I took the sicilian meat lover & the magherita grandma. The magherita was absolutely delicious. I finally understood what the umami flavor means. I do have one complain about it tho. The cashier told us it was fresh, but I think they let it cool too much & the slice I received was lukewarm at best, which made the slice a bit hard to chew. Still, despite that, the flavor was insane. I prefered that flavor over the sicilian. I highly recommend trying the place & I'll be back myself for sure.View more
There are two categories of pizzeria's in town. Welldun falls under the latter: Expensive, High End with a spin (in this case, two) on pizza's.
Marguerita Pizza (the true choice to test the 3 main ingredients). Dough spot on, thin, light, crispy. Sauce nice, like one step below fresh tomatoes (not possible season round) but good, right flavour. Cheese was mozzarella, it was okay & helped out by the pecorino grated cheese. 4 out of 5.
Spicy Sausage Pizza. Ah yes, this one could of been great like other pizzerias. Dough, Sauce, Mozzarella like a Margarita. By spicy sausage, we thought the sausage was spicy (spicy peppers used for hot & spicy flavour). Way too little sausage (maybe 10 fingernail size pieces of sausage) & Way too many peppers (they got quantities mixed up imho). 2.5 out of 5.
Sicilian Style Pepperoni Pizza. Well, I am not a fan of this spin on a pan type pizza. Tomato sauce stlii good, but the dough is a little too greasy imho (not sure if Sicilian Pizza is supposed to be this greasy). Ah, the pepperoni, sorry guys but it is one of the low end ingredients you use on your pizza's. It is bland, super small, & gets'dog ears' when cooked as it curls up. Only saving grace, it's not oily on top. Flavour less. 3.5 out of 5.
This place hits a homerun for that walk in slice & go customer. They sell alot, it's fast & fresh. Hard pass if you're doing takeout for a family & friends gathering. 3 pizza's ran me a $100 & at best they are like a Domino's Medium in size. They were not bad, but with 6 people & kids there was leftovers.View more
Delicious! We ordered 3 slices. Everything was delicious. Don't know what they put in the tomato sauce but wow, so good! Perfect crust for all different styles of pizza. I can't remember what they were. Two were the pepperoni & one was a margarita. Definitely will be getting my pizza from here from now on & you should to.View more
I'm not crazy about the detroit & new york style but love the sicilian & grandma. Very original & delicious! I wish I could have vegetarian vodka sauce option :)
EDIT JULY 2025: I have gotten a new york slice a couple times & I like it a lot more now.View more
Depending on if you take 1,2 slices, the waiting time is pretty fast. If you take a whole pie, you might have to wait a bit longer, plus the fact that it's a trendy spot there might have a line up to place an order. Besides all that, the pizza is delicious.View more
View more
Heard good things about Welldun & decided to check it out. The NY Margherita was amazing, reminded us of NYC pizza.. The Detroit pizza was also delish. Great ambience on Wellington. Long wait & pricey $23 for 3 slices, but everyone is super friendly.View more
Update, 2 years later: Their pizza is great, probably best slice on Wellington.
Sadly ordering takes forever & after 5pm it's a gamble if there's anything in the window to order, especially if there's 5 people in line before you.
Usually there's a single person handling walkins, the phone, & uber drivers.
It also hurts to see the Uber drivers standing there for ages, sometimes with half their order getting cold & the rest mysteriously missing.
Needs massive help on the'front of house'. Everybody except the main pizza makers seem depressed.View more
Decided to stop in for a slice while I was strolling down Wellington street in Verdun. I was looking for a sandwich shop or blackstrap bbq but couldn't find either so I decided to go inside Welldun pizza to sample a slice & I am glad I did: The pizza was awesome! Fresh ingredients, chunky pizza sauce & crispy'welldun' dough. I had a slice of the Margherita & a slice of the Sicilian style pepperoni (a corner of course!).
Atmosphere was cool, it reminded me of an old school pizzeria & I loved the counter seating in the back of the restaurant. The Service was very friendly & welcoming. I watched the owner carefully making one delicious pizza after another while talking with some regular customers. Loved the ambiance & will definitely be making a return trip very soon! As I was leaving I saw a beautiful pie coming out of the oven, the carnivore, with heaping servings of various meats. I wanted to sit back down & have another slice but decided to save it for the next time ; ...
