Yans Deli stands as a premier destination for authentic Jewish deli fare, offering a robust menu steeped in tradition. Patrons can anticipate a full spectrum of classic deli sandwiches, piled high with hand-sliced meats like corned beef and pastrami, complemented by hearty sides such as creamy coleslaw and dill pickles. The establishment is renowned for its signature smoked meats, prepared with meticulous care, and its array of traditional soups, including matzo ball soup, that provide comforting, familiar flavors. Freshly baked rye bread and delectable desserts, like cheesecake, round out the quintessential deli experience, ensuring every visit is a satisfying journey through beloved culinary staples.
Yans Deli has quickly established itself as a standout destination in Montreal, offering a modern and elevated take on classic deli comfort food. Guests consistently praise the exceptional quality of the smoked and cured meats, particularly the pastrami, alongside hearty offerings like chicken soup, latkes, and gourmet steak cuts. The atmosphere is frequently described as warm, inviting, and family-friendly, enhanced by thoughtful decor and a genuine passion for hospitality. While some diners have noted premium pricing or occasional service lapses, the overwhelming majority of visitors highlight the attentive, kind staff and the care put into every dish. Whether for a casual brunch or a memorable dinner, the restaurant is widely considered a must-visit local gem that delivers a consistently high-quality and heartfelt dining experience.
the turf n turf is every carnivores paradise: a mountain of tender, juicy, flavourful brisket & pastrami sandwiched between two fluffy, slightly toasted buns. where most sandwiches would've suffered from the ridiculous meatiness of the dish, the challah bread did an AMAZING job of containing it. it was thick & bready enough so that it doesn't get soggy & the meat didn't fall out, & the sweetness of the challah balanced the heavy, smoky flavours. the most special part was surprisingly not the melting, dripping meats, but the creamy, alfredo-like emulsions of swiss cheese & sauce smothered on top.
Maybe it's just Uber Eats pricing but everything was overpriced, even before the delivery fees. I really wanted to try this place since it was getting hyped & it was local business & cuisine, but too far to get to in person.
Unfortunately everything was underwhelming. The pastrami sandwich & the big cheeseburger were typical portion & average flavours for a major markup. The beef bacon side was alright but a small portion.
Saw a review on ig that the team at Yans Deli had a smoker out back cooking up some meat ??… so I work not too far so you guessed it… Ya boy Jay had to try!! When I tell you tender, succulent, juicy, packed with flavour, I mean… The meat is TENDER, SUCCULENT, JUICY & DAMMIT !!! PACKED WITH FLAVOUR!!! Ya grandmother doesn't even need to have her teeth in her head to bite into that pistrammi sandwich. Really, really good & will definitely be back to try the rest of your menu!
Yans Deli is one of those places where you can taste the history & heritage in every bite. The menu stays true to classic deli traditions while bringing bold, memorable flavours to the table. Everything we tried was packed with character & clearly made with care.
My recommendation: come with a friend, share the chicken soup & a few party sandwiches to start, then split a main. It's the perfect way to experience a bit of everything & appreciate what makes this place special.
The value is great, & it's even better during the World Cup, when they're offering a burger, fries, & a beer or soft drink for $25 while the games are on.
A true Montreal institution that proves great traditions never go out of style. Highly recommended. 🍽?⭐
We loved it, my parents loved it, my kids loved it! That's a rare gem of a restaurant. I wish my grandparents were still around, because we'd come here every weekend, & they'd love it too. Everything was beyond expectation, & you could feel the craft & attention to detail behind each dish. Everything was fresh & full of flavours…equally nostalgic & modern. Can't recommend Yans more.
Came for the pastrami, & was not disappointed. The meat was divine, perfectly tender & flavourful. Complemented nicely w a mustard that took nothing away from the meat. Truly masterful. Can't wait to come back & try other offerings. Now THIS is what a deli is all about. GREAT JOB
Beautiful, minimalist space with food that is extraordinary. I had the chicken soup (which was the best I've ever eaten), & simply had to bring one home. Also had the pastrami omelette - don't let the simple name fool you -this was an elevated, delicious egg frittata; juicy & bursting with flavour. Can't wait to come back to try so many other tempting dishes...
Everything about this place is excellent. The food is top notch with extremely high quality ingredients & flavour. Everything is made in house & you can truly taste the difference. The service is great, everyone is so nice. Will be back soon
My favourite Pastrami in town. I ordered takeout from here a few times before I checked out the menu online & decided that it would be a great place to sit at a table with a handful of friends. Family style or individual meals, the portions are generous & the flavours are phenomenal. Coffees, cocktails, & soft drinks also phenomenal. Open space with plenty of seating but busy enough to recommend reserving a table in advance. Kid & senior-friendly. Free parking on the street or in the lot over to the side.
We first visited just a few days after the opening & it was sensational. The pastrami was juicy, the bread warm, soft, & thick. Hands down the best pastrami sandwich we've ever had. It melted in our mouth. The party sandwich was just as impressive.
We returned today &, unfortunately, everything was off. The meat was overcooked & dry, the breads weren't warm & moist enough, & the overall flavour was lacking. A disappointment compared to our first visit.
