was pretty bad. Honestly, Panda Express taste better & that's not saying much. The steamed dumplings were disgusting with a smathering of really sweet peanut sauce on top. Next was the Noodle dish we ordered, noodles were ok but the beef tasted gamey & was really tough. Then we ordered Chicken Fried rice, had a terrible after taste. Last, we ordered the General Tao Chicken, tasted way too fried & had too much breading, almost like a chicken nugget with sauce. We payed $72 Canadian including tip. Do not recommend this place, we did not even complain, we felt kind of bad since hardly anyone was in eating there. The good that came after this is since we barely ate any of the food, we were able to give it to a homeless man & made his day.

Excellent shrimp fried rice & very good service. The fried rice has amazing wok flavor. The wonton soup was only ok. It's nice they serve hot tea & give fortune cookie for dessert. Reasonable price.

We had stir-fried lobster, fried rice, & tofu eggplant . All are tasty. The service was excellent. The price is reasonable compared to NYC & LA. We enjoyed our dinner time.

Visited this place for dinner with a couple friends. Prices are fair & the service is good. Got the sweet n sour pork, shrimp & pork fried rice & the beef with mixed vegetables. All the items were really good & I recommend trying it out if you're in the area!
