Améa Café is widely celebrated as a stunning, spacious, and bright destination in downtown Montreal that offers a refined atmosphere perfect for working, studying, or socializing. Guests frequently praise the high-quality coffee and an impressive variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, such as the flavorful shakshuka, Roman-style pizza, and fresh salads. The selection of pastries and desserts is a standout feature, with many visitors describing them as decadent, artistic, and delicious. While the service is often noted for being efficient and friendly, the cafe's unique, design-forward interior and cozy, lively environment make it a highly recommended spot that many feel is well worth returning to for its consistent quality and welcoming energy.
Excellent service, coffee & patisserie. Jardinaire pizza was a touch salty (bring?) but lovely chewy-crispy dough hit the spot. Great place to WFH with natural light & lovely wood amphitheatre-style seating to perch on & people-watch. Will be back!
Amazing place for studying/working, quick brunch with friends, taking a break from shopping in downtown, etc
Think: wework meets cafe. It's a huge space with plenty of seating & even booths/areas that could be good for having meetings. Seriously, a lot of the furniture/chairs looked similar to what I've seen in my office/weworks.
We came around 8:45 on a Saturday & learned that while the cafe is open early, the kitchen opens at 9am, but they still let us preorder something. We got a pastry, matcha latte, & shakshuka.
The pastry was delicious. It was a tomato & pesto pastry with goat cheese. The pastry was so flaky & soft at the same time. My mom ate the tomato lol but the goat cheese & pesto combo was chefs kiss. Lots of other sweet pastries looked decadent.
The matcha latte (unsweetened) was shockingly great quality. Dark green color, strong matcha flavor, probably the best in the area (though I've only tried a couple matchas). I would highly recommend if you want something that's not grocery store bought quality.
Shakshuka was also one of the best I've had. A lot of times it's watery but this tomato base was thick & flavorful. Little seeds of pomegranate were a nice surprise. The (sourdough?) bread that comes with it was also so good, but it only comes with two slices & since the shakshuka was pretty big portion we had to order more.
Not sure if this is also a public space, but if so it's even better as a place to rest between shopping! Has WiFi, outlets, & restrooms.
Note: I tried to come back a couple days later but on Google Maps it said closed everyday. Not sure if it's bc of vacation.
Went here for a quick lunch break with my coworkers. it's so green & warm inside w ample seating. got a flat white (which was incredibly balanced) tho i wish i had specific a small one (their standard is a medium). also got a mushroom cheese pastry which was v flavourful, just how you want your mushrooms to be. Lydia was super sweet taking our order!
Great selection of breakfast & lunch foods & lots of seating. Perfect place to meet for a coffee in downtown for a big group. Some, not all, tables do not allow laptops during lunch hour which makes sense.
hidden gem right between Mcgill & Concordia downtown campus. The cafe is within a building with an open space seating type. Your food gets brought to you while you have to pick up your drink from the bar. The pistachio round pastry was so delicious & sweet. The chai latte was good. The avocado toast I got was good, I just wished the mushrooms & eggs were warmer. Would definitely go back for the pastries.
I was surprised by how overrated this place is. The food feels like they are trying too hard to be'different' & some waiters looked like they hated their lives, no one smiling, messing up orders, doesn't feel'warm' in any way in terms of reception, seating & service. Moreover people come & order a 2$ thing off the menu & hog the tables with their laptops for the next 4 hours. Slightly disappointed & I had heard good things about this place so I was expecting better.
I really enjoy coming here. I try & get out of my house to work & love that they have a lot of spots for seating.
The Cafe is open early & serves pastries & drinks. You can order to go or stay & enjoy. If I'm not mistaken I think you can order breakfast food from the kitchen but that's it. The Lunch menu / Kitchen isn't available until lunch time. There you will have an abundance of lunch options from sandwiches, pizzas, salads, etc.
I've had their sandwiches, very large portions & very delicious. It is on the pricier side but good nonetheless. If you plan on eating inside the cafe, they give you a number & bring you your food which is nice especially when you're studying or chatting with friends.
The servers are very friendly & the space is kept very clean!
Only caveat is that I wish there were more spots with outlets - there are booths that don't have outlets & it would be better if they did. They do have other spots with outlets available so it's definitely not the end of the world.
Overall, I come here a lot & enjoy my time. Just know if you stay for a long period of time your pockets will feel it lol
