Restaurant Yuukai (Japanese fusion) on the popular and busy Avenue du Parc, serves affordable Japanese and Sushi dishes.
Sit back and enjoy the Maki rolls, Sushi, Sashimi and other tasty dishes on the menu and don't forget to Bring your own wine or Saké! Rare for a Montreal Japanese restaurant, but Yuukai allows diners to bring their own wine. Local Delivery as well as take-out is also available.
With its refined décor, white walls and small wooden tables, many will find it a very Zen-like atmosphere. The welcoming and friendly staff will surely make you want to visit Yuukai a second and third time.
Yuukai Sushi draws praise for exceptionally fresh, flavorful sushi and creative recipes, with salmon dishes and sashimi noted as standout and the presentation described as beautiful; many reviewers call it among the best sushi spots and appreciate the BYOW option and the small terrace that adds appeal. The overall impression is positive regarding food quality and value, with several diners noting friendly, attentive service and a welcoming, neighborhood vibe. However, some visits reveal inconsistencies in service and timing, with complaints about delays, misfires on orders, and in one instance an uncomfortable interaction with a younger waiter that soured the experience. A few critics feel the menu is limited or the specials hard to see from certain seats, though others insist the chef's creativity and fresh ingredients justify the trip and that the restaurant remains worth visiting for those seeking distinctive sushi. In sum, Yuukai Sushi is frequently described as fresh, tasty, and worth a visit for those who value quality ingredients and BYOW, while service reliability and menu clarity vary by visit.
Their rolls are okay, the best thing to get are the sashimi & the nigiri. Wait time for each dish was very long approx. 15-20 mins for 2 nigiris. But overall very positive

Despite the good reviews, I found this restaurant to be mediocre at best. We had two entrees & Sushi for 2 & it was over 300 dollars with the tip. The Gyoza were store bought & frozen, I know because I buy the same ones, & the sushi although good was very expensive & rather limited in its variety. The specials are written on the wall & difficult to see depending on where you are sitting, & the regular menu is the shortest that I have ever seen in a sushi restaurant. The plus is that it is BYOW, which saved the bill from being 500...now the service. I feel a bit apprehensive about writting this, but it has to be mentionned. The young waiter, who appears to be the son of the owner, was not very professional in his manner & what was very offputting was that he liked to lean in close to talk to you, when the restaurant was not even loud, & rested his hand on my shoulder 4 times, even when I indicated that I did not like to be touched...what was worse, & this is the part I hesitated to write about, was that the young man had an obvious hygiene problem & his breath smelled so bad that we did not want to order more in terms of dessert at the end of the meal.It was literally unbearable. He was very offputting to say the least. For the cost, the service the quality & scarcety of the menu, I unfortunately cannot recomend this restaurant, there are far better Sushi places in MontreaL.
we're here at the moment, it's not the biggest of places, but the food, the service & the atmosphere compensante for the space so much.
you're looking for fresh fish, excellent & creative recipe, try it.
Worked in many sushi restaurants in Quebec, it's definitely in the top ones I've tried .
