I used to rate this stakehouse with 5vstars, & it was our traditional destination for the New Year's Eve. This year, something changed:
- having booked for 10 people months in advance, we were surprised upon being seated, that the table couldn't accommodate us & we had squeeze chairs together as the restaurant did not provide an extension: they were overbooked!
- then the food, usually an amazing experience, we were served old dishes (stake, & others), & had to send them back for warmer ones. The result was warmer dishes but food that felt stale
- Then the service, while our specific attendant went out of his way to address our needs, combined with management decision to squeeze tables, probably to maximize revenue, at the cost of what was a great experience, was very disappointing, & I did not tell of where our table was located, next to an air exhaust system that kept sending cold air in our face! A location where there should not have been a table.
I did not give one star, though the experience warranted it, in the hopes that it was a one-off. Remains to be verified.

La nourriture est délicieuse & le service impeccable. Malgré une erreur dans notre commande, la serveuse a su rattraper la situation avec des excuses sincères & un dessert offert par le restaurant. L'ambiance était calme lors de notre visite, sans être trop achalandée.
We came for late night drinks on Sunday (post 9pm happy hour) & was very nice. They have classics like martinis & old fashions. The watermelon margarita is very good. The bartender was very nice, we will be back!

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience.
We clearly ordered four bone-in rib steaks, but only three were brought, & the fourth steak was incorrect. We immediately informed the server, & although they agreed to change it, the replacement took so long that I couldn't eat dinner with my family.
What made the experience worse was at checkout: I wanted to leave a $20 tip, but the server insisted that taxes had to be included & automatically applied a 15% tip, which felt unfair-especially considering the mistake & the long wait.
For a restaurant of this reputation & price level, the service was far below expectations. Very disappointing.
Update:
Following the owner's response, I contacted the restaurant by email as requested to seek a fair resolution. Unfortunately, I have not received any response so far.
Beautiful place for dinner. The food & service were excellent. We had a quiet spot at the back, which was perfect for us.

Jimmy was our waiter & provided excellent service through out the night, he was always present & prepared to accommodate our needs. If you are looking to enjoy a flavorful & tender steak or endulge in some savory sea food appetizers I couldn't recommend a better place then Vieux-Port Steakhouse.
Food was pretty good, albeit, not better than The Keg. Service was passable. Waiters weren't very friendly, but weren't flat-out rude. The atmosphere is a strange mix of elegant with tacky elements mixed in - like paintings of cows on the walls? Prices were in line with any other steakhouse. Overall, it was a decent experience, but there's no reason to go here over somewhere like The Keg.
Food was ok, service was great ! Very nice spot in old port , food was a bit overpriced in my opinion but that's old port ! Still great tho !

Jacky , Lydia , Elies, Alex , Marty ou Martin des gens exceptionnels. La soirée sans eux .. je sais pas ce que sa aurait donné. Sont la pour répondre à vos besoins, participe à la soirée tout en travaillant bien sur! J'ai rien à dire à part des trucs positifs especially sur les employés mentionnés. Ils/elle vont rendre votre soirée/événement à un autre niveau grâce à leur service, générosité , gentillesse, bienveillance,etc
My boyfriend & I enjoyed dinner here for my birthday, & brunch the following day. Elias was absolutely wonderful. He was very tentative, informative, & patient. He has made our trip to Montreal even more special. Thank you to Elias & the Managers who took care of us.
I enjoyed being here its my first time being here the stake was perfect the dessert was perfect monosh was the best next time coming here if he's not my waiter iam not eating 😂❤?
