We watched the football game at George & we had the best time. Their food is terrific, the drinks are perfect & their service is really nice ! Would highly recommend
Très bonne expérience au bar George. Cadre magnifique, excellent DJ, personnel aimable & très bonne ambiance. Le hamburger est une tuerie !!! Je recommande & je reviendrais
Magnificent atmosphere, the utmost staff professionalism & some of the tastiest food & drinks I've ever had. I recommend anyone to pay a visit themselves, & at a bare minimum try the bar. It is very haute-couture with a dash of modernity, so dress in a reasonably decent fashion; I would say smart casual is the cut. The scenery is of an ostentatious late 19th century decor that contains 140+ years of Montreal history. The stained glass is mesmerizing, the woodwork unbelievable. Shout out to Jonathan, the best waiter in the dining hall for the last 3 years I've been visiting - an absolute champion who's extremely knowledgeable & provides the most fantastic service I've ever received at any restaurant. Cheers!
Ambiance is nice, very elegant. Good service, gets hot in the summer though. Nice wines, recommend the Sancerre. Loved the Hamachi, the fish itself was exceptional. The sauces were good but could be dimmed down to let the fosh show up more.
I had an exceptional dining experience. The atmosphere is simply awesome, with a perfect blend of historic charm & modern elegance. The service was amazing-attentive, friendly, & professional from start to finish. I tried the beef wellington, & it was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection & full of flavour. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable meal in a fantastic setting!
One of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been to! The food is just as beautiful & delicious & the waiters are always there to provide a nice personal touch. I recommend the mushroom soup! ❤️
Bar George in Montreal provided the perfect setting for my friend's bachelorette party. The stunning blend of historic charm & modern elegance set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The menu featured an impressive array of delicious dishes & expertly crafted cocktails that delighted everyone in our group. The attentive & friendly staff ensured our night went smoothly, adding to the overall enjoyment. From the vibrant atmosphere to the impeccable service, Bar George exceeded our expectations, making it a fantastic choice for a special celebration. Highly recommended for anyone looking to host a memorable event in Montreal!
a restaurant experience doesn't get better than this! cannot recommend this place enough. The vibes, the atmosphere & the music were top notch.
The food & service at Bar George is stunning. But the beautiful decor challenges it. Highly recommended.
Brunch is simply not worth the price. The ambiance is very nice, the place is very instagramable. The waiters were kind but they were not attentive at all. One of the servers almost brought our order to another table. In general, the food is just not worth it. The avocado & toast is literally bread with sliced avocado on top for 18$+tax; there is no sauce, salt or spices. The other dishes were good, just extremely overpriced. The wait time for the food was also quite long for our table. We were ready to order at 10h15. After placing our order, the dishes only came to us at 11h15. We also had a mixup where the waiter misheard hot chocolate & brought my friend a hot toddy instead. If you're going to this restaurant for the pictures, I understand. But just know that you will have to pay a lot for average food. Edit: went for a group supper the second time. Increased my rating for food & service. The second time our waiter was very attentive & the food was delicious. Although it was a limited group menu. I really recommend this place for supper rather than brunch.
Excellent spot to indulge in contemporary British dishes within the charming setting of a historic building. Came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant wasn't too busy, so we were able to get seated at the cozy couches near the fireplace. The interior beautifully preserved the classic ambiance of a century-old mansion, while the menu offered a modern take on British cuisine with a Québécois twist. Although there was a set course menu available, we chose to order from the regular à la carte selection, as it looked more appealing. Naturally, we began our meal with a half dozen of fresh Canadian oysters. Although similar to the briny oysters I'm used to in New England, these had a slightly creamier texture. The Hamachi Crudo followed, & these fatty hamachi slices were perfectly complemented by sweet & tangy toppings. However, our favorite from the starters was the Burrata & Sunchoke. The roasted sunchokes provided a delightful crispiness, complemented by the mild sweetness of butternut purée & the earthy tones of the greens, & each bite was rich & satisfying. For our entrées, we chose the Linguine Vongole, Beef Brochette, & the Mushroom Confit. The Vongole didn't have a prominent seafood aroma, but the parsley & chili-infused crusts added depth to the pasta. The Beef Brochette was somewhat plain in comparison, but the malt mayo & chips combo was quite addicting. The standout was undoubtedly the Mushroom Confit. This "cake" layered with three types of mushrooms delivered a masterful blend of umami, tanginess, & earthy flavors. The pickled Shimeji mushrooms, in particular, brought an exciting burst of flavor that enhanced the overall dish. Although the dishes we selected lacked "British" elements, we were pleased with our overall dining experience. I highly recommend visiting for lunch or brunch-you won't be disappointed.
Cadre sympathique. Service pas à la hauteur, en tout cas, en deçà de ce qu'on attendrait d'un lieu comme celui-ci. Nous y avons été pour des desserts un baba au rhum & un poire façon tatin. Honnêtement, je ne recommande pas.
This place was recommended by the waiter at our restaurant & it did not disappoint. We did not want to wait for 30 min on Friday night so we can back Saturday afternoon & it beat expectations!!!
When I asked a local where my Mom & I (tourists) should get a glass of wine-somewhere historic & unique-he smiled & recommended Bar George. No wonder!
When we booked to have lunch here, we honestly weren't expecting to be transported back to the 1950's. The environment was cozy & romantic perfect for a date or lunch with family. The food was exceptional, we got the 2 course meal & let me tell you, one of the most tender meats we've ever had. When they said that the meat was braised & cooked for at least 3 hours, they weren't kidding, it's so tender you dont even need a knife to cut through it! The hornish hen was delicious & moist & the butternut squash soup, Wow! Service was great, the waiter came by frequently & always made sure our water glasses are full. The staff is very knowledgeable & kind. I had to take my daughter to get her changed & my food came while I was gone, they got a stainless steel cover to make sure my food wasn't cold by the tie I got back! Highly highly recommend! The experience, service & food 10/10!
Cannot say enough good things about Bar George. The atmosphere is funky but classy, the service is prompt & warm, & the food is scrumptious. My husband & I came here for an early Valentine's Day dinner when we stayed at Le Mount Stephen hotel. The wallpaper is fun & there are dozens of artwork strewn about the wall that makes the environment interesting. We had lovely servers. I had asked what wine might go well with my meal, & the server listed a few & then when I gave my preferences, he let me try two to see which I liked best. Keep in mind, this was just for a glass of wine not even a bottle! It made me feel cared for. We got the mushroom soup, the beet salad, the beef Wellington, & the truffle gnocchi. There was not a bad bite. The flavors went deep & were well balanced. I could've melted into the gnocchi, it was that good. Highly recommend!
Super pretty restaurant with great food & service! Would recommend the French toast 10000000x
Amazing! Can't recommend this place highly enough. We loved the very unique atmosphere of the restaurant. The bar was very cool with a great cocktail list. The dining room offered plenty of space with good music & high ceilings so it didn't feel stuffy at all. & most importantly...all the food was excellent! Highly recommended.
