Great restaurant! Friendly, helpful staff with wonderful, fresh, delicious sushi. We tried some of the chef's specialties & really enjoyed them. We will definitely be going back.
sushi was fresh & présentation ok. spicy rolls' flavours not harmonious (bland with a sudden zing from flavoured mayo) & service was attentive but felt amateur. also - some rolls' composition did not match description (example: 17$ fire & ice roll description promises a roll with a layer of mango on the outside, instead there was a barely visible /detectable quantity in the roll). not bad but not rushing back any time soon...
Perfect combination of chic & affordable eating. I go out with a family of 6, so it's nice to fit it in a nice bill. Always friendly & kind staff make the experience so much better as well. Finest cooking, always fresh seafood in the sushi & sashimi. Just love these perfect cuts that I haven't quite found at all the other sushi places.
Love how easy to find this place is. & good location combined with great restaurant is definitely a success! I've been coming here at least 5 times already with a few colleagues, & it really doesn't get any better for a nice, relaxed atmosphere, courteous service, amazing sushi, always fresh.. Just perfect experience!
Can't go to Japan for fresh sushi? You must come to Sushi Aikawa. It has the best & freshest sushi in town. Reservation is a must & please don't be late. We were 30 min late & had to have our dinner someplace else. The next reservation we got was for 6pm & we took it anyway since we really wanted to try out the place. We were not dissapointed.
This restaurant has THE best sushi in West Island area, let alone anywhere in the Montreal. I have yet to taste anything that even compares, & that is saying a lot, seeing as how I love trying new sushi joints in & around Toronto. You definitely get your money's worth. Two rolls is more than enough for one person (I can never finish them); more suitable for two. The portions are huge & the fish is always fresh. I go at least once a week, if not more. I don't always dine in, but often call ahead for pick-up. It's ready, typically, within 10 minutes. I go so often that I don't even need to look at the menu.
The spicy salmon roll & the dynamite roll are a MUST. The dynamite roll is especially tasty: huge portion of fillings inside (tempura shrimp, cucumber, krab, avocado, salmon roe, etc.) with deep-fried tempura bits on the outside. A bite gives you the perfect amount of freshness from the avocado & cucumber, the crunchiness of the tempura bits, & the warmness of the "just out of the fryer" tempura. Yum!
Again, too much for me to handle, so I opt for the spicy salmon salad accompanied with either one.
I also tried the bulgogi roll, the spicy tuna roll, & the tuna/tomato roll (Don't order this; tomato makes it watery (?), if that makes sense). These rolls are okay. I'd rather stick with the "go-to's".
My boyfriend hates sushi so he always orders the chicken yaki udon/fried noodles. I've grown to liking it, although I've tasted better (like at Sushi Tei), & I guess the fact that he drenches it in Sriracha hot sauce, makes it taste more flavourful.
I love their bessame mucho sushi, the best I ever tried in Montreal. Aikawa is definitely offers the greatest sushi in DDO & even Montreal.
