I visited the restaurant this Friday & had a really good experience. The food was very tasty & packed with delicious flavours. It did take a little while for the food to come out, which is understandable as the restaurant was completely full from the back to the front, even around the bar. The cocktails were delicious & well balanced, but definitely creepers lol.
I was invited to an R&B event in the speakeasy after dinner, which was a really nice touch. Unfortunately, I was wayyyyy too full to go, but I'll definitely have to check it out next time!
However, if I had one suggestion, it would be to add more toilet stalls for such a large crowd. I had to wait both times I went to use the bathroom. Other than that, I'll for sure be back!
Curry goat & oxtail were delish! Latter perhaps a tad bit too salty.
Cirka Passion cocktail was very nice too.
We had the oxtail, curry goat, mushroom fricassé (my favourite with its rich sauce) fried plantain & tacos, which were all very good. The Halo cocktail was original with its hickory smoke, which gave an extra sensory experience. However, it took at least 25 minutes to get the first cocktail & another 5 to get the second one - they should be served at the same time. & then another long wait for our food. Also, the men's bathroom seemed to be under construction, & there was no soap dispenser or paper towels/dryer in the women's. I believe the restaurant hasn't been opened that long & still needs to fix a few things to get things running smoothly. Although slow to get our food & drinks the service was friendly & attentive.
We waited more than an hour to be served. No food arrived. So we left after our cocktail. We had to go to a show so we couldn't wait any longer. The excuse made was their printer did not work . Go figure why a printer problem caused delay in service. We were the first clients that evening.
I visited Alur Restaurant today & had an amazing experience. The restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere is incredible, & you can really feel the passion that has gone into creating the Alur experience. The food was outstanding, & the jerk chicken was absolutely amazing-full of flavor & cooked perfectly. The cocktails were also excellent & added to an already great night.
As a General Manager at a restaurant in the West Island, I tend to pay close attention to service & staff when I dine out. One employee who really stood out was Shaq. Throughout the entire evening, I saw him constantly working clearing dishes, cleaning, setting tables, helping wherever he was needed, & keeping things running smoothly. Every time I looked around, he was moving & contributing.
What impressed me most was his positive attitude, professionalism, & work ethic. Employees like that make a huge difference in a restaurant, & I think it's important that he knows his hard work is being noticed by guests. In this industry, people often hear complaints but not enough compliments, & Shaq deserves recognition for the effort he puts in.
I was honestly so impressed that I even told him that if he ever wanted a different opportunity, I would be happy to have him join my team. That's how highly I think of his attitude & dedication.
The entire team did a fantastic job, & this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. I'll definitely be back. Keep up the great work, Alur, & special recognition to Shaq for his dedication, professionalism, & outstanding work ethic.
I had high expectations about this restaurant & it exceeded all my expectations! Jessica's personality alone elevated the experience. I ordered every she recommended & she also crafted me a cocktail that wasn't on the menu. When I'm back in Montreal, I'll definitely be back. 10/10 would recommend.
Cocktails are lovely, the'edibles' are fun & be weary of that Curaçao one!
Food is just phenomenal & if you need a goat curry (& trust me, you do), this is the place
