The hostess & staff were very friendly. They made our visit so very enjoyable as we got into the foie gras themed plates that I call "La bouffe du diable" aka the devil's food. This a term that the chef appreciated as we devoured his amazing & wonderful creations. We started with the oblivious draw: foie gras poutine, the first sinful act. Then, the plogue a champlain, which combined decadent foie gras with a grilled ham (wasn't sure if it was but doesn't matter as its mixture brought on the a mouthgasm). The main courses were a lovely blood sausage & foie gras pie & aged pork chop with cabbage & an incredible mushroom sauce. I needed a glass of red wine to complement all that heart attack-inducing goodness & was blessed with a generous grail of a velvety Pinot noir. Praise the Dark Lord! When I thanked the chef & mentioned that I had hoped my dining companion would order the pork chop so I could order the foie gras mapo tofu, he said he would bless us with a sample. "Holy F*ck!!" was what came to mind when I had that first bite. My dining companion uttered "OMFG!!" I am & remain in awe of this amazing if not best dinner I've ever had. I thank the chef & his staff for creating an astonishing ambiance for us to submit to La Bouffe du Diable! Praise be to his mastery of Foie Gras!!!

Our experience was outstanding, the food, the wine, the service. All our meals were prepared perfectly. Our service was well paced & not rushed, even with a full house. The wine suggestions were excellent. Very happy we had a chance to dine here after years of wanting.

We are from Boston & went to Montreal for the weekend for my 30th birthday. We had done research & wanted a higher end birthday dinner experience. My fiancé really sold us on the duck in a can plate !! We were a group of 6 made the reservation online for 10:00pm & they close at 11:00pm we got there in perfect time & were worried about going before they closed but it was busy great experience didn't feel rushed at all. We sat in the back next to the wine cellar that was gorgeous.2 of our friends were vegan & only came with us for drinks since the menu is not very vegan friendly but they were prepared to not eatand the chef went above & beyond & custom made them a dish. Our waiter was very attentive & did an amazing job describing the menu & recommendations. He over head us talk that it was my bday & he surprised us with sparklers & birthday song. Since we were one of the last groups they let us play some songs which we did not expect to experience, the vibes were so great all the employees loved our music & we all were just talking & laughing late at night & it was just NEXT LEVELL, the Highlight of our trip was this dinner. I would extremely recommend this restaurant for something new & fresh.

Excellent food, expect to be very full with heavy but delicious fare. The cocktails are good but not as good as the food. Recommend saving some space for food instead, but a huge wine list for wine lovers. Highly recommend if you can find a reservation.

TLDR - Stop thinking. Just book it. Top Montreal dining & hospitality. Looking forward to the next 6 hr drive from NYC. Dinner for 2 at the bar - kitchen facing. Top choices: Foie Gras Nigiri & Duck In a can. Long - Sunday evening dinner in Feb - was able to snag reservations a week in advance! Memorable dining experience that was no rush, full flavor, & full service. Friendly staff where you can really feel the hospitality (& where staff enjoy working!). The bar with kitchen view may be the best seats in the house. Appetizers: Uni Pasta was rich & creamy. Was hoping for something more uni/ocean forward. Still delicious! Foie Gras Nigiri is a must try. Somehow light & decadent at the same time. Mains: Duck in a can - first time visit so had to try it. No regrets! Medium rare duck sous vide in a can with duck fat, Foie Gras, & cabbage. The toast soaks up all the flavor. Paired excellent with the wine our waiter recommended. Champvallon- stewed pork, onions & potatoes in a pot. This was pretty heavy - would recommend sharing. May have preferred the aged pork chop, but will have to try it next time. Dessert - flan topped with coffee crème. Excellent & nice cool sweet treat to finish off our meal. S/O to our servers Julian & Emil!

