Aylwin Barbecue is widely celebrated as a top-tier destination at Atwater Market, earning high praise for its authentic, house-made approach to barbecue. Visitors frequently highlight the brisket, ribs, and burgers as standout items, noting the tender, smoky quality of the meat and the consistent craftsmanship behind every dish. Many patrons appreciate the efficient service and the welcoming atmosphere, with the smoked meat and poutine often cited as local favorites. While some diners mention that pricing can be on the higher side and occasional inconsistencies occur, the overall consensus is that the high quality, flavorful ingredients, and dedication to excellence make it a must-visit spot for any barbecue lover in Montreal.
It's good, but it's pricey. I guess everything is pricey in this day & age.. my wife had the ribs, I had brisket, we each had a salad & a beer, & it was 80 bucks with tip. That said, salads were good, both the cucumber & the coleslaw. The ribs were excellent, the brisket was well done. The beer is the star here though. I really appreciate in- house beer. It's a real indication of the quality of food to be had. This one applies; a great offering..
Absolutely outstanding. This is hands down one of the best BBQ spots I've been to.
I had the burnt end brisket platter, the aylwinator cheeseburger, & the pulled pork sandwich, & every single item was phenomenal. The brisket was incredibly juicy, tender, & packed with smoky flavour. The burger was cooked perfectly, the bun was fresh & unbelievably soft, & every bite was excellent. The pulled pork was just as impressive-moist, flavourful, & perfectly balanced.
You can tell they take pride in everything they serve. The quality of the meat, the execution, & the attention to detail were top-notch from start to finish.
If you're looking for authentic barbecue, this place is an absolute must-visit. I'll definitely be back.
Went on a Sunday at around noon & got their breakfast sandwich (with sausage) & an iced latte. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their iced latte - the espresso was good, the ratio was just right!
The breakfast sandwich comes with egg, tomato, lettuce, an adobo sauce, & cheese + an add on for their sausage patty. The sandwich itself was great, but the sausage patty didn't add much more to it, in my opinion. I'd get it again without the patty & spend my money on trying their hash browns instead.
Amazing service! The man at the counter (maybe an owner?) was super warm & friendly & explained to me exactly what was in the sandwich.
Would recommend & will be coming back to try the other stuff on their menu!
I was so happy to see Alwyn's at Atwater Market. Having heard so much about it over the years, I knew I had to stop by.
I ordered the Alwynator burger, which was featured on their sandwich board, & it absolutely did not disappoint. At around $14, I'd say it's a solid value for the quality & portion. The burger was juicy, flavorful, & satisfying-the kind of comfort food that instantly puts a smile on your face specially when I was so hungry 😋
As I'm writing this review, though, I'm watching people mostly ordered & raved about the beef brisket sandwich… & now I'm seriously regretting my decision. 🥲 I should have known earlier & ordered both. The brisket looked incredible, & now I'm somehow hungry all over again.
Looks like I'll just have to come back-& honestly, that's not a bad problem to have. If you're at Atwater Market, Alwyn's is definitely worth checking out. Just learn from my mistake: order the brisket too. Sob sob.
Spectacular. Came on a Sunday morning & had the plate for brunch. It was definitely worth the wait. The quality for the price is insane & In hope it stays that way.
Yummy, yummy, yummy. Super fast service delicious quality food a must try. They're Reuben sandwhich is mouth watering, & they have some awesome thicccc hash browns.
I've been a regular at Aylwin BBQ for years & let me tell you, the quality has always been tip-top, every single visit. Consistency like this is rare, & they never disappoint.
Just this morning, at 10:30 AM, I grabbed their cheeseburger for breakfast, & wow! It absolutely hit the spot! Juicy, perfectly seasoned, & smoky in all the right ways. That's the kind of food that makes you smile & sets the tone for your whole day.
What sets Aylwin apart is not just the flavors, but the craftsmanship. They use a Yoder smoker, one of the best smokers out there, & you can really taste the difference in every bite.
Please never change - Montreal needs you just the way you are! Without question, this is one of the best (if not the best) BBQ joints in the city. Highly recommend to anyone: once you try it, you'll never be able to walk past Atwater Market without stopping in.
Delicious bbq, was looking for one for ages in Montreal & this place truly did not disappoint. Huge portions & reasonable prices for high quality & refined food. Highly recommend. Especially loved the smokey juicy sausage, the brisket, the tacos & the buns. Great sauces too.
Nailed the brisket. Ribs were very good. Cucumber buttermilk salad was refreshing & I've never seen that before. Very difficult to serve this volume of BBQ at near-competition level quality but they're doing it well. Wash it down with a frozen margarita & you're having a great day at the Atwate
