a world in which i can have a world in which i can have these bagels for breakfast every morning is a perfect, very yummy world. the bagels here are definitely a bit more untraditional, in terms of size, texture, & unique flavours like banana & honey, as well as their SCRUMPTIOUS cream cheese selection. i tried their smoked meat STUFFED BAGEL & it was insanely delectable. you can tell they didn't just throw a bunch of ingredients together haphazardly, but that they made sure everything worked well together. the smoked meat had a nice balance of chewy lean & fatty bits, & i really liked how it wasn't overly salty, oily, or overpowering. there was lots of melty cheese mingling with buttery, mushy mashed potatoes, which was super duper comforting. the bagel itself was super hefty, & the outside had a perfect slight crisp while retaining a nice & fluffy & soft doughy bread-like inside. the sesame seeds also sprinkled on top was also a nice touch of flavour. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE CREAM CHEESE THOUGH - it's much creamier &'watery' than your typical thick schmear, but it was soooo good. the sweetness of the honey went so well with that subtle, sharp jalapeno taste & garlicky undertone, & the creamy freshness gave such a nice bright contrast to the hot stuffed bagel filling.
I recently visited BBagels with my friend Sarah, who was invited in to taste the menu & shoot content. I came along as the hand model & very willing taste tester.
This is their first winter since opening in April 2025, & the intention behind the place really shows. The space used to be a clothing store before Byron & his family took it over, & now it feels warm & lived-in… with small details that tell a story. The concept started as a pop-up in Pointe-Saint-Charles, & that roots-first energy is still very present.
The bagels themselves are fluffy & filling, with a crisp exterior & a soft interior. They offer both classic options & playful twists like za'atar-crusted or smoked-meat-stuffed bagels. My favorite schmear was the honey garlic jalapeno… sweet on the first bite, then slowly warming, the kind of flavor that keeps you ripping & dipping until there's nothing left. A close second was the scallion & lemon zest, bright & fresh, with just enough tang to cut through the richness.
What stood out most was the care behind the scenes. BBagels takes a very practical zero-waste approach: leftover bagels become homemade chips offered as samples, & a single lemon is fully used across the menu… zest in schmear, juice for homemade lemonade, & the rest folded into marmalade. Nothing feels performative, just thoughtful.
They offer open-faced sandwiches, rip-&-dip bagels, stuffed bagels, & recently added soup. The soup does sell out quickly, so arriving earlier is a good idea. That said, it feels less like a drawback & more like a sign that everything here is made in real time, not mass-produced or rushed.
Byron runs the shop as a true family business, & you'll sometimes see his kids helping out, which adds to the sense of community. By the door, there's also a small notebook where customers can doodle or leave a note, like a casual guest book that quietly reinforces that neighborhood feel.
Not flashy & not trying too hard… just well-made bagels, excellent schmear, & a clear sense of care behind every decision. A place that feels good to support, & even better to eat at.

