This dish should relies heavily on a high-flavor dressing to cut through the fat & provide umami, acid, & salt. The dish traditionally requires sharp, pungent additions like capers, cornichons, shallots, & Worcestershire sauce to contrast the raw meat??? It was chopped with no added ingredients…Lack of punch & ingredients I was really surprised a fine dine restaurant such this??? This restaurant is known for a back ribs as specialty as well but I just find it so so. With the price range not worth it.Please look unto this matter. It used to be a nice restaurant with good quality food. But this time the chef failed sorry.I'm posting this for you to be aware.

Went for a nice dinner with my wife before COVID I was a regular at the bar there ordered rib steak medium done & got it rare by the time the server came my wife was done her meal took it back & cooked some more did not enjoy my food manager didn't even come to see us
Came for lunch. They are currently running lunch specials 7 days a week. Food was good especially the ribs. Burgers were mid, fries were cold ( shoestring fries are difficult , order them extra crisp & they will come hot)
I had the rack of ribs with a BBQ chicken breast & a side, which was a loaded baked potato! Very filling & flavorful. It was worth the $39.
Good service, & short wait time for the food. The drinks were yummy but the ribs were just average, perhaps lacking a bit of flavour.
I need to get this off my chest: although it's been a while since the Baton Rouge on Rue des Jockeys in Montréal was renovated, I still haven't been able to get used to the new look. I really miss the old design - it had a warm, dark, almost classic steakhouse feel that gave the space a lot of character. It felt cozy, even a little upscale. Now, the atmosphere is colder & more minimal, & for me, something essential was lost in that change. I know some people might prefer the newer, more modern aesthetic - but personally, I find it a step backward.
That said, I keep coming back - & there's a reason for that. The service here is consistently excellent: attentive, professional, & always friendly. The food is just as good as ever. Their signature ribs are as tender & flavorful as you'd hope, & their hand-selected Canadian AAA steaks are always cooked to perfection, tender & beautifully marbled. Honestly, you can't really go wrong with anything on the appetizer menu either - everything is well-portioned, satisfying, & made to share. Their cocktails are another highlight - thoughtfully mixed & surprisingly refined for a casual grillhouse.
What really makes this location stand out is how versatile it is. Whether I've come here for a dinner date, a family meal, a birthday celebration, or even a business lunch, it's always delivered. The bar area also adds a nice touch for a more laid-back visit, which gives it even more flexibility.
It's not my favorite Baton Rouge location, simply because I miss the way it used to feel - but when it comes to food, service, & value, it still sets the bar. & for that, it remains a go-to.
Amazing good & atmosphere
Price was very very decent
We had a wonderful time celebrating our son's birthday (20yo)
You can never go wrong with ribs & fries at baton
The spinach cheese dip is a definite must
Calamari was actually very tasty
I recommend
The atmosphere is warm & inviting, & the staff is attentive & friendly, which made the visit enjoyable. The ribs were good but nothing to rave about - tender but lacking that wow factor. The coleslaw, unfortunately, was a miss for me; it didn't complement the ribs & felt like an afterthought ,the fries were cold when they came to the table & baked beans were drowning in tomato sauce. The food was all right but not memorable. I enjoyed the service & the setting more than the actual meal. If you're going for a relaxed evening with good service, it's a decent choice .
My family & I found this restaurant in an online search. It attracted our eye with the variety of foods offered, & it had something everybody could enjoy. When we arrived, we were greeted immediately & sat. Our server came over a few minutes later & asked us for drink selections, & they were received in less than 5 minutes. I ate a hamburger, my wife ordered chicken with rice pilaf, my son had the rack of ribs, & my daughter ordered a salad. Everything came with generous portions & tasted great. My son's ribs fell off the bone, & my burger was perfect. Everything was flavorful & hot upon given to us. I felt the pricing was very fair as the most expensive dinner was my son's ribs at $30, which is very fair for the product served.
Our server was great, the atmosphere was perfect with lower lighting, & it was not loud at all. I enjoyed the fact that it was a casual restaurant, but the staff dressed very nicely & gave outstanding customer service. It made you feel like you were at a higher end establishment with good food, service, & prices. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area, it won't disappoint!
Reasonable meal of Ribs, bbq sauce was very mild, almost watery but ribs were very good!
We visited Baton Rouge in Montreal last night. The atmosphere was decent - a mix between a sports bar & a pub-style restaurant. Service was friendly, but a bit scattered; we were helped by four different servers throughout the evening. Everyone was kind, though it felt a bit disorganized.
The food came out quickly & the portions were huge, but the quality didn't quite match the quantity. The price of the food & drinks also did not match the quality. Appie, two drinks & mains over $160.
If you're looking for generous portions of okay food, this might be your spot. But if you're after the'best ribs in town,' you may want to keep looking.
This is a lively place, full of friendly staff & good food. I discover they have a Monday Special on ribs. How were the fall off the meat ribs? Just reference the attached'AFTER' photo. They had a nice glaze with plenty of flavor. Don't forget to finish it off with a Creme Brulee.
You can't go wrong at this Baton Rouge restaurant. With an extensive menu, from salads to lobster & steak, customers will get excellent quality no matter what is ordered.
But if you want me to recommend something... you can't go wrong with their amazing ribs. They are, by far, the best in the city.
If you decide to sit at the bar, you can enjoy a smaller rib portion, but you can also enjoy their delicious, juicy, fully loaded burger & fries.
Lots of parking & easily accessible by subway.
A great option for good food.
We came to Bâton Rouge for dinner & overall had a great experience. The atmosphere was cozy & welcoming, & the staff were attentive throughout the evening.
The standout, as always, was the ribs-still incredibly delicious. Tender, juicy, & packed with smoky flavor, they never disappoint. At just $29 for a full rib dinner, the value is excellent, especially considering the quality & portion size.
One thing that left a bit of a sour note: they had a happy hour drink special, but it only applies if you physically walk over & drink at the bar. If you order the exact same drink from your dinner table, the price jumps back to regular. It doesn't make much sense & honestly feels a bit unfair to seated guests.
That aside, the food quality & service make this a spot I'd still recommend-especially if you're here for the ribs.
Baby back ribs have gone down in quality & gone up in price. Too much sauce on it...lay off the sauce guys....baked potato was great with toutes garnier! Server was great & new Reno was ok but it makes a nice refresh so cudos to them.....I like the old dark & woodsy kind of look....parking is great 👍 . Bar look not for me. Too much glass meaning I get it you want to make it look big & spacious but when it's a house of mirrors look .....ehh not that great 😃. Overall great place!
Baton Rouge Grill House is a great spot! I had the ribs & chicken, & they were both delicious. The ribs were tender & full of flavor, while the chicken was juicy & perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend for a tasty meal!
Lower priced option for a Lunch steak. It's been consistently good actually for the Steak Frite which comes with healthy helping of fries of Garlic Mash. It's not my first choice for a great SUPPER steak, BUT, at lunch, for a reasonable price, it is a good option. Also had their ribs & burgers there & they don't disapoint. Also had a few selections of soups which are Harty & very good tasting. Always leave there satisfied.
My favorite place for a rack of ribs. Polite service & a calm atmosphere.
