About

Antipode functions as a multifaceted culinary destination blending café culture with the artisanal precision of small plates. The kitchen emphasizes high-quality ingredients sourced for their flavor profile and structural integrity in both hot and cold preparations. A distinct focus on craft beverage production balances the food menu, which centers on Mediterranean-influenced shared plates and complex caffeinated brews. The environment utilizes a deliberate architectural layout to prioritize functional flow while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic throughout the space. Guests encounter a focused menu where simple, raw components undergo transformation into refined portions designed for individual or group consumption. The establishment maintains a consistent operational standard that prioritizes texture and seasoning across every item offered on the permanent menu.

Review Summary

Antipode is widely regarded as a standout destination in Montreal for its visually stunning brunch plates and highly aesthetic specialty lattes, which are frequently described as delicious and flavorful. While many guests praise the unique, creative menu and the cozy, artistic atmosphere, experiences regarding service and value can be inconsistent. The restaurant is consistently busy, often resulting in long queues and occasional wait times for both tables and food. Although some patrons consider the pricing to be on the higher side or feel that aesthetics sometimes take precedence over culinary execution, many others find the generous portions and high-quality ingredients justify the visit, making it a popular, must-try spot for those seeking a memorable brunch experience.

Worth the Wait & Exceeded Expectations! After three unsuccessful attempts due to the long lines, I finally got the chance to try this spot on a mid-day Friday-no line, & it was absolutely worth the wait! I had high expectations from everything I had seen online, & somehow, they still managed to surpass them. The fun coffee creations were delicious, & the food was incredibly unique, with bold & unmatched flavors that made every bite memorable. I only wish I lived closer so I could come back more often! If you're in Montreal, this place is a must-visit.

Les plats sont généreux & réconfortant en hiver. Un endroit très agréable avec de grandes baies vitrées. Il faut seulement être prêt à faire la queue, mais le lieu en vaut la peine !

This place is amazing ! I recommend going between 9am & 10am since it's rather empty & you'll be able to enjoy your meal without a huge crowd. It gets super busy enough to have people waiting outside after 10 & honestly it's not the best, feeling rushed to eat & it being super loud. The food is really good! They have amazing specialty coffees & their shakshouka is to die for !

went on a tuesday midday in january, was seated immediately, went alone bcs i'm not waiting for my friends to free themselves up for me & sure it was not busy & the volume was nice, had a little read & it didn't bother me, given i was wearing noise-cancelling headphones. very pretty café! nice waiting staff, on their shit, no note for them. i noticed on the menu was a distinct lack of descriptions for the meals - who cares for the drinks but the meals? it's... rare, let's say. am i supposed to know the menu already? right. so i went with the dutch baby pancake which i know as pannenkoeken. (i was expecting poffertjes from the name bcs i'm not familiar with the english version of dutch dishes). i couldn't finish it, too full of crumble, apple mash & apple slices & the added caramel was unnecessary - just too sweet overall - & i wished i know there was caramel bcs i really hate caramel. & it's like... here i was expecting the classic pannenkoeken, but it resembled more of an apple crisp that was never heated - which leads me to add that i think it took too much time for the dutch baby pancake to come out. i'm not sure if it was intended to be cold or hot but i'd reckon that it was supposed to be hot bcs there was a ice cream scoop on top & it definitely did not melt & the pancake was definitely cold... i mean, isn't it the gimmick targeted in adding ice cream on top? the clash between hot & cold? i also noticed was that the chai latte i had was not a f**king chai latte, thank you. literally 80% of it is foam, no milk in the actual chai, tasted like hot water with a mini spike of cinnamon bcs there was some of the ring of the cup. there was also lavender added in - another thing a description on the menu should have mentioned. didn't even drink 20% of that, left it alone, for god's sake. in the end, very lackluster, down right disappointing. for the price & alledged popularity, i'd look elsewhere or make it myself at home (def doable) bcs who the f**k cares if it's pretty & instagrammable if the food isn't doing it? right. maybe the other things on the menu are good but... i sure won't be finding out.
