Review Summary

Aylwin Barbecue is widely celebrated as a premier destination at the Atwater Market, earning high praise for its exceptional smoked meats, particularly the brisket, ribs, and the popular Aylwinator burger. Most visitors highlight the high quality and consistent flavor of the food, noting that items like the Reuben sandwich, mac and cheese, and house-made sides contribute to a satisfying culinary experience. While the vast majority of patrons enjoy the efficient and friendly service, some feedback mentions occasional inconsistencies in staff demeanor and mixed experiences with portion sizes or pricing. Overall, the establishment is frequently recommended for its authentic barbecue craftsmanship and remains a top-rated choice for those seeking hearty, flavorful comfort food in Montreal.

Went on a Sunday at around noon & got their breakfast sandwich (with sausage) & an iced latte. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their iced latte - the espresso was good, the ratio was just right!

The breakfast sandwich comes with egg, tomato, lettuce, an adobo sauce, & cheese + an add on for their sausage patty. The sandwich itself was great, but the sausage patty didn't add much more to it, in my opinion. I'd get it again without the patty & spend my money on trying their hash browns instead.

Amazing service! The man at the counter (maybe an owner?) was super warm & friendly & explained to me exactly what was in the sandwich.

Would recommend & will be coming back to try the other stuff on their menu!

Aylwin is an awesome BBQ spot in Atwater market & I would certainly recommend it.

I ordered the daily platter which comes at the cost of 24$ & comes with jerk style pork belly, brisket burnt ends, sausage, bread, cucumber salad & some sliced pickles, jalapenos & marinated onions. Everything was delicious. The brisket was very tender. The pork belly was very rich & fatty. The sausage was another highlight with just the right amount of spice. My only complaint is that for 24$ I would expect a bit more meat from the platter. The bread was also a little bit unimpressive. But overall it was a very tasty platter.

I also had the Mac & Cheese which was very good. They use pearl shaped pasta. The cheese sauce is very creamy & they top the whole thing with a bunch of bread crumbs & green onions. I would definitely recommend getting this as a side dish if you come to Aylwin.

Great experience overall & definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Atwater market. Next time I come back, I would love to try the burger, pulled pork & tacos.

This place is absolutely amazing! It's the first thing you smell as you enter the Atwater Market.

Let's talk about that brisket. First off, the spice rub is exquisite. The seasoning doesn't overpower the meat flavor - it enhances it. The smoke is tasty, & again, not overpowering. They give you two sauces - one sweet & one spicy.

We also got the Famous Aylwinator Burger. This is perfection on a bun. Again, seasoned & smoked perfectly, awesome condiments, & made with care.

Last but not least, the people who work there are just plain cool. Super friendly, witty, & efficient. I will absolutely be back the next time I come to Montréal.

I tried a beef brisket sandwich. The sauce was kind of sweet. There was a bit of cucumber mixed with mayonnaise in one part. It was okay, but a little too sweet for me.
It cost around $16 after tax.

We don't know where to start telling you how amazing every part of this was.

We were immediately drawn to the large sign for the'famous' Aylwinator cheeseburger. A thick, perfectly cooked patty that radiated juiciness, enveloped in fresh lettuce, tomatoes, & drizzled with a simple yet astonishingly delicious sauce. This burger was sublime.

To accompany our burgers, we ordered a side of Mac n' cheese & we are at a loss for words. We can confidently say this is the best we have ever tasted-no exaggeration. Thick, creamy shell noodles crowned with crispy breadcrumbs & green onions.

But it didn't stop there. We followed that with a poutine worthy of our top 10 list. We loved everything about it, from the tangy gravy to the perfectly cut fries.

To wash it all down, a homemade lemonade & rye (at 11 am because we're degenerates). It was refreshing &... very potent, 😅.

We're not sure when or why key lime became associated with BBQ, but we are all for it. This super creamy, refreshing, tangy delight was a perfect farewell to the summer vibes.

Didn't like it. It's decent food but I've had so much better BBQ I can't eat this anymore. The ribs taste & feel like ham & thr sauce is way too sour.

Bonne place de BBQ, je recommande ribs & brisket, préférablement pas en sandwich afin de mieux apprécier la viande qui est excellente même sans sauce.

After walking through the meat market, the mere presence of this establishment induced salivation. Fortunately, the meal went above & beyond the high expectations I had.

For only 30CAD, between 2 people we rolled out of the market, bellies full of the most succulent pork ribs, juicy melt-in-your-mouth smoked sausage, & a light green goddess salad to cut the heavy meat. I'll add, the ribs had a gorgeous dry rub with the tastiest hot sauce & bbq on the side--perfect for not getting your face soaked in sauce & leaving plenty of delicious rib flavor to enjoy.

Can't recommend enough!

Delicious bbq, was looking for one for ages in Montreal & this place truly did not disappoint. Huge portions & reasonable prices for high quality & refined food. Highly recommend. Especially loved the smokey juicy sausage, the brisket, the tacos & the buns. Great sauces too.
