My wife & I decided to go to Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar because we didn't feel like driving all the way into Montreal for a decent rib steak. Big mistake.
The place wasn't even busy, yet the service was already off from the start. Our waiter,'Steph' didn't even bother introducing himself until I asked. Basic service 101. When you approach a table, you present yourself. What is this new trend of servers acting like they're too good to do the bare minimum?
He asked if we wanted tap or sparkling water. I said tap is fine with an iced tea & ordered a gin & club soda on the side. The drink shows up & it's completely bare. No lemon, no lime, no garnish, nothing. Zero effort, zero presentation. & if you see a piece of lemon in the picture, that's only because I had to ask for it myself.
We ordered crab cakes as appetizers, & wow… the portion was laughably small. This isn't some high-end fine dining spot where tiny plates are expected, it's a steakhouse. On top of that, there was a napkin on the floor near our table that staff, including a manager in a dark grey blazer, kept walking past & ignoring for over an hour. Not a huge deal on its own, but details matter. This isn't supposed to be some low-standard place.
Then the rib steak came. I asked for medium. What I got was closer to rare. Unless you think I'm a Viking who eats raw meat, that's unacceptable.
To finish it off, the bartender clearly doesn't know how to make a proper layered liquor coffee, even though it's presented that way on the menu. The waiter tried to cover for it by saying,'it's hard to make.' That's not an excuse. It's literally part of the job, just like cooking a steak properly.
We also ordered the apple pecan dessert. I even told the waiter to warm it up in the oven, not because it's complicated, but because the menu clearly shows it served in a cast iron dish, so obviously it's not meant to come out of a microwave. Instead, it came out cold & hard as a rock, in this case he ignored & was lazy.
& somehow, I still left a 20 pts, not because it was deserved, but to prove that money isn't the issue here. This was just bad service, plain & simple. Normally I'd give a nice $2 tip at the end with passion but luckily for him I had elsewhere to go that night. Already, he rolled his eyes for the coffee liquor.
If the owner is reading this, talk to your team. & I clearly said the owner not the manager who walked past a napkin. This was a complete lack of professionalism, attention to detail, & basic service standards.
Le service au lunch est pourri, lent. Le serveur a pris trop de temps pour nous servir & nos plat sont arrivé en retard. L'ambiance est à désiré. Sérieux meilleur service au keg ou autre steakhouse

Went in with some coworkers for a few drinks after work & 260$ later I found out that they don't serve chicken wings or nachos, we had to content ourselves with a spinach dip that was ok !! & the best steak tartare I have had in a very long time, I find that BR could consider putting finger foods on their menu,the actual menu lacked it ..
Cesar ($9) was dry & no dressing & lots of fishy taste from anchovies. I didn't eat it told the waiter about it. He took it away & I was still charged. The calamar app. 8 pieces for 22 (2.75 a small ring)! Waiter agreed & said he'll bring more & never did. (The menu photo had 30+ pieces btw). Pasta was ok for fast food resto had seafood pasta too much sauce but it's a chain & steakhouse so understood. I emailed them Saturday but never got a response yet. Makes sense the resto was empty. Potato soup no longer on menu. Reviews said it was the best thing there. Photos are menu photo of calamar & actual (8 pieces). Spent $350 4 people had wine & drinks as well. The steak board apparently was good my friends had it. Veggies were tasty. Waiter has been with BR for 25+ years was nice just thought he'd comp the salad that wasn't eaten, but didn't. The meal was disappointing in general.
Champignons cramés, steak mal cuit, j'y était allé il y a quelques mois & même chose avec le steak. On a compris le message, on va aller ailleur. Clairement, ils ont changé de staff dans la cuisine depuis 1 an & ce n'est plus bon comme avant.
Don't get the spinach dip. It's oily, barely any spinach. The taste is basically melted oily cheese. Veggies on the plate are sad. Frozen string beans a few carrots. Steak was ok. Fries remind me of fresh McD's just taken out of the fryer.. But then as they get colder.. cardboard dry kind of feel. You guys eat them fast when they are hot, then it's game over.
I had a fantastic experience at Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar!
The first night I visited, I had an excellent, incredibly tender steak-perfectly cooked, with outstanding flavor. The vegetables were fresh & complemented the meal beautifully.
The next day, I tried the grilled chicken breast with vegetables & other sides, & once again, everything was excellent.
FOOD in my opinion excellent. 5/5 star!
The restaurant was very clean, & the service was excellent-friendly, attentive, & professional.
Overall, a great place to enjoy a high-quality meal. I highly recommend it & will definitely return!
The food is good, the recipes from this banner are tried & truly excellent, yet it's not quite the success it was: steak was under cooked for what was asked (rare blue rather than rare), mashed potatoes were overly garlicky, veggies were overcooked. The ribs were good. Service was impeccable though & the ambiance is enjoyable as usual.
Not the place to go on Monday afternoon it appears. Went in with a late lunch date 2:00 p.m. Didn't want to make a scene while on a date, my steak was overcooked & tasted waterlogged plus the service was really slow. No crowd at that time, no reason for poor service, lazy staff. Didn't want to sit around for another hour or it would have gone back. Time is more precious than money.
Bon service de la part du serveur, repas pour un groupe de 12 personnes. Repas correct, sans plus. La bavette était très ordinaire, raide. Légumes froid. Pomme de terre "garnie" à peine garnie. Portion minimes. Crème brulée comme dessert à peine remplie de crème. Les portions sont décevantes. Pain à l'ail gratiné qui flotte dans l'huile. Il y a mieux en terme de steak house.
Ce n'est plus comme avant.C'est mieux d'aller ailleur. -Soupe servi froide avec pas d'ustensiles... demander à plusieurs reprise ... -patate au four toute garni avec literalement 4-5 miettes de fromage... -menu nous avise que les côte levés sont servi avec une salade de chou... on nous avise qu'il faut demander cela ? On nous le sert a la fin de notre plat...? -enfin le steak, manque d'assaisonnement

Toujours mon premier choix lorsque nous voulons un bon steak.

J'ai eu un gros morceau de gras dans la poutine au steak de plus le gout de truffles etait pas present

Our meal was terrific - my steak was tender & juicy & done to a turn. Our shrimp brochettes were cooked just right. & Chris's service was prompt & attentive. A great dining experience! Thanks to all - kitchen, bar & serving staff.
Bigger ribs portions than before. Everything is quite expensive. They even have a 150$ steak.

Was excellent.
The restaurant is very clean .
Lots of parking .
Was quickly seated even with no reservations.
Not as busy as the Galery D'Anjou branch
Second visit
Excellent surprise, took the " Filet Mignon" with sauted mushrooms & melted Brie cheese 🧀 was an excellent combination. Sides of Yam 🍠 fries 🍟 & greens 😋.
A pink lemonade for beverage , very good also .
Waiter Kosta, very friendly & professional.

Took a 25 onces porterhouse, with lobster 🦞 tail , just incredible, high-quality cut of meat 🍖 , lobster 🦞 tail delicious 😋.
