We had no idea what we would find that Sunday afternoon; we simply followed some positive reviews & set off on an adventure.
The place is small but spacious enough to accommodate our group of six, alongside other customers. It was pleasantly clean & tidy. The service was warm & friendly-& our waiter was bilingual.

I ordered chicken fried rice, & my wife had the Beef Bhuna. My friends chose dishes with names we couldn't even pronounce.

But the real stars were the unexpected flavors of the dishes served: piping hot & bursting with tastes that sizzled on the palate-pure Asian energy that makes you feel like a tiger. ;)

We all left feeling wonderfully happy after that comforting dinner on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

The pho was really good & everything in generall the service too they don't play music wich is a plus. That being said everything is halal & they dont sell alcohol. Most muslim friendly resto ive been to in montreal. The food is really really good the balans of the broth was excellent & the beef didnt have those fat parts wich i really appriciated & they are very generous…, chakeil was an amazing server too ngl🤍👍🏻 recommend

Great food, we loved the Pho, the beef brochette & the shrimp rice. it was delicious. the service is also perfect. we will definitely come back.

We tried Baan Lao's beef curry & lamb curry platter, which came with a variety of traditional Bangladeshi side dishes.

I was really craving a good, comforting Bangladeshi meal, & this completely satisfied the craving! The curries were flavorful & hearty, & all the sides paired together beautifully. It genuinely felt like the kind of meal you'd sit down to eat at home with your family.

If you're looking for a comforting Bangladeshi meal that feels homemade & authentic, Baan Lao is definitely worth checking out.

Update July 2026
The beef Bahn mi quality has dropped, not just the quality of meat but the amount. Still pretty good but not nearly as delicious as when they first opened. Sometimes I still get a good sandwich but more often now it's not as good. A bit tough. Maybe something about who's cooking that day? Not sure.
Additionally they changed the combo to have spring rolls instead of a drink & made it more expensive. I don't really want spring rolls but they don't seem to sell the sandwich by itself. I preferred the drink if anything.
The staff continues to be friendly. It's still 4 stars just not wowing me with 5 stars like before

Original review-Good Bahn mi! I stopped by here on a walk & decided to try it out. Sandwich was fresh & tasty & really filling. They were very friendly & nice. The place is new & clean, brightly lit cafeteria vibes, seems like a good place for lunch. I'll be back glad to see something new in the neighborhood

Food was exceptional in quality, very reasonably priced, the atmosphere was warm & inviting. If you are looking for a delicious & nourishing place to dine then you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend the beef pho.

I'm so happy to find a halal pho restaurant in Montreal. I ordered the Beef Pho, Chicken Spring Rolls, & Chicken Fried Rice.

The chicken fried rice was absolutely delicious, & the seasoning was perfect. It tasted just like authentic Indonesian fried rice. The chicken spring rolls were crispy & flavorful, & the Beef Pho was also excellent, with a generous amount of tender beef.

The restaurant staff were very friendly & welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Had the pho with beef & the chicken banh mi, & both were really good. The ingredients tasted fresh, the portions were satisfying, & everything was full of flavor. The service was excellent as well, friendly, attentive, & welcoming. Overall, a great experience & I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
