Le bar est une force avec des cocktails créatifs et bien équilibrés et une carte des vins bien choisie bien que courte, tandis que la nourriture est plutôt variable: des plats savoureux et bien présentés comme le canard et le tartare, mais des portions petites et des plats parfois décevants pour le prix. Le service est fréquemment salué pour sa gentillesse et son efficacité, avec un personnel attentif qui rend l'expérience agréable, et certains commentaires évoquent même une amélioration après un changement de direction et une équipe renouvelée. Dans l'ensemble, Bar Kabinet apparaît comme un endroit idéal pour une soirée entre amis ou en tête à tête autour d'un verre de qualité dans un cadre élégant, mais il faut s'attendre à des portions modestes et à des variations selon le plat et le soir, ce qui en fait une adresse à découvrir plutôt qu'une valeur sûre pour un repas copieux.
Kind of chose this on a whim in our 30hr visit to Montreal from Vermont. Greatest whim in a long time Grigor was out server & he was great. He described the dishes & drinks perfectly. Guided us towards house specials & for our food order, made sure we not only had enough, but also made the experience so enjoyable. Grigor offered tastes of all of the wines by the glass & also described them to a t. Made me want to stay & have more but family...
As for the food, we had one of each dish & every one was prepared very well. From the opener of Hamachi crudo which was so simple but the flavors of the tomato base & the Hamachi itself made a great marriage in the mouth. As the food progressed, the layers of flavors increased to the showstoppers in my opinion, the potatoes & then the duck.
The potatoes were on a base of what I'd call ajvar, a pureed red pepper sauce but with some vinegar in there too. This offset the richness of the duck fat potatoes & I could have ordered more of them until I passed out from a food coma, but family...
Then the duck came out. On a base of pureed apple, the duck was perfectly cooked medium rare & the flavors melded so perfectly.
Along with the food, the cocktails were expertly crafted & again, worth seeking out.
Overall, this was a crazy good experience that I'd come back to Montreal from my home in Brooklyn for. I have a reason to drive further to ski Tremblant

We had such a great night at Kabinet. We ordered the caviar tower, which was super fun & absolutely delicious. The manager, Dominick, recommended a champagne pairing that was perfect. You could tell he really knew his stuff, & he made us feel totally taken care of.
The vibe of the place is intimate & cute, but also lively enough that I could easily see myself coming back with friends.
The staff were all incredibly friendly & attentive. It really felt like they cared.
Definitely a spot we'll be revisiting upon our next visit to Montreal.
Fantastic experience! The duck was delicious, & the fries with the bell pepper sauce were incredible. The tartare was also amazing-even for someone who isn't a big fan of salty dishes, it was perfectly balanced & flavorful. & the drinks were amazing,truly a Craft bar. Carrigan was so friendly, welcoming, & funny-she made the meal even more enjoyable. Ixchel was also wonderful, & their great teamwork really stood out. Looking forward to my next visit!

Une bonne expérience dans l'ensemble. Le canard était cuit à la perfection. Les pommes de terre pas transcendantes mais tout de même bonnes. Un poil cher à notre goût.
A Hidden Gem That Just Keeps Getting Better!
I recently went back to Kabinet in Montreal for the second time, now under new administration & new Executive Chef - & I have to say, I didn't think it was possible, but the experience was even better than my first visit!
The atmosphere remains as stylish & inviting as ever, but the new team has taken things to another level. The service was flawless, & the food… absolutely unforgettable.
Highly recommend the salad (fresh, vibrant, perfectly balanced), the smoked trout (a standout-delicate & flavorful), & the asparagus (elevated to perfection) Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared & beautifully presented.
If you haven't been since the change in management, it's time to go back. & if it's your first time, you're in for a treat

Très bel endroit à l'ambiance & au service très sympathiques. Les cocktails sont réussis, le personnel a l'écoute. Côté cuisine, c'est réussi, avec de belles inspirations, la pieuvre bien cuite, le crudo parfait, mais peut être un peu cher pour des petites portions.
Bonne déco, on s'y sent bien.
Popped in for a couple of cocktails on a warm early spring day. The drinks were excellent & surpassed only by the pleasant staff. Great place all around!