As always, Au Pied de Cochon did not disappoint. The food was exceptional, the service was impeccable, the wine list deep & inviting. The oysters with the marinated egg yolk were exquisite, the bone marrow to die for, the duck on a can delightful, the bouvin delicious. If you want to have a great dining experience Montreal style, this is the place to go to. You will not be disappointed!

an exceptional dining experience on all levels. I made the reservation a couple of months ago - i had colleagues travel in from out of country. I requested our preferred spot (in front of the wall of wine) & we got the spot we requested. The PDC team went above & beyond to make sure the group had a wonderful experience - & this has become an annual experience for our group. I just wanted to say thank you to the entire team for showing us an amazing dining experience. we will be returning next year. thank you again.
Paul.

We had a wonderful time! Everything was amazing & the kitchen delighted us with a gift as our mains were perhaps a little behind schedule. Delightful & unexpected! Your lovely waiter Fred was also extremely kind & called us a taxi as my friend perhaps enjoyed her wine a little too much! A special thank you to Fred for helping us out 🙏🏻

Food is always perfect. They haven't lost their attention to detail since their first opened. The classics (like foie gras poutine) are still on the menu & examples of pure perfection. Service is first class. Prices are fair given the ingredients (ie. foie gras in almost everything). Quebec beers on tap, plenty of wine-by-the-glass options, as well as a very extensive wine list (by the bottle). Meals are expectedly rich, so order accordingly. It's worth saving room for dessert (pouding chomeur is highly recommended). The vibe in the restaurant is buzzing but still easy to have a conversation. Consider eating at the bar to be in the centre of the excitement & view on the kitchen.

In general, surprisingly overrated. I've heard about this restaurant for years now & finally decided to come here, & really wanted to like it. The service is very good, & the staff are very friendly & probably the best aspect of this restaurant . The food uses excellent top quality delicious ingredients though suffers from what seems like inexperienced execution. The Guinea Fowl was over-salted & sauces over-reduced. It could have done with a little more time exposed to heat to render the skin fat. Pate ingredients need to be sliced much finer & warming to room temperature instead of serving cold would probably improve its consistency. The bread pudding was nauseatingly sweet. No one needs that much sugar or maple syrup. I suspect that this place caters more to the American rather than the French pallet, & that's a shame given the quality of ingredients available. Oh well. Great wine though.

Our waiter was super helpful with recommendations (wine selection, sharing all main courses, only 3 desserts needed for 4 people). We appreciated his wisdom.

Very disappointing - all 3 starters were served together. The famous duck in a can was terrible. The duck was very tough & undercooked on half of the breast. The accoutrements were overcooked like mush & under-seasoned.. To be honest - it looked dog food. Wine & drinks were okay. Service was very good. Overall, I will not return nor recommend to others. Very sad as this was a bucket list restaurant destination. We traveled all the way from Australia.

Obviously top tier professionals in the restaurant experience. Lovely spot for date night.

Open kitchen concept, but very hot inside as a result. The entry way is cramped, that's the only pain point.

Lively atmosphere & delicious food. We had the foie gras poutine as the highlight.

We ordered the special pork dish as well:

We felt a bit misled with this one. The pork dish alone could have fed 4 people.... there were 2 of us...

I wish the server had explained more clearly how much food we were ordering... the server recommended it to us, so I assumed that we ordered appropriately. We were shocked with how much pork came on the dish...

We felt guilty leaving food on the plate, & overate as a result.

Would return. Food was incredible, but a small hole was burnt into the wallet here. Not a once a week joint.

Minimum 15 on a glass of wine.

I think this is a special occasion place for most. Would recommend.

What a great meal. As a chef from the USA it was great to experience true hospitality. The visit from the chef showed what a passion he has for his business & the recognition that I would need a better knife for the duck in the can was great. Starters were incredibly flavorful the poultry dish however stole the show along with the nigiri Foie. We enjoyed 5 different wines & we will hopefully return to Montreal to enjoy again.

We enjoyed the food but both my husband & I got diarrhea! It could have been the fois gras .
Our servers were great & the wine suggestion was perfect.

Aside from the fois gras dishes, everything was pretty two dimensional flavor-wise, over salted, & extremely over priced. I think this place rests heavily on its reputation, & ultimately is about as good as your average bistro in NYC or SF. The friendly waiter upsold me 25$ glasses of wine & our service deteriorated once I stopped drinking. Won't go back.
