I didn't find to my taste the fries with the cheese sauce. The burger was good.
Burger was nothing special but not bad, fries were terrible. Almost certainly use McCain frozen fries.
An okay burgers but for the price you can do better. Nice fries but sad bacon, absolutely not worth the addition
The burgers would be pretty good if ours werent so overly salty. Both me & my brother found these hard to finish with all the salt in the patties. These are soft smashburgers, I wish they got a bit more crisped up on the grill but the flavors are nice.
The fries also were quite plain, though they were fresh & hot.
My wife & I embarked on a delightful outing to downtown Montreal with the sole purpose of meeting up with our daughter. We planned to indulge in a quick & satisfying meal, a task that posed some challenges due to our limited time constraints. After a brief discussion, we unanimously agreed that burgers were the optimal choice for our on-the-go lunch. Naturally, the thought of McDonald's was dismissed given its bustling lunchtime crowd. At the same time, opting for a high-end burger establishment seemed impractical as it would undoubtedly consume more time than we could afford.
Thankfully, our daughter came to the rescue with a fantastic recommendation: Yumi Burger, conveniently situated at 1448 Rue Mackay in the heart of Montreal. What made this burger joint particularly intriguing was its specialization in smash burgers. What's more, it was situated in an area that held nostalgic significance for me, as it was near my old stomping grounds around Concordia University. Upon entering the restaurant, I was instantly struck by the youthful ambiance reminiscent of a college crowd. Surprisingly, this atmosphere didn't bother me in the least; in fact, it added a unique charm to the dining experience.
A smash burger refers to a variety of hamburger creations involving the action of'smashing' or pressing down on a spherical mass of ground beef onto a heated cooking surface, commonly a griddle or skillet. The primary objective of this method is to craft a thin patty boasting a crisp & caramelized outer layer while preserving the succulent & richly flavored interior.
The attraction of a smash burger lies in the amalgamation of textures-ranging from the crunchy outer layer to the tender, juicy interior-coupled with the interplay of flavors originating from the diverse toppings. This particular burger style is widely favored & is frequently linked with establishments reminiscent of diners or fast-food burger chains.
In recent years, smash burgers have gained noteworthy popularity, prompting numerous dining establishments & culinary enthusiasts to explore distinct meat blends, seasonings, & toppings in their pursuit of innovative takes on this timeless burger variant.
Following our daughter's suggestion, we decided to indulge in Yumi Burger's signature cheeseburger, aptly named the Yumi cheeseburger. With the decision made, we placed our orders, each of us selecting the same mouthwatering burger accompanied by a side of fries & a refreshing beverage. What pleasantly surprised me was the affordability of the bill. Despite the decadence of the meal, the overall cost for the three of us was comparable to what one might spend at a typical fast-food establishment. This was a far cry from the exorbitant prices often associated with upscale burger restaurants.
With our plates before us, we collectively marveled at the sight of our well-crafted burgers. Each comprised a single patty adorned with fresh lettuce, succulent caramelized onions, delectably sautéed mushrooms, & the pièce de resistance: the secret Yumi sauce. Despite my initial skepticism, I was genuinely delighted by the taste of my burger. The flavors harmonized beautifully, resulting in a culinary delight that exceeded my expectations. The accompanying crispy fries proved to be a delightful complement to the main course, elevating the overall dining experience to new heights.
If you find yourself in the downtown area & hankering for a swift & budget-friendly meal, Yumi Burger stands out as the ideal selection. You'll undoubtedly be pleased with your decision. By opting for delivery, you can sidestep the hustle & bustle of crowds. This option is particularly appealing for travelers staying in hotels, offering them a convenient & satisfying dining experience right from their accommodations. @mtlrestorap
Good burger & fries. Only wish the fries portion were bigger for a combo meal.
Nice ambience & staff.
Food is not worth the money. Ingredients felt cheap (the bun, crinkle fries & mushrooms) & the patty was disappointing in terms of taste. The burger all together felt thin. The poutine was fine but not worth the extra amount. I don't mind small portions but the quality was worse than expected. Can't recommend since you can find better burgers for the same price a block away.