It turns out Welldun Pizza is in the same spot as the old Blackstrap BBQ. A second life for a great location! Highly recommended for a quick delicious pizzaView more
I would give this place 10 stars if I could!!! I tried it today for the first time after being highly disappointed with pizza in Montreal especially after trying pizza in New Jersey, this place restored my faith lol the pizza was PERFECTION!! I had the carnivore Sicilian style the sauce was DELICIOUS the crust was airy & fluffy on the inside & crispy on the outside & they were not stingy on the toppings! Best pizza I have had in Montreal BY FAR!!! The service was quick even though it was a super busy day & the cashier was so friendly & welcoming. We will 100% be returning & recommending this place to anyone looking for the best slice in town!View more
Been here a couple times before, I love their Detroit & Grandma slices! Decided to ordered four large New York pizzas over the weekend for a house party. Order was ready on time & pizza was absolutely delicious! Definitely the best pizza in the neighborhood!View more
Amazing pizza. Great for a quick slice. Best New York margherita in town & an amazing grandma style pizza.View more
Detroit style pizza is not easy to find in Montreal, this is 1 of 3 places where I have found it sold. The fact that this place specialized in this excited me. The young man who greeted & served me was really warm, appreciated his good service. As for the slice - I have to say I've certainly had better Detroit-style pizza but I love this stuff so much I was not disappointed still. The complimentary hot honey is cool too. Might return to try something else.View more
Really cool spot with solid pizza. Tried one of each style & Detroit/ Sicilian was better IMO to their NY slice. Highly recommend Detroit & SicilianView more
A fantastic pizzeria, top two for me in the whole city - & I have eaten a lot of pizza! A variety of crusts & toppings, & we haven't put a foot wrong with them yet. My husband ordered the pepperoni & I think it was his favorite ever pepperoni slice, on the Sicilian crust. I've enjoyed just the margherita, always a strong sign for the quality of the ingredients. Eating in is nice, though it can be a bit loud. But we've greatly enjoyed it & we'll be back again soon!View more
Only problem was that when you go to the counter to order, they might not have the specific type of pizza that you want a slice(or two) of.View more
well, firstly the PIZZA is great I highly recommend it! but... I been 2 times. First time they had a power outage, took forever to serve us, I was telling us to take my cash, & was willing to take the pizza cold I was next in like it took hey 25 min to figure out to pull out a phone & calculate cash orders) anyways (these things happen)I went back, the cashiers were pretty lost again. I went in this time & there's was no pizza out, she said they had 2 slices somewhere & so I ordered one to offer the next guy in line a chance. I asked is any of other pizza coming? she said no... I see people order after me & pizza coming out, I ask the same question, she says yes there is more, I'm confused ...I order another slice, she says it will take 20 min. I said ok np. & than she serves others ....who got slices right out the oven as I waited 30 min. It wasn't preorder orders as I could hear them order. Anyways I'm not sure why ordering is always very complicated.View more
Deep dish pizza & it taste very very great 👍 Will return Maybe best pizza in Montréal... So after tasting a few slices I can report that this meets & surpass my expectations. My only disappointment is that there is only 1 restaurant in Montréal. Should have an other. The quality of the ingredients is very good. Service is great & friendly. I will make this my pizza place.View more
We came in the summer when the main street was closed off to vehicle traffic. The pedestrian traffic though was quite impressive. The restaurant is well situated, easily accessible on foot & very inviting. There are lots of tables inside & a few outside on the street patio. The selection of pizzas is ample with lots of vegetarian options. They serve only Sicilian slices or New York styles.View more
I came to try Welldun Pizza while visiting family in Montreal. They have some great options & they all looked delicious. I ended up trying their Sicilian slice as they had a fresh one coming out. It was fluffy, crunchy & full of flavour. Definitely a must try if you're around the area! See my 2 part video below for the honest review!View more
Counter self-serve pizza place. We tried 3 slices of pizza. Detroit pepperoni (7$), New York Margherita (5$) & Grandma Margherita (5.75$). Our favorite is New York Margherita. In addition to being the cheapest, we prefer our crust slim. Also, it's a popular item so it was fresh out of the oven. Detroit pizza has a thick crust & grandma pizza is the rectangular one.View more
I've been lukewarm about pizza most of my life but I'm absolutely addicted to this place. I dream of pizza, everywhere I look I see pizza, i can't get pizza off my mind. Put a slice of this pizza on my headstone.View more
