Review Summary

Reviews present Yin Ji as a casual spot that serves authentic Cantonese and Hong Kong style dishes, with congee and rice noodle rolls as signatures and a menu that spans dim sum classics and Cantonese specialties. Dishes are described as fresh, delicate, and flavorful, with the congee and rice rolls frequently highlighted and the Hong Kong style drinks and milk tea praised for balance and refreshment. Ordering from a QR code and the loyalty stamp program are noted as convenient touches that encourage return visits. The new location in Brossard is repeatedly noted as brighter and more welcoming, though a few comments mention crowded spaces or the occasional service delay. While most sentiment centers on strong value and authentic flavors, some items are described as slightly bland or overly salty and a few portions or price points can feel steep, yet overall Yin Ji is viewed as a reliable spot for comforting Cantonese cuisine and all day dim sum.

At Yin Ji, You can get some traditional, non conventional plates, as if you where in China, Guangdong province.

Yin Ji's offers is also influenced by Hong Kong blend of flavors. So it's traditional plates have modernity of the 20th century, but still very authentic.

Drinks, especially with milk are all on the modern & Hongkong side which are refreshing.

Yin Ji's specialties are noodle rolls & congee. But you can have some Dim Sum plates, but also some other Cantonese specialties.

Orders are done thru smartphone, so bringing one with you is a good idea.

The dishes are fresh, mostly delicate, but tasty & authentic. The service is nice & fast, like 5 to 10 minutes between plates rotation.

If you want to explore new dishes through Cantonese culture, Yin Ji offers some specific dishes impossible to find at other Chinese restaurants in the whole Québec province.

All in all it's a great place, authentic & exotic flavors with pricing on the wallet friendly side.

It's definitely one of the place to put in your list if you want to explore more classic or authentic dishes without taking an airplane ticket to China.

A friend recommended us this resto. Went here to try. Just 2 of us & waited half hour to get seated. Table was very small!! We ordered 5 dishes & waiter had to squeeze all 5 to make a room. On top of all this nuisance, was a couple seating next to us reaching out for chopsticks, hot sauce which were both on our table!! As for the food, in fairness, I could say Conge was good. Generous portion but quite salty. We liked the siomai. Braised beef was delicious. Rest of our orders were ok.

For years, we had to drive all the way to Toronto to enjoy authentic Hong Kong-style congee & other delicious dishes. Now, we can savor the same great flavors right here on Taschereau Street in Brossard! The location is convenient, with plenty of free parking available.

-1 star : Chinese people drink Tea, not tapped water. Why can't you serve free hot tea?

This is the restaurant my husband & I always go to it feels like our little love spot. The dishes are light, flavorful, & comforting. I especially love the fish congee, seafood congee, Hong Kong style fish balls, & their delicious dim sum dishes like har gow (shrimp dumplings) & rice rolls with shrimp & pork everything here is truly tasty & reasonably priced.

They also serve fragrant Hong Kong milk tea, which I really enjoy. We used to visit their downtown location, but even now that they've moved farther away, we still make the trip to support them it's our go to place.

A hot bowl of fish congee warms not just the body, but the soul something we Asians truly appreciate, especially during the cold season. There's nothing better than a steaming bowl of comfort on a chilly day.

Yin Ji is a casual diner offering some simple Cantonese classics of congee & cheung fun, & a bit more.

The congee is well-seasoned with a smooth & almost creamy consistency. The cheung fun were silky & the seasoned soy sauce was lightly sweet without being overpowering.

The cheung fun have a great texture, but perhaps the price is a little steep for what they are. Cheung fun are typically such simple & casual dishes made with inexpensive ingredients. I almost have trouble justifying the 10$+ post-tax price for a plate, & that's in the mid-range of what they offer for cheung fun.
I also did not love the iceberg lettuce in the cheung fun & would prefer they be served without it. The lettuce is wilted & wet, & does not leave enough room for the silkiness of the cheung fun to shine.

Ordering can only be done online via the QR-code that is made available on every table. While we understand most people have smartphones & can access this link, unfortunately much of the Asian demographic in Brossard is of the elderly who are unlikely to have a smartphone. The staff was understanding enough of this concern & was able to provide us with a physical menu for our elder, but also warned us that the menu was outdated & the online menu should be referenced instead.

All in all, the food was good for what it is: simple, casual, filling, & hits the spot for those who are a little homesick for something traditional. Perhaps if you are coming to eat with elderly Chinese folk who may be frugal & a little judgemental, don't tell them how much you spent on their meal.
