From the team behind Ristorante Beatrice, Améa is a Mediterranean-inspired gourmand resto / pizzeria + coffee shop nestled within Montreal’s historic Maison Alcan building.
Derived from the French word "âme" meaning soul, Améa is an ode to the vision, warmth and heart behind our menu.
Améa Café is a large, stylish space with a welcoming, varied seating layout that works for studying, meeting friends, or catching up with coworkers. Reviews praise the ambience, the architectural vibe, and the extensive pastry and coffee selection, with notable mentions of croissants, pistachio desserts, and creative bites alongside Mediterranean and lunch options like shakshuka, pizzas, and bowls. The food and drinks are described as fresh and visually appealing, though several notes point to high prices for relatively small portions and some inconsistency in taste or service during busy periods. The staff and atmosphere are frequently highlighted as friendly and efficient, yet lines can be long, seating may be hard to find at peak times, and some guests report noise levels that hinder quiet work. Overall, Améa Café appears as a beautiful, buzzy hub in the city offering an impressive array of pastries, coffees, and casual meals, with strong value when visiting for a relaxed brunch or casual work but variable experience during peak hours.
I tried the prosciutto sandwich & a matcha latte with almond milk. The matcha was average, but the sandwich was pretty good. A little pricey (70 something for two) & busy/loud but overall a cute little place in a office building vibe.
Pretty place, but the food was meh. Average, not great. I had ordered the Aubergine plate. Frankly, it was disappointing. The matcha was bad. Tasted the vegetarian gnocchi, it was good. It was crowded & many tables weren't cleaned.
On the other hand, the desserts were very good & rich.
We went out for a coffee day with our girlies in our traditional attire , it was a great experience , awesome ambience & ofcourse super tasty food , well presented with really great service . Would love to go again 💛
