UTO Sushi ressort comme une adresse où la fraîcheur et le goût des sushis sont au rendez vous, les sushis et makis sont frais et savoureux, les poké bowls et certains sets comme Vancouver ou Calgary suscitent des avis très positifs, les portions sont généreuses et les prix raisonnables, l accueil est chaleureux et le service est souvent décrit comme attentionné et sympathique, le chef est reconnu pour sa gentillesse et sa passion et on ressent son implication dans chaque assiette, il faut parfois prévoir un peu de temps pour la préparation surtout en heure de pointe et il est conseillé d appeler à l avance ou de prévoir quelques minutes d attente, certaines commandes peuvent etre conservées au frais ce qui est perçu comme une attention agréable, les plats vedettes incluent eel poke bowl et torched saumon et saumon nigiri, le lieu est petit mais charmant et donne l impression d une petite enclave japonaise, le rapport qualité prix est largement salué et de nombreux clients le considèrent comme le meilleur sushi de Montréal ou un vrai bijou et l experience est décrite comme cohérente et abordable, ce qui pousse des habitués et des visiteurs curieux à revenir.

me & my girlfriend were looking for a nice sushi place nearby. We stumbled upon UTO sushi a few weeks ago & figured we'd give it a shot to test out the reviews. We arrived about half an hour before closing & the chef was very welcoming & explained to us we might have to wait a little while as he had many orders. We waited about 20 minutes which is very reasonable for fresh sushi. & for the wait he gave us a free 15$ plate of Sushi along with our plate! He absolutely didn't need too. & then we got home & THE BEST SUSHI IN MONTREAL!

Absolutely love this place. The eel poke is outstanding, & the chef-who I believe is also the owner-is incredibly warm & welcoming. The quality of the produce is exceptional, especially considering how reasonable the prices are. A truly special spot that I can't recommend highly enough. Simple put, a Montreal gem & a must-try.
Our go-to-place for affordable & delicious sushi in Montreal. My boyfriend & I visit it often, even on our birthday nights when it's a workday but we still want something nice before the weekend party.
Be sure to order in advance, or prevent about 30min of wait, especially during peak hours. We usually enjoy just sit there & talk with the chef, or order then go to St-Laurent, get a coffee & some natas before we come back.
We would recommend the torched sushis #14 & #16, & for poke we recommend either eel or salmon.
this is the best sushi place in montreal hands down. a very cute family owned place. the salmon & eel r of the best ive ever tasted. the chef is so friendly & sweet as well.
Incredible sushi, really fresh & prepared very well. The chef/proprietor is very friendly & interesting to speak with. He opened in May 2024 & works very long hours to make sure his food is the best it can be. Even the soy sauce (which the chef makes himself) had a noticeable, above the norm taste. We had sushi but the people sitting next to us had the poke bowls which looked amazing. I recommend looking at the menu & deciding which items you would prefer Not to have, then asking the chef to recommend items from the rest of the menu… His suggestions for us were spot on.
I will admit that I was skeptical of all the five star reviews, but after dinning there I see they are genuine & well deserved.
Update 8/28/2025 - I came back a year later. The sushi was just as amazing as I remember from 2024. The owner is doing an amazing job. He has maintained & even elevated the high quality & integrity of his restaurant. UTO Sushi well deserves its strong reputation.
Anywhere with a 5* rating I'm a little skeptical - don't be! This place was great. Really friendly chef who helped with suggestions. Sushi was made fresh with only about a 10 minute wait (& they were busy!). Rolls were really tasty & a great size to be easily eaten.
there is only one chef who's incredibly nice & really friendly, the sushi was so beautiful i felt bad eating it but it was the most delicious sushi I've ever had & probably ever will have. 10/5 stars definitely recommend coming here.
The most delicious sushi I've ever had! The place is run by a very polite Japanese chef who manages everything on his own. It truly felt like a little corner of Japan (even though I've never been there, haha). An amazing experience overall, & I'll definitely be back!
We ordered the Calgary Combo for two, the portion was just right.

A friend brought me here 6 months ago for the Eel Poke Bowl & have have come back with a new friend each month since then - everyone falls in love with both the food & the wonderful chef!
Hands down, the best poke bowl I've ever had, everything is made to perfection with such care - the seared eel is a wonderful touch that adds an amazing crispness, i cant even begin to praise the japanese omelet!
If i could give this place 10 stars, i would.
From someone who's had sushi all over the globe, including Michelin-starred restaurants, Nobu, & the freshest spots in Hawaii, I can confidently say this place is the absolute best. Seriously, forget everything you think you know about sushi until you've eaten here. The fish is unbelievably fresh, the rice is perfectly seasoned, & the chef's knife skills are out of this world. Each piece is a work of art, bursting with flavor & melting in your mouth. This isn't just a meal; it's a sushi experience that will ruin all other sushi for you.

What truly sets this place apart is the freshness of the fish.
Also un exceptional experience. From the moment you step in, you're greeted by the warm, minimalist décor & a friendly owner/chef that immediately makes you feel welcome!
The chef is so friendly & hardworking. I always get the Vegetarian Poke bowl; I've tried many spots around the city & nothing compares to the poke here. The sauce & flavours are unbeatable!
The food is very delicious! The chef Loon is super nice! He's been doing sushi for more than 20 years, a real expert ! The fish are really fresh on daily delivery!
Nous avons mangé 2 poke exellents. Le service est remarquable ! Le chef était très attentif à nous ! On recommande à 100% ! Rare sont les personnes aussi gentilles en 2024 !