Yumi Burger in downtown Montréal is a fantastic spot for anyone craving a flavorful, halal-friendly burger experience. Located conveniently in the city core, it's easy to access whether you're a local on lunch break or a visitor exploring downtown. The restaurant offers a modern, casual vibe with quick service, making it a great choice for both dine-in & takeout.
The highlight, of course, is the burgers. Yumi Burger serves halal-certified beef & chicken, ensuring peace of mind for those seeking halal options without compromising on taste. The patties are juicy & well-seasoned, with creative toppings that go beyond the ordinary-expect bold sauces, fresh ingredients, & combinations that stand out. They also offer vegetarian choices, so there's something for everyone. The fries & sides are crisp & tasty, pairing perfectly with the burgers, while their milkshakes are a popular favorite for a sweet finish.
The staff were pleasant, & patient! My daughter had the Yumi with cheese & mine was without! The smash was perfect! Being her first real'smash burger'- she is hooked & her standards are set high! The crispy edge was exactly 💯 what you want! The burgers come standard with lettuce, tomatoes & their own'Yumi' sauce- which we both kept as is! Great choice! Just a tiny kick that pairs well with the fresh lettuce & tomatoes on the freshest bun to soak everything up! The fries were lightly seasoned & crisp!
We sat on the roadside patio- it was shaded by the buildings- & breezy. They offer inside seating as well, however we did not really look into it!
The best burger place in the city ,
by far the tastiest smash burger i've ever had, The service was very quick & the staff was friendly, i recommend
Amazing Burgers😍😍 the taste is out of this world 👌 service is quick & friendly, you just gained a custome
For me this is still the best burger in Montreal when it comes to Burger shops strictly. I've tried almost every burger place in town Yumi keeps it simple. & they're easy going & nice , feels like you're eating at a friend's place rather than a restaurant & price is reasonable , costs $18/ meal(trio) that's how much McDonald's costs nowadays & we know that will make u sick
Clean, simple, quiet, opens late. They have self-order ports as well as a tv to watch football. Fries are expensive but burgers & other things are fine.
The food is pretty good, the staff is always friendly & gets you your order very fast.
The fries are overpriced though but that is pretty much the only negative I can come up with.
A late night burger joint right right by Concordia University. The burger is a tasty smash burger with plenty of toppings. The decor is modern & clean. The staff is very friendly. There is even an outdoor terrace during the summertime. A nice place for a quick burger craving.
Return to Yuma Burger for an update & I must say it's was just if not better than my first visit two years ago!
They've added a self serve touch screen to place your order which was extremely user friendly. There's a screen in the seating area which tells you when your order # is ready.
This time I ordered the Yumi cheeseburger & it was very juicy & the flavour was outstanding! Establishment was clean & in the seating holds about 50.
The service is still top notch!
5 star rating & definite spot to visit for a Smash burger!
I walked in & was a bit worried because no one was there except two gentlemen working the front. It was a Sunday afternoon though… anyways, I ordered a single cheese burger combo. It came with a small fry & can of pop. I asked if there were additional toppings I could put on it & was told no. He said it only came with lettuce & tomatoes. It also came with a spicy mayo, but I digress. I asked if I could get onions & he said yes. The night before there seemed to be a bunch of options you could add to your burger on SKIP….
The burger was freshly smashed on the grill & the toppings were fresh. Canadian cheddar cheese I believe as American Cheddar would impose a 25% tariff. The bun wasn't anything special but it did the trick. Crinkle cut fries. Prices were reasonable. It was a tasty burger, served quickly. Two packs of ketchup; I probably could have used another.
Only one other person was there when I was eating, so it wasn't very busy at all. Atmosphere was relaxed & the Football ⚽? game was playing on TV. I gave them 5 stars because there wasn't any reason to give them less than that.
Generic millennial burger place. You overpay for basic burgers that are worth $5 at best. Fries are separate, & of course you can pay $3 more for'truffle' fries. These places always have a truffle option.
