The customer service was great, & the food was very very tasty! Amazing chicken spring rolls. Restaurant has a great vibe too. Great place to come with friends.
The owner is an amazing person who is very attentive to his customers needs. It's an amazing fusion that brings halal diversity to Montreal halal food scene.
At the time of visit the chicken is hand slaughtered.

My boyfriend & myself just came out of the restaurant & I knew I had to immediately right a review (I usually don't)
But I must say Baan Lao is the place to go. We both had the pho, & wow! The chicken, the noodles, the broth was amazing & would've had a second bowl if I wasn't so full. The staff is also very kind & welcoming!
Definitely will be coming back again, thank you for the delicious food.
Baan Lao is a hidden gem for Asian fusion in Montréal. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, & clearly made with care. Everything we tried was well-seasoned & balanced, with generous portions that actually leave you full.
The menu has a great variety (noodles, rice dishes, grilled items, & appetizers), so there's something for everyone, whether you like comforting classics or bolder flavors. The chicken & shrimp dishes were especially delicious, & the sauces really stand out.
Another big plus is that the food is halal, which makes it an easy & reliable choice. Service was friendly & efficient, & the place has a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Prices are very reasonable for the quality & portion size. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, Baan Lao is definitely worth it. Highly recommend!
Found this restaurant recently & jist tried it today. We had the chicken Bahn mi & beef Bahn me with chilies. Very tasty & the chillies are actually spicy!! Affordable & great customer service
I went there today with my friend, we had the beef pho, chicken pho & the entry for two that contained skewers of beef/chicken/shrimp & lamb, imperial rolls, chicken wings & fried potatoes. IT WAS INCREDIBLE!! The broth of the pho is so flavourful it hits perfectly, the seasonings of the skewers & its meat are so flavourful & tender it melted on our tongues. The food was a big 10/10, I've NEVER tasted such a delicious meal, I was in a flow state with my friend. The service was extremely fast, we didn't even wait long, the lady was incredibly charming & sweet, she made sure we were comfortable & didn't need anything. It was a fair amount that we paid too which is rare to see in Montreal, for such tender meat & flavourful food it definitely deserved its price! So so so perfect, we will DEFINITELY come back!! ❤?❤?❤?❤?
This spot is in a residential neighborhood & feels like a true hidden gem. It's small, family-owned, & super welcoming. We got the combo for two & a chicken bánh mì, & everything looked amazing - & tasted even better.
The bánh mì was honestly the best I've ever had, & the whole meal was an easy 10/10. Hands down, this place beats a lot of Lao restaurants I've tried. Definitely feels like one of the best restaurants in town. Also, the food was halal.

To start, the place is extremely clean & neat, tailoring to & exuding professionalism. The kind lady at the reception was exceptionally welcoming, & very tending & interacting.
We ordered some of the chicken & beef skewers, along with some wings & potato wedges, as well as some pho & shrimps. Upon the arrival of the food, we were surprised at the large portions, specially the size of the pho. The food came in warm & fresh, & the meats were extremely tender. My personal favorite was the saucy wings ;)
Noteworthy to mention, but they also had a spot for praying :)
Overall, I would highly recommend anyone looking for an authentic cuisine to give them a drop by. Thanks!
1st time I went I tried the beef & chicken Banh Mi & I was very satisfied. This time I went for a Pho Soup & I was satisfied of the the taste for a'Halal Vietnamese' fusion!
The food was amazing. The beef skewers were fantastic, & the pho, both chicken & beef, were superb & truly tasted authentic, even down to having bean sprouts & basil for garnish. I love that they serve Salaam Cola! One of the co-owners was working front of house & was very kind, & the service was 110%
I wish this business could branch out to all provinces. When in Montreal, this place is a must, regardless of if you eat halal or not.
Not sure why this place has such a high rating. Really really dirty tables, expired drinks, really overpriced banh mi, microwaved vermicelli & chicken. Save yourself the disappointment, go eat anything literally anywhere else.
Both the chicken & the steak skewers were refinely seasoned in a very delicate yet intense flavor. The soup was simply delightful. The owner was warm & welcoming. Most definitely recommend.