I'm amazed by the banana honey bagel. The richness of the flavor is like haven. I'm not sweet tooth & the sweetness of the bagel is perfect for me. Also bought their home made cream cheese & will attempt to reproduce at home when I go back to Toronto.
The owner/baker is very friendly & she's very helpful & obviously passionate. I personally didn't like the intensely elaborate bagels. To be offering New York style bagels in a city like Montreal, right next to St-Viateur, I really wish they offered at least normal breakfast options like regular cheese & butter instead of what looks like a carnival food item. Hard to find these bagels in Montreal when you're only visiting for a few days & you dont like Montreal-style bagels. I think they're leaving an opportunity on the table here to just offer great, non-elabortate simple bagel as an option. The plain bagel is tasty! But I could barely even bite into the banana, jalapeno, cream honey thing with lemon zest & rosemary - you are doing way too much for a bagel. The whole concept is strange in my opinion. It's like dessert on a bagel (& of course way more expensive than a normal bagel with toppings). & the zaatar wasn't great either. Also the place was full of bees when we were there in October. My girlfriend enjoyed her other dill pickle bagel though.
Finally, they have these intensely elaborate bagels but not a coffee machine. If you want coffee with your bagel (whether for breakfast or dessert) they encourage you to go for a walk & pick up a coffee from somewhere else & come back to pick up your bagel 😂
I came to this area hoping to try the famous St. Viateur bagel, but turned away after seeing a massive lineup. Waiting 30 minutes for a single bagel didn't seem worth it, so I wandered over & discovered bbagel instead.
There was no line, & the friendly clerk took the time to explain the menu in detail. Their bagels are noticeably larger & thicker than the traditional Montreal style. I ordered an everything bagel with honey jalapeno cream cheese. It was a solid bagel. Nothing mind-blowing, but it's still pretty good.
Don't WALK, RUN to your favorite new bagels in Montreal. Trust me, I'm a native New Yorker with exquisite taste buds & very picky with my bagels esp when I feel like nothing beats NYC :) My husband & I were in Montreal for the week trying all the original & viral & top lists & BBagels will for sure leave a mark as the last thing we ate in the city, but certainly the most remarkable! I stumbled on this place on the map because we were looking for best bagel & tried five spots BEFORE discovering BBagels but all of them were lacking flavor, too long of lines, Hyped, cold bagels, too much sesame & then comes to find out that the typical Montreal style bagel is thin & kinda like a fagel, & has honey in it!!! 😭 NOT BBagels though, no honey! I was kindly educated by this nice man who helped me & explained BBagels is new since March. Not sure if he was the owner but I didn't want him to give me anything for free for my review so I just listened to his story & about their bagels & how they don't use honey so everything is vegan friendly! There was even a lot of speciality spreads & cream cheeses that are vegan too. I picked up a scallion & lemon zest cream cheese for my husband & I had tried the vegan chimmichuri butter one! Sooooo good. I love that BBagels is lesser known so there was NO line I walked straight in & was greeted with a smile & gave me a rundown on how the bagel routine worked - you rip a piece off & dip into your spread & it reminded me of Pop Up Bagel style in NYC! I love how all three of the bagels we tried were piping hot & straight out of the oven. So much flavor & fluffy!!! We had the Za'atar, Salt, & Everything. They also had some open faced specials too but I was just on the hunt for a simple bagel so we could do a comparison! Since this place is new I think it still needs to be discovered so I'm sure they are going to go viral soon! It's also perfect with a Cafe Olympico Iced Latte so def hit up both places & enjoy in the lovely parks.
Incredibly tasty bagels, & I absolutely love the'rip & dip' format because it means I can portion the dip to bagel ratio exactly how I like it. The honey garlic + jalepeno dip is outstanding!
Perfect breakfast for our Montreal trip. The bagels were probably the best I've ever had & the fact that they have vegan options is top tier. The honey banana & the antipasti were incredible.
The bagels are so fluffy & delicious. it's a dipping concept & would highly recommend their honey garlic jalapeno & lemon zest scallion. absolutely delicious & very friendly.
i never leave reviews but this was incredible. the open-face smoked salmon sandwich was crafted by gods. savoury spread, fresh toppings, smoky perfection. & the rip & dip honey garlic jalapeno schmear is delicious - can't get enough. Super friendly staff, easy access spot w/ a cool view of local downtown life.

Crispy on the outside & ridiculously soft on the inside. These bagels were the highlight of our Montreal trip & also had the sweetest owners. Took the time to explain how their bagel shop functioned & how to order!
Highly recommend checking this place out for some melt in your mouth food (the honey jalapeno spread with the fresh warm bagels- 10/10)
We split sesame bagel with honey jalapeno cream cheese as well as the salmon sandwich. The bagels are so fluffy, warm & soft, perfect for pulling apart. The cream cheese was outstanding. The star really was the salmon bagel sandwich, easily the best bagel I have ever had. The dill, lemon zest & all of toppings were incredible & the salmon was so fresh. The owner was also so kind & excited to share his concept with us. Could not recommend this place enough.
I took the Z'atar bagel with Honey, garlic & jalapeno (pretty great combo in my opinion) spread. I enjoyed their quality, selection of bagels & spreads. There are vegan & non-vegan options available to chose from. The only comment I have is there is no menu or price board or lists of sandwhiches available, when visiting the shop. Perhaps it's a customer service choice. Overall it is worth the visit if you're curious to change up your breakfast/snack or bagel route!
Stopped in on my way home & grabbed a sesame, a zaatar & an all dressed bagel with a honey jalapeno smear & a jar of the'everything' sauce to try.
Everything was delicious, service was super friendly. I'll definitely be back to try the green onion & lemon smear & restock on the everything sauce!

I had the salt bagel with honey jalapeno cream cheese & my partner tried the green onion & lemon cream cheese. The flavors of the cream cheese were delicious & unique. The bagels were warm, crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside, & quite large. Everything was great & we will be coming back. Hoping for some more cream cheese flavors in the future ☺?