Just straight up boooomb pizza. The NYC slice was so good. Even the Detroit pizzas which I don't normally love were excellent. The staff was so friendly they made more NYC slices even though they were technically out of it in the display case. I was told by local friends that this was some of the best - if not the best - pizza in Montreal & boy it didn't disappoint.View more
This place never disappoints. With every visit we make it keeps getting better & better. The Detroit style vodka bacon pizza just slaps everytime & is my go-to square. The Sicilian-style pepperoni is a really close 2nd with its crispy pep slices. The dough is so pillowy & addictive. You can definitely see the love they put into this place with the quality of the pizza. I highly recommend it!View more
Oh myyyyy goodness! As a huge fan of American-Itallian pizza I am always on the hunt for something similar tasting available locally. Until now, the search hasn't been successful... I've tried the other mtl "NY" styled slice shops, & while they are good, they pale in comparison to the "real thing". Welldun is such a gem in MTL! We ordered New York slices as well as Detroit & they were both incredible & very authentic! Perfectly balanced in flavour, acidity, crisp & chew... Beautiful selection, friendly service & very clean. Great first experience & I will most certainly be back! Would be awesome if they introduce a Chicago deep dish as well!View more
Oh my goodness, I honestly did not think I'd survive the hellish furnace that is Welldun Pizza on a sweltering Verdun evening. I waited for over 45 minutes (with my baby in tow), can you believe it, for just 4 pizza slices, that for all intents & purposes should've been ready to just shove in a box & send me out the door with. The working (& waiting) conditions in the restaurant were quite close to unbearable. I would be surprised if the temperature & lack of ventilation were actually legal for the staff working there. While the pizza ovens themselves were vented, the rest of the restaurant did not appear to be, so every time the ovens were opened, the room filled with smoke that just hung in the air. There were two paltry fans for the staff themselves, but nothing at all for the people waiting well over half an hour to even be greeted. I understand from reading other reviews that the family establishment did not expect the heat & ventilation to have been as much of an issue when setting up (are they new to Montreal?), & I respect that making any major changes takes time & money that may well not be available at the moment, but at the very least, could they not have bought a few utilitarian-but-effective fans in the meantime? While the staff were clearly working themselves to the bone, & I will say nothing against anyone doing their best to meet the demand, the actual ordering process & general organisation was poorer than I even thought possible for a pizza slice place. When you finally get to the front of the queue after goodness knows how long, all the pizza you had mentally earmarked to order on your way in had disappeared, & the woman of the front shrugs unapologetically & says "that's just how it goes... if you want to wait another 10 minutes, we may have some more". & bear in mind that these were the only veggie pizzas available - ordering from one of the other multitude of pork-topped slices just wasn't an option. The pizza itself was, thankfully, fantastic. Hence the 2 star review, & not 1. & I hope that the restaurant can iron out these operational challenges. Montreal deserves this great pizza, but I am concerned, seeing the beleaguered looks on the queuing customers' faces, that far fewer will get to try it than should.View more
a delicious slice of pepperoni pizza sitting on a white plate on a dining table. The pizza is generously topped with cheese & pepperoni, making it an appetizing meal. A bottle of beer is placed next to the pizza, adding to the enjoyable dining experience. A fork is also present on the table, ready to be used for enjoying the pizza. The dining table occupies most of the scene, with the plate & the bottle of beer being the main focus of the image.View more
Hands down the best pizza I've ever had. A unique spot in that they have 4 styles to choose from (NY, Detroit, Sicilian, & Grandma) & all of them done exceptionally well. Most pizza spots usually just stick with one style, or two. My favourites were the Sicilian pepperoni & Detroit vodka sauce with pesto. I would recommend dining-in so you can get the slices freshly re-heated out of the oven.View more
Easily the best thick/bready pizza slice I had in Montreal. Exploding with flavors & quality ingredients. I especially loved the crispiness of the detroit-style, & the toppings of the vodka bacon slice were amazing.View more
service was very good & friendly. long wait time on a friday night to be expected the sauce is great & the ingredients are quality, however the crust on my new york slice was burnt & IMO inedible will have to to go back for 2nd tryView more
