We got the tasting menu. It was a fun variety of dishes to share. Some were delicious such as the razor clam or the beef tartare. Some others were just ok.
The service is good & we didn't wait too long for the dishes. The price is decent for the amount of food we got. Definitely worth trying.
Really enjoyed my visit here. The ambiance is lovely, & I loved the open-concept kitchen-it adds a lot of energy to the space. One thing to note though: the lighting is very bright earlier in the evening, so personally I wouldn't pick this spot for a first date (unless you're going for fully-lit, no-mystery vibes).
A heads-up for anyone booking: we were told that with a reservation, you're expected to order at least two plates per person. The portions are smaller & designed for sharing, so it makes sense, but it's definitely good to know going in.
Food-wise, highlights were the razor clams & tabbouleh-both tasted super fresh & vibrant. The labneh was great too, & the bread that came with it was good, but we definitely needed more bread to match the labneh-to-bread ratio. We also ordered the fries, which were a really generous portion, & the duck, which was delicious (slightly on the salty side) but worked really well with the mushrooms. We finished with a couple seafood pasta dishes-light overall, but the seafood really shone.
Overall, the price-to-quality ratio feels solid, & we had a great time trying a bunch of dishes.
Would recommend if you want to try something new!

We had the menu from November 2025, & it was underwhelming. Scallop crudo, matsutake, beef tartare & monkfish. The natural flavors of the matsutake, raw beef & monkfish were overwhelmed by other very strong flavors. Beef tartare with white anchovies just tasted like anchovy flavored paste. Monkfish tasted like bacon flavored flakes. Not particularly bold or interesting combinations & they really compromised/muddled the quality of the main premium ingredients by adding so much other stuff. All of the dishes had components that were wholly unnecessary or actually made the overall dish worse. Service was great & it's nice to see an open kitchen. Not anything horrible taste wise, but did not live up to its price point & reputation.
Lovely meal. Spacing for dishes was a bit weird, we ordered 4 dishes from the cold section & fries. The asparagus & fries came last with about 15-20 minutes after the 3 other cold dishes. If I'm ordering fries I'd want to eat them through out my meal.
Baked Alaska was so so..not worth the price & a bit too sweet. My mom was also in the bathroom but they didn't wait to bring it out, for an ice cream dessert & a place with this price tag I expected a bit more tact. Not a big deal though!
Scallops, razor clams, & tomato were all amazing! Would come back overall.
Delightful dining experience at Bar St-Denis! The tasting menu showcased the chef's creativity & skill, with each dish expertly prepared & presented.
There were 5 services for the tasting menu: (1) salmon & razor clams, which were cooked to perfection & bursting with citrusy flavor & crunchy texture. (2) The veal tartare with sardines was a bold & intriguing combination, with the veal wonderfully seasoned & the sardines adding a welcome tanginess. However, this dish may not appeal to those who prefer milder flavors. The labneh bread that goes with the veal tartare was a revelation - soft, crunchy, & infused with delicate spices. (3) The gnocchi was cooked al dente, with a well-spiced sauce, although the slight bitterness of the greens may not suit every palate. (4) The duck magret was phenomenal, with a rich, balanced sauce that complemented the duck perfectly. The only misstep was the (5) toffee pudding cake, which was overly sweet.
Our wine selection, however, was fairly priced & paired well with our meal. The espresso martini was a highlight, with a perfect balance of vodka & espresso.
Our waitress was friendly & attentive, although she could have been more proactive in refilling our water glasses. Overall, we would highly recommend this place for a special occasion or nice dinner. While it may not become a regular haunt for us, it's definitely worth a visit! Thanks to the team; my husband & I had a great date night!
The food was good (solid falafel, perfectly cooked duck) but the price points were really off for some dishes (40 dollars for cabbage... throwing in chanterelles doesn't justify that price). Service at the table was fine, but the front of house staff was extremely odd. We showed up for a reservation around 9pm & the table wasn't ready for ~30 minutes. The response? "Yeah this is a good lesson, don't pay for the bill & take too long to leave the table as a customer". Yikes.
Great little restaurant that serves small shareable plates. We had the discovery menu. The food, service & atmosphere were good. Wine selection is ok. A bit pricey but we had a good time.

The service was slow we waited 40 in between our starter & our main, but the waitress was nice & apologetic about it. The food wasn't anything special, the steak we got was mostly fat. For the price we ended up paying I was hoping for better. It was $173 with tax & tip. We only had 1 stater to share 2 mains & 2 drinks.
Went with a few friends. Service & atmosphere were very good. We took the tasting. We weren't impressed. Nothing bad. But nothing remarkable either. Needs more complex flavours. Price was adequate.
The atmosphere is very nice. Super cool open kitchen concept with not very loud music & great for a cosy setting. Menu is definitely interesting & the wine list is great. That said, the reason I am leaving 4 stars is because for the price range, I was excepting something exceptional & was not mind blown. It was good, but not competitive compared to a lot of the other great restaurants in the neighbourhood. Some of the dishes lacked a certain finesse in how they were put together. Otherwise, a great spot for a romantic evening.
I went to Bar St-Denis on a Thursday night, & it was an OK place. First, I have to mention the service. Our waiter was outstanding. It was truly a service to be praised. He was attentive, refilled our water all the time, offered counsel on what to choose while putting no pressure at all. Very charming The atmosphere was good, the decor is beautiful & it's a small enough place so that it's fun to be in while being classy. However, we took the "discovery" tour that is 75-80$ per person. Some of it was good, now most of it was very fancy while not being very good for the price. Tiny portions, explained in a high class or pompous manner that some of my colleagues were in awe of with the wine pairing. I find that it was very overpriced for food that was being passed as "classy", while not being very tasty. One of the good things is that the formula was good for people who like to share.

Great dining experience! The atmosphere was great, food was amazing & interesting! Only downside was a lack of knowledge of our waiter on the cocktails & wine list. Also keep in mind it is on a pricey side for the dishes. Would recommend!
