At 316 avenue du Mont-Royal Est, we've been loving the kouing-amann for over 30 years.
A true neighborhood café, the owner and employees work together to offer gourmet pastries (made with passion!), fresh sandwiches and the famous kouing-amann.
Let yourself be tempted by a moment of greed in a warm family atmosphere that has lasted for nearly three decades.

What a delicious selection of pastries! I was in line at around 10:45 & got in to order by 11am on a saturday. I suggest going earlier in the day if you can because they had already run out of almond croissant & chocolatines. I grabbed the last regular croissant as well.
My favourite has to be warm kouing
amann slice! Although it tastes more bready than croissant-y, the top & bottom was crunchy & glazed which added to the fluffyness of the center. The raisin bread itself & regular croissants were also light & airy! However, the only pastry i wasnt fond of was the milk bread. This bread was stuffed with some chocolate but the texture just didnt suit my taste.
I would definitely be back earlier next time to try the almond croissant & chocolatine!View more
One of my favorite bakeries in all of Canada. Go get their almond croissantsView more

THE BEST I have had in Canada. The kouign Amann is sooo good! The almond croissant & milk bread with chocolate filling is amazing. We also liked the coffee. We went back twice! Definitely worth a visit if you are in Montreal.View more
The croissants are the best I've ever had! The almond, raisin, & plain ones were so delicious that we ordered another round. Highly recommended!View more
Cute little shop
Yummy fresh pastry
Kind staff
Not enough sitting table , I got lucky & scored a hot almond croissant out the oven & a tableView more
Did a quick stop here yesterday on the recommendation of a friend. I tried the Kouign Amann for the first time, & wow, I'm ready to make the 5hr drive back for more. So very good! Buttery, flakey, with that caramelized top. It was a religious experience in every bite!
Also had their almond croissant which was also very good.
I will definitely find a reason to come back.View more
Awesome place. Very affordable yet delicious fresh pastries. Some of my favorites are the croque monsieur, kouign amann, quiche, & the almond croissant. Definitely will stop by again when I'm in town.View more
Wow. What an absolutely amazing place. I have eaten every product of theirs & literally everything is amazing. Their croissants are gorgeous, as is their honey glazed tarte by the slice. All of the flavoured croissants (almond, cheese, & chocolate) are phenomenal. Their coffee is great
This seems to be a gem even for Montreal residents. Barely any that I spoke to have heard of it & yet it was my favourite bakery by far!View more
I split an almond croissant with my friend & it was the single best croissant I have ever had in my life. I don't even like almond croissants, & it was better than any other croissant I ever had. My friend offered me the last bite of his half, & I couldn't even be polite before letting it melt in my mouth. Combine that with the friendliest, most hard-working staff you've ever met & you will find yourself writing a 5 star review as quick as me.View more
tired both the the kouign amann & the almond croissant, both were amazing. just note that the seating inside is very limited.View more
The most deliciously buttery pastry bites in all of Montreal. Their kouign amann is simply the most delectable baked item I have ever tasted in my life. It is the epitome of sweet, caramelized buttery, flaky. Also had an almond croissant which was probably the best croissant I've had. Looked a bit flat & deflated but was just as sweet, buttery, flaky, & delicious as the kouign amann. Both smelt & tasted so good they was gone before I had the chance to take any photos. Truly a must visit bakery.View more
What a phenomenal pastry shop &, more specifically, pastry itself! One slice was more than enough for the two of us because it's so tremendously buttery, but it's delicious & I wish we could've brought one home with us to share! The almond croissants looked a little flat, but the plain ones looked & smelled good.View more
The almond croissant & kouign-amann were incredibly fresh & delicious! 🥐View more
Everything was delicious. My favorite was the almond croissant. Coffee was also good. Enjoyed watching the pastries being made. Feels like a neighborhood treasure. Judging by the foot traffic, has quite the following but not uncomfortably busy or crowded. Just steady.View more
Must visit when in Montreal! Their kouign-amann is so buttery but not overly sweet. Their apple puff pastries, their pain au chocolat, their croissants (cheese croissants, almond croissants, plain croissants) are all amazing, classic textbook viennoiserie tradition. Their hot chocolate is not overly sweet, which goes very well with a slice of warm kouign-amann on a cold winter day. The place is near Mont-Royal station. It has this lovely vibe of old historic Montreal store in the inside, from the decor to the music they play. There are only two small tables (2-3 chairs per table), but the pastries get sold so steadily that, whenever I visit, the pastries are always warm & fresh of the oven. I've never able to take a picture because I forget everything except eating when I hold their pastries.View more
They were sold out of the kouign amann, but the almond croissant was incredible!! Flaky yet moist!View more
Flour, butter & sugar? I’m down!
Excellent Kouign Amann & almond croissants. They’re both buttery, flaky & hard to beat in the city. The Kouign Amann can also be bought as a whole cake or half.
I see myself dropping by whenever I’m around.View more
