I just have to thank you. My second time at the place, I live in Halifax, & I was there in August & now in March. The breads are simply delicious, the croissants melt in your mouth. But what I have to be grateful for is that last Marco I went with my daughter & she took the risk of placing our order in French (her mother tongue is Portuguese, but she learned to read, write, & speak in English). It seemed to me to be one of the chefs who served us & he was super attentive, he realized that she was out of her comfort zone but he let her order & it was great. As a result, she was very proud of her & I just have to thank her & recommend the place. Congratulations.View more

This review is long overdue... I visited the bakery back in November while on holidays in Montreal. I tried everything they had & have been dreaming of it all since. Stopped in on a weekday morning about 2 hours after opening. Was able to pick up a good selection of pastries & 2 of the small kougin amann. Some things were sold out but we still had enough to choose from. Service was efficient, & they even made sure to give us the freshest pastries. A good place to grab & go - not a lot of seating, if that's what you're looking for.View more

Must visit when in Montreal! Their kouign-amann is so buttery but not overly sweet. Their apple puff pastries, their pain au chocolat, their croissants (cheese croissants, almond croissants, plain croissants) are all amazing, classic textbook viennoiserie tradition. Their hot chocolate is not overly sweet, which goes very well with a slice of warm kouign-amann on a cold winter day. The place is near Mont-Royal station. It has this lovely vibe of old historic Montreal store in the inside, from the decor to the music they play. There are only two small tables (2-3 chairs per table), but the pastries get sold so steadily that, whenever I visit, the pastries are always warm & fresh of the oven. I've never able to take a picture because I forget everything except eating when I hold their pastries.View more

Brought back from Montreal, their most famous item is the kouign-amann, a caramelized butter pastry. I purchased a 6-inch one. Heating it briefly in the microwave enhances the texture remarkably. The exterior remains crispy due to the caramelization, while the interior is soft & buttery, resembling a cross between cake & bread.
