Amazing meal at the bar. Great ciders, mixed drinks & wines.

We had a reservation at 8, we waited 35 minutes by the entrance before we were seated. Apparently they were having trouble moving things along with the couple who were at our table. It was so bad the hostess gave us a free glass of cider while we stood & waited, & other customers that were seated kept looking at us wondering what was going on. The server was great & was attentive & had good energy. She also provided great food & wine recommendations. I think the food was a solid 7.5/10. All in all I would go back again for a special occasion in a few years but not somewhere I would frequent often. I have 4 stars but it wasn't quite there. I would give it 3.75 if that was an option.

Everything was delicious! Duck tartare hand roll was amazing , Foie gras & apple tart was great ( & large ) fries were perfect & crisp & mayo was delish , trout was cooked perfect & delish , drinks were perfect & unique , wine list was holy shit big & impressive , wine was great to & duck in a can was delish but fat was not cooked enough nor was foie gras & knife needed to be sharper to cut meat but it was absolutely delicious & I hope to be back !!! I feel I Should of had the pigs feet ;)

Wonderful food, wine, atmosphere & service. We sat at the bar & loved watching the action in the open kitchen. All the serving staff were knowledgeable & friendly. Our server made an excellent wine recommendation that paired well with our meals.

Absolutely unique & wonderful experience to sit at the bar in front of a Chef de Partie & his team, with excellent servers finding their way to bring us wine & food from the crowded space. The place buzzed with energy on a Wednesday night, serving incredible ris de veau/morel/crispy potato appetizer, the renowned Canard en Conserve, & Macaroni & Cheese with foie gras. A solid Brouilly at a reasonable price was followed by Creme Brulee accompanied by a glass of Sauterne. It was a dizzying & delightful evening that felt very Quebecois to 2 American tourists!

!st class service & as per my previous visits to PDC, the food (mains) was mouthwatering / c'est a dire que the meal was such that you almost do not need to chew / bite - the succulent dish just melts in your mouth. The wine (red) was suggested by Tania & even without the food pairing, each sip was a taste of exquisite delight.
One bit of slight disappointment was that no bread was offered prior to the main course. Prior to last night, my last visit to PDC was in 2019 & I recall that bread was offered & it was muligrain - rye & more than likely the best tasting bread I ever ate +/or tasted in a restaurant however, the times & circumstances have changed since the COVID pandemic so to be fair, the lack of bread offering is not a deal breaker for incentive to return to PDC for a memorable meal & very pleasant soiree.
A la prochaine.... IC

Everything was excellent. The cider, the wine, the meal...formidable!!! Our server (Camille) was excellent. Wished we lived in Montreal so we could eat here more often. Incroyable!

Everything was fantastic. Balanced flavors & incredible flavor combinations made for an exceptional evening out. Very much enjoyed watching the team cook at the dining bar, & everything from our wine to our cocktails were delicious. The Duck tartare & Cod Cheek salad were the perfect start to our more decadent entrees of Canard in a Can & 30 day dry aged Pork Chop. & we couldn't come to PDC without having their Fois Poutine & Pudding Chomer. Thank you!! Tim & Sydney

There is no better restaurant anywhere. Maybe as good, but none better. We sat at the chef's counter & it's clear this establishment cares about every detail of the food & drink. We ordered soup a l'oignon, canard conserve & côte de Cochon. Every bite was a masterpiece. It was especially appreciative of our server's ability to suggest wine by the glass pairings.

Delicious dinner & festive environment. Fois gras...that's enough said - best we've ever had. Great wine, perfect entrees & a delicate crème brûlée to cap the evening. The attentive staff made us feel like regulars. Fantastic experience!

Loved everything; the foie gras nigiri were little wonders, & the duck in a can was insane, beautiful, & beyond delicious. Great wine selection as well, & perfect service. I come here every time I'm in Montreal, & will keep coming back.

We are definitely glad we took the opportunity to dine at Au Pied de Cochon. The service was fantastic, but the food is the star. Between the three of us we shared the duck in a can & the foie gras & bacon mac & cheese, a few glasses of wine, & maple pudding chomeur for dessert.
It should not be taken as criticism, but the chef definitely prioritizes preparation, quality ingredients & flavour over presentation. Well done!

* If the host suggests that you start your meal at the bar & then be moved to your table when it is ready, don't agree to start at the bar unless you are also wiling to finish your meal at the bar. The moment you are seated, no matter where in the restaurant, you are no longer the host's, or anyone's for that matter, responsibility to follow up.
* If you keep asking about your table after being seated at the bar, the manager will avoid you & send someone else to pretend like nothing ever happens & that they did not promise you a table
* If you seat at the bar, be very proactive about flagging ANY server who runs pass you. Otherwise, no one would come by to check on you or ask for your orders or give you your food.
* Overall, highly recommend that you only go to this restaurant if you can get a reservation at 8PM or earlier. Because then you will be able to leave the restaurant by 11:30PM with some food. If you can only get a reservation for after 8PM, don't expect to be properly seated for about an hour after your reservation time, & don't expect to finish your meal until midnight or 1AM.
* But if you can get a reservation before 8PM, it seems that you could take as much time as you want, including taking 2 hours for 2 people to drink a bottle of wine, including multiple smoking break because the restaurant doesn't impose a slightly time limit on its customers, especially if they dress the part.

We had an incredible experience here. The staff were so friendly & personal. They accommodated our big group with some dietary restrictions (celiac, vegetarian) with nothing but kindness & consideration. The wine, drinks, & food were absolutely delightful.

We had the tomato tart, foie gras poutine, the porc chop, the salt cod (an INSANE multilayered dish, with the server squeezing out roasted garlic directly onto the plate!). Our lovely, personable server recommended wines that paired perfectly (& were not the most expensive on the list). A very special meal. By the end we were exhausted, but in the best way.

Way too slow on putting on dishes. Ordered Foie Gras Nigiri, Duck in the Can & other Foie Gras dish, with two cups of wine. It took more than 1.5 to delivery the dishes.

Friends had raved about their dining experience. I thought the food was just adequate. We had the duck in a can because we felt, well- we were there for that. I thought it was just ok. The salad was the standout & the wine choice. Our waiter was great though! I would easily pass up this experience for another in Montreal.

Great restaurant! Highly recommend the razor clam appetizer, great service & wonderful wine recommendation from the sommelier.

We had to wait for an hour even though we had a reservation made & they ran out of quite a few dishes by the time we sat down. We were a bit disappointed at first but the waitress was very apologetic & recommended a very good wine which was not on the menu. She also recommended the duck in a can but we later changed to the pig head & the lobster (only available sometimes). Our party of 4 loved all the dishes that we had ordered. We could not finished the pig head as it was very large & it was quite late by the time it arrived. I would definitely come again next time I visit Montreal.
