I came on a Monday June 30th at 2:45 pm . We were seated & immediately told we had 5 mins to order for the lunch / kitchen was closing at 3 pm !!! We felt super stressed as we cycled from the old port . This was a special occasion as my wife was 8 months post opened heart surgery . We wanted to celebrate but felt super stressed as we were immediately told to order otherwise we were screwed for food !! Ordered a sandwich , pasta a glass of wine & beer . Was given one menu which we were sharing quickly etc etc . We were sitting at the window inside & noticed other clients ordering from the terrace after we finished our lunch so of course I asked the menu & ordered a entree which we missed in the rush of being told to order . Ordered a ricotta foccacia Honey snd more drinks etc later the person who greeted us brought us two chocolatine in a paper bag to take home . I guess he realized it was inappropriate ! Later another server asked if we wanted one or two bills . I said one & brought us the bill & came with payment machine . I told her the lunch bill is 150$ & we will be ordering more stuff as we just wanted to listen to the music & feel humble & grateful be there healthy etc The server said the paper bag on the table made her think we were leaving ! Finally I didn't order anything else & decided to leave ! I gave you 5 stars all around as we are grateful to be healthy & appreciate everything life has to offer . You really need to look at your workflow as many different people came to our table & missed the interaction flow & service from the previous person . I was ordering drinks all along etc Gracias for the chocolatine but you missed out on the human component of why we came to your place . Its was not only about the food the reason we came . In all the moving parts it takes one person to look at the floor & tables & quickly see what experience each table is looking for . It's special when you tune into that as you make a difference in a day of a person / create memories etc Great summeView more

I used to LOVE this place but unfortunately will not be in my favourites anymore. The waitors don't come see you often & i was very thirsty waiting for water, to order dessert, drinks, i even had to wait 30 minutes to finally request the bill. I stopped multiple waitors to request for salt, or water, a drink. The atmosphere is VERY LOUD. The music, the people, so if you're looking for a calmer environment this isn't your place!!! Waiting times are also very long & the thing i appreciate least is HOW TIGHT THIS PLACE IS! Sit on the terrace if you want more space because inside you will sometimes sit with strangers on tables that are stuck, or can sit on 4 people table with 2 strangers if you're 2 people. The pasta is amazing but the shrimp pasta was a dish i did not like at all. The ragu, the cacio e pepe, the ceasar's salad, foccacia, all BANGERS. Unfortunately i rated this place a 2 because after sharing my disappointment with the taste of shrimp pasta sauce (taste like fishy sea water), the person in charge was very deceived/resentful & said they'd still charge me for personal taste. I come from a family of fishers, i love shrimps but this sauce was not it. Pros: food is good (except for shrimp pasta in my personal opinion) & the drinks have virgin drinks & freshhhh food. Cons: too tight, too loud, long waiting lines (although outside of their control) & rude response from person in charge if you dislike/have an opinion based on certain foods!View more

2024: just came for afternoon drinks. Was provided with great wine glass recommendations. Also had the Rome With a View cocktail which was good. 2022: Came here for lunch. Excellent service. Very attentive. Helped find something we thought we lost. Ordered the arancini & the pâte au beurre from the main menu as well the sandwich & smoked salmon from the pop-up. Everything was delicious & well-presented.View more

I recently visited Barbara Vin in Montreal with two friends for dinner & drinks, & overall, it was a great experience with a few minor downsides. Since they don't take reservations, we had to wait in line, which was a bit long, but the host was really accommodating. About halfway through the wait, he brought us to a little corner spot to browse the drink menu & enjoy a drink while we waited, which was a nice touch. He also offered us seating on the terrace, which is absolutely beautiful, but unfortunately, you can't have alcohol out there due to permit restrictions. The restaurant itself is very cute & fun, with cool decor that adds to the ambiance. We shared burrata, focaccia, parmesan fries as appetizers, followed by two pasta dishes (cacio e pepe & campanelle), which was plenty for the three of us. Everything was delicious! I had an Amaro Limonata, which was amazing, & my friends enjoyed margaritas. The drinks were good & affordable, but they were on the smaller side. While the vibe was super cool, the service was a little slow, & it took a while for our food to arrive. Despite that, I'd definitely go back & would recommend this spot to others. Food is not what I expected but then again I did not know it was more of a bar with a few ordinary food item on the list than a restaurant. This is a great place to eat Italian food & try amazing drinks. I recommend you to make a reservation as it is usually pretty busy & the waiting time can get up to 2 hours on the weekend. For food we tried the pappardelle, the pork escalope, the spritz, & the ciao ciao fizz with gin. Unfortunately it started to rain & we were sitting outside, so we couldn't stay for dessert. We'll be back for sure.View more

