A very chic & elegant restaurant in Old port Montreal! It features authentic Japanese cuisine with a twist of Asian & French influences & fresh ingredients flown in from Japan.
The prices for sushi ranges from 20$ to 170$. The place is not cheap. However, this pricing is justified by the exceptional quality of the ingredients used.
To drink, you'll find an excellent selection of signature cocktails with Asian influences & bold flavors.
It's an ideal place to visit for a gathering, business lunch/dinner or a date night!

I recently spent the weekend in Montreal with the girls for a little getaway. On our first night, we had dinner at Yubari, a sleek Japanese restaurant known for its fresh, authentic sushi. The vibes were immaculate-chic yet cozy, perfect for everything from a casual night out to a celebratory dinner. Our waitress was a gem-super sweet, attentive, & incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, which made our experience even better.
We ordered their edamame, salmon tacos, crispy rice, sashimi platter (12pcs) & their Yubari signature rolls.
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, & the presentation of each dish was stunning-almost too pretty to eat. The edamame was coated in truffle, giving it a rich, earthy twist that elevated it far beyond the usual appetizer. It practically melted in my mouth. The sashimi & Yubari signature rolls were incredibly fresh, each bite packed with clean, balanced flavors. But the standout for me was the crispy rice-topped with Bluefin tuna tartare, a touch of mujjol caviar, lemon zest, & a drizzle of unagi sauce. The contrast of textures & flavors made every bite burst with richness, brightness, & just the right hint of sweetness.View more
After a year since its big, lavish opening party, we were excited to finally check it out for ourselves. However, what we found left us a bit confused.
We started with a couple of sushi rolls, which were decent but didn't justify their high price tag. The octopus was well-cooked, with admittedly creative flavors, yet it still fell a little flat.
The standout item for us was the mini wagyu burger, which had a taste & quality that surpassed everything else we sampled. We joked that they should consider opening a burger joint (seriously, do it; I'd come to that).
They also offer a variety of additional items like dumplings, fried rice, & various entrées & meats.
The lively atmosphere, complete with a DJ & leopard-print banquettes, gave off a vibe more suited for a nightlife spot than a restaurant focused on quality cuisine.
The decor featured some nice Japanese-inspired touches, like a bonsai tree, but the combination of higher-class restaurant pricing, an underwhelming & scattered menu, & a nightlife vibe made the whole thing feel misaligned. Even their website emphasizes a visual experience over taste, & unfortunately, that was reflected in our visit. It seems they are more focused on the experience than delivering exceptional food, which is a critical miss for a restaurant of this caliber in that area.
While we still enjoyed our time on some level, & the service was very quick & friendly, we feel they need to find a clearer direction in both their offerings & priorities.View more
Love love love
It's my new favorite Japanese restaurant in Montreal. We loved our experience.
The quality of the food was simply outstanding & the service was impeccable.
The gyozas were so good that we had them again for dessert!!! Seriously, we skipped dessert & ordered gyozas.
Definitely recommend & we are already planning our next visit.View more
A Culinary Gem in Montreal: Yubari
Yubari is an unforgettable journey into the heart of Japanese culinary excellence. It's been years since I last encountered fish this fresh; the only comparable experience was in Japan itself. The exquisite quality of their seafood speaks volumes about their dedication to authenticity & excellence.
What truly sets Yubari apart is their unique variety of prime-quality fish, skillfully paired with creative ingredients & presented with artistic precision. Each dish is a testament to the unmatched talent of their sushi chef, Marcelo, whose craftsmanship elevates every piece of sushi into a work of art. From the melt-in-your-mouth makis to the impeccable nigiris, every bite at Yubari is a symphony of flavors & textures.
& the experience doesn't stop at the sushi. The bar is helmed by the exceptional bartender, Patrick, whose mastery over mixology is nothing short of impressive. Every drink is crafted to perfection, adding another layer of delight to the dining experience.
Other remarkable aspect about Yubari is their seamless operation. You can feel the harmony & positivity radiating between the staff, chefs, & management, creating an inviting & vibrant atmosphere that enhances every moment spent there.
