Antipode functions as a multifaceted culinary destination blending café culture with the artisanal precision of small plates. The kitchen emphasizes high-quality ingredients sourced for their flavor profile and structural integrity in both hot and cold preparations. A distinct focus on craft beverage production balances the food menu, which centers on Mediterranean-influenced shared plates and complex caffeinated brews. The environment utilizes a deliberate architectural layout to prioritize functional flow while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic throughout the space. Guests encounter a focused menu where simple, raw components undergo transformation into refined portions designed for individual or group consumption. The establishment maintains a consistent operational standard that prioritizes texture and seasoning across every item offered on the permanent menu.
Antipode is widely regarded as a standout destination in Montreal for its visually stunning brunch plates and highly aesthetic specialty lattes, which are frequently described as delicious and flavorful. While many guests praise the unique, creative menu and the cozy, artistic atmosphere, experiences regarding service and value can be inconsistent. The restaurant is consistently busy, often resulting in long queues and occasional wait times for both tables and food. Although some patrons consider the pricing to be on the higher side or feel that aesthetics sometimes take precedence over culinary execution, many others find the generous portions and high-quality ingredients justify the visit, making it a popular, must-try spot for those seeking a memorable brunch experience.
Everything is aesthetic, from the decor to the menu to the dishes.
The salmon egg Benedict was a bit too salty but otherwise delicious.
Cortado was good, pretty standard. Looking forward to trying other drinks next time.
Can't leave Montreal without having brunch! I haven't had good brunch outside of Montreal actually lol, & idk why. I chose a new place to dine in this time instead of the places I usually go to (L'Avenue, Le Passé Composé, etc.). The interior was artistic & had Renaissance art, such as the Statue of David). I ordered:
Croque Madame $20
Egg, ham & bacon, on croissant
Pistachio Latte $8.50
I think the service in this place is super slow. Food was good, drinks were interesting. I wouldn't mind coming back again for other items, as everything looked so aesthetic.

A stellar brunch spot for the most gorgeous plates & drinks! This location doesn't take reservations & gets super busy, so be prepared for a bit of a wait at peak hours. Luckily for us, it was only about a ten minute wait on a Saturday around 11:30. The staff are alert & frequently, so don't be afraid to ask about the menu. The interior is chic with lots of interesting decorations to observe.
Of course, you have to try their stunning beverages. We got the London Fog & the Latte Rosé. The drinks were really smooth & soothing for a cold morning.
The menu has good variety, & we chose the croque tartiflette, the brisket & champignons eggs Benedict, & the pain perdu yuzu. The entrees are pretty expensive, but the portions are extremely large, which slightly makes up for the price. The croque tartiflette had two huge slices of crusty sourdough bread filled with caramelized onion chutney, bechamel sauce, & cheddar cheese. It was also topped with more melty cheese & bacon, a the whole croque was placed over a huge fried cheese skirt. The eggs Benedict had crunchy English muffins topped with a healthy amount of delicious brisket, poached eggs, & really fresh mushrooms that had a potent aroma. Finally, the pain perdu yuzu looked phenomenal. There were two huge slabs of fried, crunchy bread served alongside a poached pear, yuzu gel, & vanilla ice cream with crumble.
Antipode will deliver a hearty, delicious brunch that will put you right to sleep!
The atmosphere is quite cozy with the greenery & the wooden interior design. It really soothes you seeing all that which makes the dining experience much better. The service was friendly but throughout the meal, I don't remember seeing any of the waiters or waitresses smile. They were quite polite though. The food itself was so pretty. It felt a bit wrong biting into the food or drinking the lattes but it tasted quite nice! I really enjoyed the flavour profiles, they really complemented each other. The portions were quite big as well. The price looks intimidating, around 25$ for a plate, but the portions were almost enough for 2, especially if you are having a latte on the side.
The positive sides were drinks & service. Their themed lattes are spot on. Not too sweet & still can taste coffee itself. Service was welcoming & took care of my partner's allergy request.
However, once we received our food, our enthusiasm has sunk. I ordered croque tartiflette & honestly I don't understand how anyone can enjoy 2 pieces of bread sprinkled by some bacon & covered by some cheddar while paying over 30$ for it including tax & tips. I guess some people do. My fault to order that. Arrived cold.
My partner ordered truffle & champignons Benedict. Came stone cold. The green sause tasted straight up as a fish. There was no even a hint to taste any truffle since that fish taste overshadows anything on the plate.
In conclusion, will probably come back to get a take out for a coffee. In terms of food, it was the worst brunch I've tried so fa
Very tasty brunch! Lots of unique menu items, with all of them looking gorgeous. It's rare to see such the flavor matching pretty plates, & the same goes for their drinks.
Nice brunch, although it is on the more expensive side
100% worth it! To be honest, I came sceptical thinking that it could be another Instagram trap & I am glad I was wrong! We waited a bit in line, but the service was pretty good & drink & food came pretty fast. Talking about food, the portion size was big (I could eat just half of it) & it was deliciouuusss!!! Just try it!!