Such a great place for a date. Nice atmosphere & drinks. Really lovely terrasse in the summer. We love the food. You must get the ricotta foccacia - it is so delicious. My partner & I generally get a few plates to share - a vegetable, a pasta dish, an entree, & the foccacia. Everything is always really tasty & the service is quite good.View more

My flight was delayed & just picked BarBara from a map, about 20 minutes away. Located on a quaint part of Notre Dame, open space to the street with a nice patio. Young-ish crowd, very friendly. Very disappointing experience. Waited an hour to be seated. Because there are no reservations, the atmosphere is super chaotic & you end up cramped up on a tiny table. The menu is really unclear, very hard to even tell which meals are vegetarian or not, & there's literally only 5 dinner options, 3 of which are not vegetarian. The food is okay, but it's incredibly overpriced. The drinks are actually foul. Our waiter was very nice & clearly trying their best but you can feel their stress seeing how chaotic the place is. Super trendy resto bar cafe where you can just hang out with friends. They don't pressure you to leave or to order. We stayed here for a few hours & only ordered drinks. They also brought us complimentary pastries. Service was very good & they were all very nice. All of the food also looked delicious. Service was chaotic & inefficient, our drinks were sitting at the bar for 10 minutes before someone realized & brought them to us. Incredible establishment. I come here at least once weekly & I've been here across seasons for coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, & recently, even a New Year's tasting menu. This place is incredible for a litany of reasons & my review will just scratch the surface. Food: I came for the the Cacio e Pepe croissant (RIP, bring this back please) & stayed for... well, everything else. The coffee is incredible (I get the pistachio latte at least once weekly) & I haven't had a bad dish for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The menus span the gradient of baked goods & simple fried finger foods to complex & creative dishes (with fantastic wine pairings to accompany them.) The food is top tier whether you're going small or big. Service: Not many places you can go to & see the same friendly faces each time you go. Someone must be doing something right because turnover here compared to other establishments seems minimal & service is warm, friendly, quick, & informed. Very chill & relaxed vibe, & every person I've interacted with has been nothing short of awesome. Atmosphere: I can't begin to do the vibe this place has justice... the decor... the unpredictable but always spot on interesting tunes & music playing... it's just a cool place with an incredible atmosphere. This is a go to spot we bring people who are visiting to & without fail it's always a hit. I love getting some work done in the mornings where things are chill... you've got some light tribe called quest playing in the background, the restaurant is getting all the light from outside with the curtain wall windows, & everything & everyone is seemingly relaxed & hanging out. Then you get the transition into the awesome energy this place has in the evenings & in terrace season, where this place gets filled with energy that somehow feels intimate, & is absolutely thriving. We even did the New Year's tasting menu recently & brought in the new year having a blast with the whole restaurant - customers & staff alike. Ate & drank & danced in & out of our seats with great mix of tunes. Overall & TL;DR This place is cool with awesome food, drink, service, & vibes.View more

I have been to BarBara a few times & the food is always as good, fresh & tasty! The staff is very friendly, the ambiance of the place is cozy & lovely. What I also like is that's it doubles as a café during the day so you can also drop by for a quick coffee or matcha break. A bit of a side note, but their matcha lattes hot or iced are very well prepared & taste very good. I always like to bring my friends here, the price is very reasonable & some side dishes can definitely be shared. I would say some of my favorite items are the arancini, the burrata & the cacio e pepe. They have a good wine & alcohol selection as well. Just a few things to consider is that they do not take reservations so you have to be there early on typical weekend evenings because you might have to wait for a little while. However, you can always order a drink or a side dish while you wait. That being said, I would recommend you to try this place!View more

Came here on a sunday around 7:30 pm for drinks. We were immediately seated, which was nice considering the last time I left because of the huge line. It should be noted that the service was amazing. I forgot to get the name of the waitress, but she took real good care of us especially when choosing the wine. The calamari & focaccia were pretty tasty to pair with the drinks. The atmosphere was perfect. This is for sure one of the best terrasses in montreal!View more

A friend & I had the most wonderful evening at Bar Bara last night. We popped in unexpectedly for one drink & stayed for appys & a full dinner just because it felt so nice to be there. This was 100% due to one server who from he very first Hi was absolutely charming, knowledgeable & just so kind! Jacob described the menu with genuine excitement , had us trying new wines, & chatted with us in a way that was reminiscent of a small town catch up. A joy. The food is always top notch but as a business owner myself service is key & they've hired a gem. Bar Bara give Jacob a raise. Everyone else go enjoy an evening & stay awhile :)View more