While Montreal is home to several great sushi spots, none quite compare to Yubari's level of sophistication & quality. It's truly a must-visit for anyone craving an unparalleled Japanese dining experience. Bravo to the entire Yubari team-you've set a new standard of excellence!View more
Simply one of the best Japanese resto in Montreal!! The whole team is awesome, very friendly servers!View more
My wife & I spent 4 days visiting Montreal for the holidays, & this was out favorite restaurant. YUBARI (found inside a hotel) is a Japanese restaurant with a wonderful wood-slat decor, dim ambiance, & beautiful bar. The seats were comfortable, the music was unintrusive, & the hosts collected our Jackets which was really nice on a cold/snowy day. We ordered the wagyu mini burger, two sushi rolls, fried rice, & two desserts. The true star was the sushi as the Maori Tai & Yubari signature were both outstanding. The flavors, textures, & even the foods temperature were all perfect. Regarding service, our server was very friendly & gave great recommendations. He had his hands full with some larger tables but still made sure to check in. The food times were a bit long, but nothing crazy. Our favorite person there was absolutely Anita. She probably poured us a gallon of water, & had fun doing it! what a vibrant & lovely person. We really enjoyed chatting with her & she really changed our experience from a fabulous meal to a fantastic outing. overall, if your in this part of Montreal, id say this is a no brainer! Stop by for some great food, quiet luxurious atmosphere, attentive service, & a good time. Be warned however, it is not cheap! If you come hungry its easy to spend 100+$ a person, so if budget is a problem, save it for a special Occassion it'll be worth the wait.View more
Hello world! It's inspiring already the moment you enter the restaurant, nestled in the backdrop of Montreal's Old Port, this exceptional sushi establishment transcends the ordinary dining experience. The atmosphere envelops you in an aura of elegance & tranquility, complemented by attentive yet unobtrusive service. Great impeccable service from Brian, great aura, the confidence, very personable, & Donnahue "Donna" thank you, it shows she cares about her job, embodying what Yubari is, high-class & exclusivity... A great smile too! The meticulously curated menu showcases an exquisite array of traditional & innovative dishes, each a testament to the artistry of Japanese cuisine. I say "Bravo!" to the chefs, kisses to the chefs, they are exemplifying their dedication to serve excellence of each bites. Let's be honest, is it overpriced? Absolutely highway robbery, but it's not their fault, it's only yours! Even if you just want to get ripped off & impress your date (you better hope the night ends just how you are imagining it for the price you're going to pay) eating the same California roll just as the same as Joe Blow down the street, be my guest. Having said that, be a pro, accept your losses, shake your head in disbelief & take another sip of your cocktail, it'll make the seduction process less repugnant. Listen, the dish arrives at the table, you will be in awe, the presentation is nothing short of artistic, transforming each dish into a visual masterpiece, see photos... Right?! Not only a feast for the palate but also for the eyes. Yubari is a sanctuary for sushi aficionados & novices alike, promising an unparalleled gastronomic journey that is as intellectually stimulating as it is delightfully indulgent. I honestly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a sophisticated MASTERPIECE EXPERIENCE in a truly private & intimate setting. Yubari is not for the fainted heart, if you're Dave Chappelle in "Half baked" this is not the joint for you!View more

Ate here for my husbands birthday, service & food was exceptional! The team made him feel very special. Everything is so fresh, delicious & unique. Sashimi is a must! The Japanese slipper was one of the best cocktails I've had at a restaurant! Special thank you to Brian, the manager, who was so attentive the entire night.View more
Service & atmosphere were excellent! Makis were good. Crab/pork stir fried rice, so so. Very salty. Would have been ok if it wasn't so salty. Lobster noodle was extremely salty! Everyone at the table had a hard time eating it. Would not order again. Miso marinaded cod: the celeriac cream sauce was not a bonus for me though my non Asian friends loved it. Miso marinated cod is usually one of my favourites but the cream sauce completely overshadowed the sweet miso marinade, which was supposed to be the highlight of this dish. The Japanese cheesecake, way overcooked & dry. This place was really about the atmosphere & service. Given the price & ratings, I had high expectations. I would personally not come back again, as the price to food quality was not worth it for me.View more
In short, we paid for 3 set menus but only got 2 incomplete menus that were delayed in service. While Yubari presents a promising array of Japanese cuisine, my recent visit during Grand Prix weekend left me with mixed feelings. The dishes, primarily Japanese fare, displayed culinary finesse & premium ingredients, but the portions served did not justify the price paid. Adding to the disappointment, the service failed to meet expectations, particularly evident in the delayed arrival of the sashimi platter, an essential element of any Japanese dining experience. Despite our patience, the platter arrived an hour & a half after being seated, & it only catered to two individuals despite our larger party. This logistical oversight necessitated repeated reminders about the missing items from the set menu to our server, disrupting the meal's flow & diminishing overall enjoyment. Furthermore, the fact that we had pre-paid for a set menu upon booking only added to our dissatisfaction. Despite the upfront payment, we felt we overpaid for the amount & quality of food provided. The delayed service of the sashimi platter, a key component of the set menu, further accentuated this sense of dissatisfaction.View more
The food was good but enough with these club style restaurants playing club music. It's much nicer to go to a serious authentic Japanese restaurant owned by someone Japanese. Overpriced. Menu wasn't exciting but quality was good.View more
Amazing place, part of the great Hotel St Paul!!! Very good Japanese food & Sake! The cocktails are so nice & the staff is there to give you the best service!!! I'll come back for sure ! Oh & I almost forgot but the DJs are always bringing the nicest playlist 👌👌👌View more
Delicious food, very attentive & polite service. Good vibe. Priced very expensive for Montreal - above other excellent Japanese cuisine restaurants.View more
Seems like it's hard to be impressed with a sushi place these days. But Yubari exceeded our expectations. Everything ordered for the table was delicious & mouthwatering. Salmon sashimi literally melted in the mouth, never have tried such salmon before. Maki had unique taste which is certainly different from many other places. The dessert was also very good, we took a chocolate one & it tasted like Ferrero Roche in a cake but even better. Definitely this will be my go to sushi/Japanese food place, though it's pricey. The only thing we didn't like that night was the service, waitresses were trying to take out plates even before we finished eating. That definitely was hasty & too much. Hope they'll change it given the place is still very new. But the ambience, music & food are enjoyable making you want to come back.View more
