Loïc Fortin, a Quebec finalist in the international Drink Masters competition on Netflix, launches his second establishment, La Gargamelle, on April 5th. After a revelation, while cooking for friends on New Year's Eve, Loïc decides to return to the kitchen to create this unique culinary project. La Gargamelle will distinguish itself by using conservation techniques and ingredients such as cereals and legumes, promoting creativity and reducing food waste. Reservations are now open for this new spot in the heart of Old Montreal.

Conceived by the team behind Régine Café and Janine Café, Paparmane Tea Room will open its doors on April 18th in the heart of Old Montreal. Offering a colorful experience of English tea time, the salon promises a gourmet and festive atmosphere. Opening hours will be Wednesday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a starting price of $50 per person for tea time.

A new branch of El Gordo in Saint-Lambert will open its doors in April. This neighborhood taqueria offers a friendly atmosphere and delicious dishes at affordable prices. Guests can enjoy a variety of tacos, meats, fish, or vegetables, as well as Latin American classics like quesadillas, burritos, and fajitas. Exotic cocktails like margaritas and mojitos complete the experience. Catering service is also available to bring the Mexican fiesta home.

Expected to open around March 30th, 2024, Piel Canela offers a unique brunch experience blending Latin American flavors with the well-known North American brunch concept, all in a Boozy Brunch atmosphere. The name, which means "Cinnamon Skin," evokes Latin heritage. The restaurant, part of the Barranco Group, invites guests to discover the best ingredients from Latin America in a lively atmosphere on Saint-Denis Street in Montreal.

On March 21st, Chez Simon Cantine Urbaine opened its doors at Time Out Market Montreal, joining Canada's elite burger restaurants. Originally established in Tétreaultville, the restaurant is led by Simon Jodoin-Bouchard, known as "Simon de l'Est" or "Smash Burger King." Before venturing into restaurants, Simon distinguished himself by winning third place in a Texas competition with his brisket. His smash burgers were voted the best in Montreal for three consecutive years.

On March 7th, Copilote opened next to Hélicoptère, in a former neighborhood convenience store, evoking a chic and relaxed atmosphere. Offering a dim and seductive ambiance with only 25 seats, it's the ideal option to extend the evening after dining at Hélicoptère. The menu, focusing on shareable plates, offers delights like oysters and tartare, while the cocktail menu, designed by Benjamin Gauthier, highlights seasonal products and Quebec spirits.

Onigiri Shop, which opened on March 3rd, quickly became a sensation on social media. Located in the Monkland neighborhood, they offer freshly handmade onigiris, offering a variety of fillings such as Korean fried chicken and spicy tuna. Their specialties, like the Omega-3, are particularly appreciated for their unique and generous flavors. With prices ranging from $4 to $7, it's excellent value for a satisfying meal. Despite the long queues, the quality is worth it.

February 28th marked the official opening of Juliette Plaza, an establishment run by the same owners as the famous Montreal Plaza. Located right next to its counterpart, this new restaurant stands out for its unique atmosphere and quality cuisine. The atmosphere is delicate, and the cuisine, orchestrated by the duo Cheryl Johnson and Charles-Antoine Crête, is creative and nostalgic. The menu, divided into sections such as appetizers, fish and meat dishes, and sides, offers a variety of choices at attractive prices, ranging from $5 to $25. The casual and warm ambiance, adorned with playful details like Smurfs figurines and Asterix comic book pages, makes it a welcoming place to enjoy delicious food while having a good time with friends.

The Grotto opened its doors on Saint-Jacques Street, near the Sauvage restaurant at the end of February. A hidden speakeasy's entrance requires an exclusive access code and the discovery of a hidden hatch. Inside, it's an intimate space with oriental influences that transports you into a modern cave. Its menu offers unique cocktails and tapas until 2 a.m., in a cozy atmosphere accompanied by live music. It is an ideal place for a night out with friends or a romantic date.

At the beginning of February, Restaurant Parapluie opened its doors, led by chef Robin Filteau Boucher and co-owner sommelier Karelle Voyer. Located on Beaubien, the place has an intimate and warm atmosphere, with an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs at work. The menu features dishes made from seasonal ingredients, with choices of small plates and more substantial dishes at affordable prices. The decoration evokes nostalgic charm, with some touches referring to Daniel Bélanger's song "Parapluie." Opened in February, Station Sharkcootery in Sainte-Rose warmly welcomes guests with its takeaway counter concept specializing in sweet croffles and freshly made drinks. In addition to its catering service, the team focuses on memorable events, from brunches to gatherings among foodie friends. Their passion for excellence is reflected in every detail, offering an authentic and friendly experience.

Located on Duluth, Restaurant Bar Vivar opened its doors in January. Run by chef-owner Georges Greiche and his friend Patrick Oakes, alumni of Joe Beef, the bar offers a warm, Spanish atmosphere. Inspired by Basque culture, it offers a variety of tapas and traditional dishes, including tortilla and jamón. Patrick's carefully selected wine list of sherries and vermouths completes the experience. With its welcoming decor and selection of wines, sherries and cocktails, Bar Vivar is a must-see on the Plateau.
